About The Silver Darling
Nestled in the distinctive surroundings of Aberdeen's Fittie area, The Silver Darling has recently embarked on a new voyage, celebrating one of the best dining views in the city.
Visited many years ago and was not impressed. Cold, open, service poor and food ok. This time, I am delighted to say, was completely different. Lovely décor, attentive and friendly staff (but not overbearing), food delicious and arrived at the correct speed (may sound odd but we had a dreadful experience at an expensive restaurant in Glasgow where the food was almost thrown at us with literally minutes between courses). Very much enjoyed the meal and the experience and happy to recommend.
Lovely quality seafood.
We had an excellent evening at Silver Darlings on Saturday. We all had three courses and cleared our plates. The choice of gins, wines and cocktails were to suit everyone's taste also. The only thing that i would add to the drinks menu is to offer champagne by the glass! That would be a added bonus! Great to see what the folk have done to the place.
Vert Friendly and help full staff. Meal was superb.
Unfortunately we had a 40 minute wait before our first course arrived. Whilst the waiting staff were very good in apologising for the delay, it would have been better to have been given the reason. Other than that we had a lovely evening.
Lovely atmosphere, food amazing.
Food and service were excellent, with a lovely view.
Very nice food with excellent service. Situated in a nice spot in Aberdeen overlooking the harbour.
New remodel looks brilliant and the food is still great!
Top quality scran
Fantastic food & service!
Fresh feel. Busy. Really good impression outstanding service and of course excellent food
Having spent many an anniversary, birthday and even my graduation at Silver Darling over the years , we were so disappointed on Saturday -and it was very apparent the restaurant has changed ownership. Our waitress was slow to take our drinks order , slow to take our order , there was no amuse bouche or bread for the table - all little things that made the Silver Darling so wonderful before. Though the starters were very tasty, we then had an incredibly long wait for our mains. When they finally arrived my order was wrong, and with plans later that evening we actually had to leave without eating as we simply could not wait for already slow mains to be re-cooked from scratch. Deeply disappointed and won’t be returning to a once favourite restaurant.
Circumstances and diary clashes have meant that we have waited longer than we would have liked to finally eat at The Silver Darling, and our expectations were high. I'm delighted to say that it was well worth the wait and we were not disappointed.
Food and service both very very good. Thank you.
First visited this restaurant about thirty years ago! This time for my daughters 18th lunch. Lovely cosy atmosphere and welcomed warmly and had great table. Ordered lobster bisque but sadly all three soups were not warm enough and i must admit very watery, came back nice and hot but i am gauging this on tolbooth restaurant and felt that taste was lovely just very thin. i had lemon sole which was lovely but think my husband felt his fish was overcooked slightly. I love desserts and alway hope that they will be exciting and something of beauty. However, whilst it was tasty it wasnt exciting. Now this sounds like i am being over critical but in this day and age, i strive to be wowed and feel that it will be justification in returning to a place. Case in point being Roganos in Glasgow where i really felt looked after, special and food was amazing. No views but i will be back. I really like the place, not many views like that and it is an ideal place to showcase wonderful plates, but for myself i may come back for a glass of rose and a lemon sole dish at lunch time. Thank you jane
Fantastic food at an amazing location.
Food was superb, halibut main course stunning. Look forward to going back after the refurb.
Enjoyed a lovely family lunch. Food, service and setting excellent.
Very good staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
Despite a broken fuse box and now lights in restaurant. Service was good and food outstanding. Staff compensated guests with reduced bar bill.
Another great meal & service despite the power outage. Impressed that management & staff dealt with the problem confidently and kept us updated. Also grateful for organising the birthday cake and balloons. The 6 of us had a great time and will be back. Thanks Keith Adams
We had a lovely lunch in the private dining room; food and service were fantastic!
Everything was very good but please can you leave the bottle of wine on the table so I can choose when to drink?
An enjoyable meal. The quality of the food is excellent.
