About The Soap Factory
A designed-led eatery & cocktail bar located centrally on Whitehall Quay, Leeds. A great place to drop in and have a coffee or lunch with colleagues, or somewhere to sip tantalising cocktails with friends. Our main menu dishes are responsibly sourced, regional with a Yorkshire provenance when possible and taste really flavoursome.
We attended for afternoon tea, and it was a catalogue of disasters from start to finish, in my opinion. Arrived and was told "we'll put you in the bubble room" which sounded rather abrupt. We were ferried from a lovely looking bustling area into a very dull "conference-looking" room with no atmosphere whatsoever. We ordered our drinks - tea, 2 coffees and a glass of prosecco - I never received milk for my tea, despite asking twice (good job I dont mind it black) and no one came round to see if we would like any more drinks, resulting in a 15 minute wait at the bar. The value for money I thought was ok, not very many sandwiches (and tiny) and no egg mayo, as advertised, which, that being my favourite, was rather disappointing. One of our party was a vegetarian and I personally thought it could have made the experience a bit more enjoyable if his sandwich wasnt just a plain white bread sandwich on a normal plate, whereas we had mini baguettes sliced served on a chopping board - all part of the afternoon tea in my experience. The cakes, macaroons, scones and tarts were thoroughly enjoyed, however, I will not be returning.
We really enjoyed our afternoon tea Thankyou for lovely friendly service. The food was delicious (I just wish there was a little more in savouries rather than so many cake/sweet items as nice as they were) Would definately like to come again & would recommend Soap Factory 🥂
Unfortunately our afternoon tea experience was shocking. The restaurant - bar area was noisy and our table was unclean. Then the afternoon tea arrived which was basically a ham sandwich, scone and cakes. Even the bread was too hard to eat! We asked for the afternoon tea sandwiches as advertised and were left for a further half an hour. This continued with further poor quality food although the waiters were very apologetic and friendly as was the manager.
The staff were great and the food was amazing as always. We received feed back from all delegates after the event and they rated the venue and food highly. Thank you and we will book again for the third year running in 2020.
Love afternoon tea. A wonderful place, delicious food and amazing value for money!
Tasty food Value for money Great service Friendly staff Fab prices Clean toilets
All round excellence! Thank you :)
I came for my birthday yesterday. Staff were lovely and friendly. Food was good and great value for money (drink and dine). The only thing I would point out is we waited a long time for our starter and between courses.
Amazing food in the afternoon tea, tasty sandwiches and light fluffy cake and tangy lemon tart. Lovely friendly staff and brilliant price!
I booked online on the morning of the day that I wanted to visit. When I arrived the girl couldn’t find my booking so the manager came over, between sorting us out she shouted at one of her staff to ‘listen to her’ in a very aggressive manner! Very unprofessional and disgusting!! The afternoon tea was lovely however we did feel that there were far too many cakes which could of been substituted for some other savoury items. The interior is modern and clean but it is very loud inside and I heard the manager aggressively ‘explain’ to another member if staff how to make a cocktail.
My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays with our other friends. We were served quickly after ordering and the food and drinks were lovely. The service was brilliant as well, the staff were really helpful and friendly.
No table was actually reserved for us on arrival but there were tables available. Was very quiet no real atmosphere. Food quality was very good and excellent value for money for Leeds city centre.
Great service by Lucy who is super friendly with great customer service
If I could suggest one thing it would be that it was quite dark where we were sat but other than that everything was fantastic
Unaware of booking on arrival, took 15-20 mins to be served once seated. We specified which sandwiches we did & didn’t want to be brought out the wrong selection with no apology... took them away to correct and still brought wrong selection out
Can’t fault the place only mishap was hot coffee being knocked over by waitress which soaked my trousers tbh the team couldn’t do enough to apologise which was excellent customer service. Thank you Soap Factory team x
The lady that served us was lovely, very friendly and made our experience more special so thank you xx
Lovely afternoon tea, delicious food with pleasant friendly staff
We visited here on a Sunday dinner time, food was amazing and great value for money! We were served by Pete who was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We would definitely recommend. Thankyou, we will definitely be back.
Not great, pastries were soggy. Not a place for afternoon tea. Background music was awful. Not a good ambience.
Amazing afternoon tea lovely cakes and plenty of them
Good food and friendly staff
We had a lovely lunch to celebrate my friends birthday, one of us was a gluten free vegetarian who was very well catered for. Also our server Lucy was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and she was lovely, thanks to Lucy and a lovely experience we will definitely return.
Really good menu - loads to choose from.
Booked afternoon tea for my friends 30th birthday! Had a nice warm welcome from the 2 lovely staff members as soon as we walked in! The afternoon tea was lush very tasty and loads of choose! There was a couple of little things that happened but one of the staff member sorted it straight away! Would definitely come go!
