About The Silver Darling
Welcome to The Silver Darling…
Situated in the former Customs House at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour, The Silver Darling has recently embarked on a new voyage.
Renovated to the highest of standards, The Silver Darling has been transformed with stylish interiors that celebrate our unique heritage and complement our stunning setting for memorable meals.
The Silver Darling has an upstairs dining area which boasts floor to ceiling glass windows, providing panoramic views of Aberdeen’s beach, harbour and the historic fishing village of Footdee – affectionately known as ‘Fittie’ by the locals.
With a passion for quality food and drink, our menus have been carefully curated to showcase the finest selection of Scottish produce from Aberdeen Angus Beef to the freshest fish and shellfish dishes, in a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere.
The Silver Darling is the perfect setting to gaze at the sweeping sea coastline, watch the ships sail by, or in the summer months you may be lucky to catch a glimpse of the dolphins and seals bobbing in the bay…
The service was ‘efficient’, but we had 4 different waiting staff and only the lady at the end of our lunch, who took the bill over, actually smiled! There was a group waiting at the bar who were obviously having a drink whilst waiting to go down to the private dining room, they were clearly not considerate whilst other guests were trying to have lunch, poorly managed. The restaurant was cold, it was a horrible day, so the coldness of the day seemed to be reflected in the service. For an Aberdeen restaurant promoting an Aberdonian history, a welcoming bit of ‘banter’would not go amiss. An expensive lunch for mediocre service. Very disappointed as this was a special occasion, for a 21st Birthday. The restaurant should be warm and welcoming, and bar only one member of staff, it really wasn’t.
Food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere and location was lovely and very well priced. We were there for a Christmas party of 55 people and was catered for extremely well. Highly recommend and great value for money.
My favourite restaurant in Aberdeen, it never disappoints me!
As always we had a lovely Lunch, great food, great service and fantastic views out to sea 😃🐠🦐🦀🐟🍾👍🏻
Fantastic pre-Christmas lunch here. Amazing location, lovely food and great staff. Hope to book again for next year.
Food was good although the service was rushed. We felt like we were being rushed out of the door.
Will definitely be going back
Super Service, great food, very nice location.
Waiter brought the wrong type of drink to our table and when we corrected him he became very rude the rest of the night.
Given the time of year,we had an excellent lunch served by happy helpful staff in a delightful atmosphere . We think this is one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen at present. Thank you for a great Sunday lunch!
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fabulous! The staff are just spot on. Food to die for! We will definitely be back, just lovely!
Un excelente restaurante lo recomiendo
Lovely food and good service
Great food, great service, great setting. Quite frankly a very comfortable environment where children, shoppers and those out for an evening meal blended without a problem. Very impressed.
Very nice lunch with friends. Food is excellent and a very nice wine too
We enjoyed a girls lunch here. Superb table with great view was just the start. The service was lovely, friendly and well paced. There was always someone on hand to look after us. Gorgeous food from a great menu with exciting specials. All in all, a great lunch.
Great choice on menu for both sea food and non sea food lovers. Lovely views from the restaurant and excellent service.
Food was delicious and service was very good
We went for lunch with friends from overseas but I must admit I was a bit disappointed. The food was delicious - no complaints there. However, I felt the service was not as attentive as I've experienced before, when we were offered bread/butter and an amuse bouche and generally felt a bit more looked after. Also, it looks like the restaurant was renovated, which is great, but I missed the previous more formal environment, with table cloth etc. It may be because we were there for lunch this time, while we usually go for dinner, but I was overall a bit disappointed and didn't feel I got the usual service I expected from the Silver Darling that I liked so much.
Beautiful food and drinks in an iconic location right at the entrance to the Harbour.
A very enjoyable experience
The staff were actually rude and they seemed annoyed as well, as for the food, we ordered mussels as starters, but it’s so bland, and the main course we ordered halibut and salmon, and they were quite over cooked. The food was disappointing, and the service was just a NoNo. When we left, no one every said goodbye to us, just to be clear, the restaurant was quite empty becoz we went there for lunch. We had been to this restaurant before and the first time and it was all fine, I guess it’s because last time we had a lot of people and we spent a lot of money that’s why they had to be nice to us. Very disappointed this time, and the fact that it’s actually my birthday lunch, they just ruined the whole thing. I won’t visit again for sure.
A nice experience, the staff were pleasant as was the food. I felt the portions were quite small for the price and there was disparity between portion sizes of different types of meals. I never usually have three courses but was still hungry so had the delicious but very small creme brulee. I quite liked the ambience but felt it was missing something, a lack of cosiness or luxury that I was expecting. We all agreed it lacked a maitre d' or someone older keeping an eye on things and checking on customers generally. Several different waitresses served us over the course of the meal. A young man cleared our dessert plates and when I mentioned a small concern about my husband's cheese board he just looked at me blankly. Glad I've tried it, but not a patch on No 10.
Excellent food service and atmosphere and anchors
