About The Springer Spaniel
A delightfully rustic country pub which holds a hidden secret. An exquisite freshly prepared menu designed to tempt and delight anyone looking for a fine dining experience. Whether it’s an intimate meal for two or a family friendly evening meal there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
This establishment was recommended to us as the perfect location for a lunchtime meeting with friends over from New Zealand (no pressure!). It lived up to the occasion by providing excellent food with first rate service. The tables were set with large bowls of fresh flowers such a pleasing addition.
Food and service were great - only criticism would be the sweet potato burger was bland...felt it could do with some spicing up.... Also car parking was a nightmare as usual!!
Special treat place and does not disappoint. Keep forgetting about loyalty card but have kept receipt. Can I come and get one?I
The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and probably the best steak I have had in a restaurant or pub. The whole family really enjoyed their meals and the service was fantastic and efficient. Staff were really friendly. Would highly recommend eating here.
service was prompt and friendly. Thoughtful enough to bring the children's food when the adults starters arrived. Food was tasty and arrived in good time.
Great evening here with family and dog. Lovely food and a great atmosphere.
Been to the springer many times - Service is always good as is the food - However there has been a change in the chips - maybe the way they cook them or the type of potatoes they use - they should go back to the old ones as they were much better
It was my grand-daughter's 13th birthday. She was treated royally. Banner, balloons. Her desert plate was beautifully decorated with...Happy Birthday. Thank you to the team. We will be back.
Great food. Easy parking
The food was amazing and they bought my boyfriend out a pudding for his birthday which was a lovely touch.
lovely food, tapas is a great idea for lunch in the garden, and the staff were super friendly and efficient .
We booked a lunch to celebrate a birthday hoping to have an a la carte meal in the restaurant only to find that the anticipated menu was not available and only limited ‘pub grub’ was on offer in the small back room. There is no mention of this change on the website nor were we informed at the time of booking. Having travelled for over 45 mins specifically fir the meal this was quite a disappointment.
The staff were incredibly friendly, however were clearly a little under staffed due to it being Father’s Day. We did have to wait a while for our bill and had to ask for it again. The food was generally amazing but the roast beef was chewy to the point that I couldn’t finish it. Couldn’t fault the sticky toffee pudding though!
Lovely food, warm and friendly atmosphere.
Children’s macaroni cheese was inappropriate as far too strong with mustard and very hot in a burning hot dish. Told to hurry up by waitress twice when we were clearly settling out young children. Did not seem necessary as over 20 minutes until the next group were booked in to arrive. Service was unfriendly and nobody seemed pleased to see customers .
Enjoyed a lovely evening and we had the Ham Hock and Burger which we both thoroughly enjoyed during a relaxed evening, with friendly Service.
I had booked a table online explaining that it was to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. I felt it was a disappointing experience, as we ate in a room adjacent to the bar rather than the main restaurant. We could hear all the conversations from the bar which was really annoying, and there was a fair amount of swearing too which I really didn’t want to hear when eating dinner. Our food was served very quickly, so quickly that we had in fact finished our meal in under an hour. This was disappointing given I had hoped for a celebratory birthday meal. The service was quite perfunctory, and the food average. I was very disappointed and will not return.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant itself was cosy and food delicious. The menu may seem a little small but food was very good except the torched mackerel. It was cold and jellylike when it came out. It had no flavor and the condiments in it did not help. Other than that, the roast and trimmings were cooked to perfection.
great little pub. We enjoyed the sunday roast!
A great meal a good lively atmosphere and great service highly recommend
Very relaxed. We spent over 3 hours having met up with friends. Not pressure to get the table back!
Great food. Cosy atmosphere
£19 for a tiny bit of hake and a couple of new potatoes swimming in sauce. Not impressed by portion size/ value for money. My partner had a ploughmans which was good and the desserts were nice but generally not the 'wow factor we were expecting. Would not make the trip from Plymouth again.
Friendly staff and good food. Was expecting a choice of menus but only had the standard menu. Very good fish and chips though with tasty curry sauce.
