About The Star Inn at Harome
Situated in a picturesque village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a couple of miles outside the market town of Helmsley, this much-loved Michelin-starred inn has origins believed to date back to the 14th Century. Since 1996, The Star has been 'home' to award-winning Chef, Andrew Pern well known for his use of local, seasonal ingredients. The 'package' is completed with warm Yorkshire hospitality, which has made this one of the North's leading restaurant for the best part of the last two decades.
Fantastic food accommodation and atmosphere
A fabulous afternoon having Sunday lunch; nothing to fault. We will definitely be doing it again. Loved it all. Thank you
The restaurant was very busy, and subsequently service was not as good as I expected. We went to the till to get our bill as we had had to wait for our plates to be cleared for some time and expected a repeat of this when paying the bill. The atmosphere wasn't relaxing because of the busyness of the staff. I ordered an appetiser instead of a starter which arrived in a tiny ramekin with no accompanying plate. After paying the bill the staff member was clearly busy and perhaps for that reason did not offer to retrieve my friend's coat However, the staff member we asked quickly got it for us. The food was very good. If I came again I would ask for a table away from the kitchen in the dining room next to the bar, or eat in the bar itself.
My Wife & I have frequented the Star Inn over a number of years and never failed to receive a taste sensation .Thankyou to all staff .Chris & Phil Reader.
We had a really nice Sunday lunch and the beef was delicious and the star of the show. If I was to be picky, it would be about the amount of vegetables that accompanied the dish. Five roast potatoes (why have an odd number between two diners?) a couple of broccoli stems and ONE, yes I repeat ONE cauliflower florette for two people is a bit mean in my opinion.
The fish I had on Sunday was just marvellous. JOHN
From walking in the door to walking out, the staff my us feel very special without being too fussy, food was brilliant, as was the service. the "coffee loft" was quirky and a great idea for relaxing after your meal. we will be back.
We had a perfect Sunday lunch as part of my wife's 60th birthday celebrations. The whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. We'll certainly be back.
Lived up to the Michelin hype. Food was excellent.
Friendly and warm welcome in the bar by Suzie, the food and service in the restaurant was fantastic, afirst class team. Amazing meal with perfect atmosphere. Many thanks
Absolutely blown away by the meal, and the whole experience. Attentive but not intrusive staff, lovely quirky environment which was relaxed and not too formal. We so appreciated the talents of the chefs- and enjoyed every mouthful! We look forward to our next visit!
It was our second visit after my 60th birthday which was excellent. This time it was a belated 40th wedding anniversary dinner. The meal once again was superb as was the service. There was a little added extra at the end when the waitress brought a lovely desset on a plate wishing us a happy anniversary it was a lovely extra touch that made it special. As we are now residents in the area we will be back. I have also placed a similar review on Tripadvisor.
An excellent experience.
Best food in the area great for special occasions, excellent and friendly service
Exceptional food and service. Highly recommended!
Thoroughly enjoyable experience Excellent choice of fine food Courteous and friendly staff Atmospheric
It was our first time to visit we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff were very attentive we will be coming again
Had a wonderful evening at The Star on Saturday. Service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. The only reason for 4 stars for atmosphere is that I might make the dining room a bit cosier - maybe softer lighting but that in no way affected what was a wonderful evening. A real treat. We will be back.
We had a wonderful food experience Evan though we had a bit of a problem it was soon sorted. We can only say Thank You to you. We will certainly recommend, and hope we will soon come again evan if it is quite a way from Richmond!
Quite the best meal I have had in years. Fantastic staff and perfect atmosphere.
Lovely lovely place . Stayed and dined three weeks ago for first visit and returned for relaxing lunch . We will be back
Beautiful country pub setting, great service and the food was top notch. This was recommended to us by a friend and id happily recommend to anyone
Excellent and friendly front of house and exception food. Great to have a selection of menus including a la carte for lunch, you don't often get those options. Lovely touch with the anniversary complimentary pud. Marvellous overall experience and we will be returning asap!
A fantastic dining experience. Staff were very friendly and the service was faultless. The tasting menu was a fantastic experience, each course delivered with finesse and such attention to detail - a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Especially enjoyed the chocolate magnum - which rather devastatingly came to an end! We will definitely recommend. Many thanks to all at the Star Inn.
