About The Stag at Offchurch
An idyllic, thatched gastro-pub in the Warwickshire countryside, specialising in home-cooked food, fine wines and well-kept real ales.
We have been to The Stag many times and rarely been disappointed by anything. Our meal this time was one of the most enjoyable we’ve had. Every course was lovely and well presented. The service was efficient and friendly without being over-bearing!
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience following an absences of many years. It was good to renew an old acquaintance and we will certainly return in the near future.
It was a pity there were so many things on the menu that were unavailable despite the tables being booked in advance. There were also a few mistakes with our order- sauces added when not requested, white not red wine brought, wrong orders etc. Food was delicious though
We arrived at 7.30 - table booked 7.45. Didn't sit at table until 8.30. Very little room to stand/sit whilst we were waiting for the table We didn't get our mains until 9.30. You had run out of rabbit pie and fillet steaks. We didn't understand why you had run out of fillets considering you buy them from Aubrey Allen who is local. We felt the prices are too high overall. Beers were good. We would not consider coming back in the near future.
Good quality enjoyable food and atmosphere
It was my birthday celebration with family and the whole experience was second to none. The menu choice was superb (we have fussy eaters) and the service was very good.
Service was very slow. Although the first course (for two of the party) was reasonably fast, most of us did not have a starter, and it was a full hour before our main course arrived. The frangipane tart was delicious.
Excellent food as always but service very slow for our Sunday lunch.
I am a regular diner at The Stag because the standard is always excellent! Love the food and everything about the place. It is fab!
Delicious food and great choices
Amazing meal with excellent service
Friendly staff, great outside space, plenty of choice on menu.
Staff really good, food spot on. Service at a reasonable time frame.
The service was very efficient and attentive without being overbearing. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. One minor point - the chips served in the metal container were rather ‘bitty’ rather than being mainly whole chips. But overall - excellent and enjoyable.
I took my mother and girlfriend for Sunday lunch at the Stag. It's a lovely location and I have to say I cannot fault the ambience or the staff. The staff were friendly and attentive but without being in your face. I'd also have to say the food was lovely. The menu had some very interesting choices on it and there was a selection of "roast dinners" including an option to have a little of each. I guess you're wondering why the 3 stars then. It's simple, the portion size. It's almost like the portions were sized for a tasting menu but were being presented as "full size meals". Three small roast potatoes supporting three or four wafer thin slices of pork does not a foundation for a hearty meal make. A couple of small dishes of vegetables were also placed on the table, imagine my surprise to find that these tiny ramekins were for both of us having a roast dinner. The fact is that all of us were hungry again some three or four hours later and having had a three course meal, I don't really feel that should be the case. My advice to prospective diners, if you like food and expect a normal meal then look elsewhere unless you like to follow up a meal with a take away curry. My advice to the stag, increase the portion size or lower the prices. It's such a shame because in every other respect the place is faultless.
Good meal. staff worked hard and were v personable despite being very busy with a full house. Bit of a wait between courses but understandable as there were several large parties to cater for. Forgot our coffees but apologisied for the delay. Overall a very good evening out.
The food was absolutely gorgeous, if not a little over priced. However that won’t stop us coming back!
Food was delicious, although expensive. Atmosphere was okay, not many in the restaurant but over crowded in the bar area.
Very good food and service once again.
Excellent food and service. Good beer too.
Good kids meals
Excellent food and service.
Good Sunday Lunch. I would have voted five stars but for the fact my Wife ordered beef ,me Pork, The gravy perfect for the beef overwhelmed the pork. Tasty but not right.
