About The Star Inn at Harome
Situated in a picturesque village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a couple of miles outside the market town of Helmsley, this much-loved Michelin-starred inn has origins believed to date back to the 14th Century. Since 1996, The Star has been 'home' to award-winning Chef, Andrew Pern well known for his use of local, seasonal ingredients. The 'package' is completed with warm Yorkshire hospitality, which has made this one of the North's leading restaurant for the best part of the last two decades.
Beautiful food, lovely cosy surroundings. Friendly, unobtrusive and efficient service. One of the best places we've eaten at.
We were a party of nine. It’s our ‘go to place’ pre Christmas Loved it all. Many thanks A few more vegetables would be nice but fabulous value on Local menu. Thanks to brilliant staff too
Delicious and inventive as we have come to expect. The service was excellent and particularly knowledgable.
My husband and I had a really delicious and memorable meal and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from the delicious bread to the magnificent cheese and apple 'trifle' which was out of this world. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was so friendly and great too. Thank you to everyone at The Star Inn.
The food, staff and atmosphere were all superb. We were made to feel so relaxed. We had such an enjoyable night out and can't wait to return.
Lovely lunch most enjoyable
Faultless from arrival to departing
After wanting to visit the Star we finally got there, had a fabulous meal and stayed overnight in our motorhome on the car park, very quiet. Only small issue, we were in a small room with only two tables, the diners on the next table were in earlier than us and left leaving us in a room on our own. We would have been happier in one of the main areas. Don’t really want to sound ungrateful but a small issue, we will go back but will ask to be seated elsewhere.
Delicious meal and the staff were really lovely and knew a lot about the food.
Wonderful experience all round
A very special location, atmosphere & experience
We had a fabulous evening on Saturday night. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the wine was lovely. We really enjoyed the appetizer on arrival, the delicious breads and the home made sweets with our coffee. All in all we had the most wonderful evening and will be back soon.
i have dined here many times but have to say that the lamb main course was very poor with little taste and undercooked-ditto the veg that came with it. my husband had the steak and this was tough with literally only 10 chips with it very unusual
We had private dining here last week and it was an all round brilliant experience. The staff are so welcoming into the bar when you first arrive. Its a small and cozy pub for a pint with a restaurant that is like Dr Who's tardis on the inside. Its just seems to go on and on. The food was 5 star. The staff knew everything about the food and explained every dish to us in detail. Absolutely brilliant place and we will definitely be back!!!
Once again a fabulous meal and the service was wonderful. A nice cosy atmosphere both in the bar and the restaurant. A big thank you to all the staff for making it a special evening.
Excellent, which was what we expected. The two ladies did feel that their lamb was rather overdone, and should have been pinker. Everything else excellent, and fully worth the journey. We all look forward to our next visit.
Great evening - thank you
My partner and I visited to celebrate her birthday. The food was outstanding. The staff were attentive and I would highly recommend your establishment. Simply first class.
Four of us had another fabulous evening at The Star last Saturday. Brilliant service and exceptional food. The savoury Yorkshire Curd Tart Amuse Bouche was delicate and perfectly prepared, a wonderful overture to a well-orchestrated meal. The Cheese soufflés were to die for, light, perfectly cooked and topped with a sensational Stinking Bishop. I'm in heaven when I'm in The Star at Harome. This is the true jewel in the Yorkshire foodie crown, all presided over by the indomitable Eve. Chef Proprietor Andrew Pern is a magician!
I was amazed by the perfection of the food for adults and children, simply delicious.
One of the finest dinning experiences I’ve ever had.
A really special evening with fantastic food. Will be returning soon.
Lovely food. Atmospheric surroundings. But some staff appeared bored, unwillinging to smile or engage with customer.
We had a most enjoyable lunch with you last Friday. The service was particularly outstanding. Neither of us are strict vegetarians but we were delighted to see a full vegetarian menu on offer, rather than the usual one add-on at the end of a meat/fish list found elsewhere.. So much so, that my wife did chose to eat from the vegetarian menu and was more than satisfied. Just one minor observation; I found that the stinking bishop cheese served with the haddock starter rather overpowered the fish and killed off any flavour that was intended from the leek accompaniment.
