About The Silver Darling
Welcome to The Silver Darling…
Situated in the former Customs House at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour, The Silver Darling has recently embarked on a new voyage.
Renovated to the highest of standards, The Silver Darling has been transformed with stylish interiors that celebrate our unique heritage and complement our stunning setting for memorable meals.
The Silver Darling has an upstairs dining area which boasts floor to ceiling glass windows, providing panoramic views of Aberdeen’s beach, harbour and the historic fishing village of Footdee – affectionately known as ‘Fittie’ by the locals.
With a passion for quality food and drink, our menus have been carefully curated to showcase the finest selection of Scottish produce from Aberdeen Angus Beef to the freshest fish and shellfish dishes, in a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere.
The Silver Darling is the perfect setting to gaze at the sweeping sea coastline, watch the ships sail by, or in the summer months you may be lucky to catch a glimpse of the dolphins and seals bobbing in the bay…
It’s lovely restaurant with great service, food and atmosphere. I’ve been a few times over last couple of months and great experience every time. On Sunday it seemed really noisy and I’m not sure why? Struggled to hear friend speaking... bit disappointed....
Stunning food with great service
Food good but service not up to standard as expected
Another excellent night at The Silver Darling, and we and our guests loved it. Great food and excellent service all round, and the magical feeling of the location never goes away!
Perfect setting for a great little restaurant.
I was looking forward to my first trip to The Silver Darling but came away feeling rather disappointed. Firstly we asked to be seated at an empty table overlooking the water. We were told it was reserved. When we were leaving it was still empty and had not been occupied fir the time we were there! Food: my starter of black pudding bonbons were lukewarm and I was not overly impressed with my battered haddock and chips. It was not any better than The Ashvale, which surprised me. My friends Halibut.. was nothing special but rather overpriced for what it was! We decided not to have a pudding as nothing particularly stood out on the menu for us. On a positive note the service was fine apart from the initial table carry on. The setting is lovely and an ambient feel is prominent within the restaurant.
I was generally disappointed with the overall experience last Saturday. The special feeling of going to the Silver Darling wasn’t there. Service was a bit patchy and three of the main courses were very average. Cheese board to finish was terrible with poor quality selection. Staff eating at the service hub not what you would expect. Would not rush back given the above.
The food was very well presented and portions were adequate. Everything was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and our waiter was brilliant.
Great location, food and service.
Lovely meal with really great service which was attentive but not intrusive. The setting was also very nice but next time I would prefer a view of the beach
Food excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. Will be back soon
Lovely food service and views nice touch from the chef a happy birthday icing on the sweet
Faultless food and service.
Excellent food and service, will be back soon.
The food was absolutely perfect, everything came in great time and looked as gorgeous as it tasted. We absolutely loved the service too, all of your staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. Couldn’t fault them in the slightest. We were very impressed and so happy that our experience lived up to the hype! Incredible quality, will definitely be back.
Food was excellent all in all a fabulous evening. Will Definitely be back.
Beautiful food- wonderful views and excellent service. Not expensive when one considers the quality of the ingredients and the presentation of the food. Delightful, well informed waitress. Next time we are back in Aberdeen visiting our daughter we will definitely be back!
Wonderful dinner, absolutely delicious and lots of fresh fish. Great service and lovely views. We will be back!
excellent food, one of the best restaurants in Scotland at all, since it is mostly crowded, it is a little bit noisy, maybe some noise reduction Tools, e.g. in the ceiling, could make the athmospere perfect
We ordered the halibut for main course & I had to send mine back as it was overdone. The second attempt was slightly better, but overall it's a pretty bland dish - more brown crab mayo might have helped but there were only a few artistic dots on the plate.
What a way to start our first night in Aberdeen. The food was as promised, the Cullen skink fish soup sublime. Scallops, sea trout and haddock perfectly presented and the veg were prepared skilled in techniques- mark of a good kitchen. Our service was attentive and knowledgeable when we asked about the fish. It was a good 30 minute fast walk well worth it, and an easy taxi back downtown. Superb.
We had a delicious meal for mum’s birthday - couldn’t fault it, finished with one for the road at No 10 👍🏼 Until next time... Thanks x
Lovely afternoon with family for lunch in a beautiful setting
