About The Silver Darling
Welcome to The Silver Darling…
Situated in the former Customs House at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour, The Silver Darling has recently embarked on a new voyage.
Renovated to the highest of standards, The Silver Darling has been transformed with stylish interiors that celebrate our unique heritage and complement our stunning setting for memorable meals.
The Silver Darling has an upstairs dining area which boasts floor to ceiling glass windows, providing panoramic views of Aberdeen’s beach, harbour and the historic fishing village of Footdee – affectionately known as ‘Fittie’ by the locals.
With a passion for quality food and drink, our menus have been carefully curated to showcase the finest selection of Scottish produce from Aberdeen Angus Beef to the freshest fish and shellfish dishes, in a laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere.
The Silver Darling is the perfect setting to gaze at the sweeping sea coastline, watch the ships sail by, or in the summer months you may be lucky to catch a glimpse of the dolphins and seals bobbing in the bay…
Overall a disappointing experience. Fish overcooked. Part of the order forgotten. Evening ruined by a very loud group of men. Waiting staff didn't seem to know how to cope.
We had a lovely meal and evening. Food is very tasty and very attractively presented with quality ingredients. We especially liked the scallops, tiger prawns, monk fish and grilled cod, but the crab cocktail was a bit mushy and tasteless. Puddings were an absolute delight. Interesting menu and wine list and not overpriced. Staff friendly and efficient but lacked a little bit of attention to detail. Restaurant has had a nice fresh makeover, but more casual than we were expecting for style and quality of food and prices. Fab location with amazing views, and huge bonus being able to see the boats coming and going. This really is a fab place for locals and visitors to experience excellent local food and scenery.
Lovely relaxing lunch. Everything from service to quality of food was spot on. Toilets spotlessly clean. Can't find a fault at all. Can't wait to return.
Really outstanding. Very much enjoyed it. Great setting and really tastefully done building. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable on menu and wine list. The monkfish market catch of the day was outstanding. Absolutely will dine again, absolutely would recommend. Thanks for a really nice night.
Excellent food, service and the views are spectacular too. We loved it, and would highly recommend a visit.
Excelent meal very freindly and professional staff
Really enjoyed our lunch, choice of fish was excellent, I took the Monkfish and it was delightful. Will be back for sure
Had a lovely meal, enjoyed watching the boats go by
Having been in Aberdeen for the last four years i decided to leave going to the Silver Darling for my graduation meal, and I am so glad I did. The food is the best that we have eaten in Aberdeen (and as my boyfriend and I are foodies we’ve eaten in most places). From start to finish we had a lovely dining experience and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Will be recommending here to my friends. Thank you.
Had a brilliant meal in a wonderful location. Many thanks.
Loved it. Graduation special occasion and everything was perfect thank you. Food and staff excellent
This restaurant has definitely lost its exclusiveness. It remains very good but no better than many other local restaurants in the same price range.
One of the highlights on our Schottland 🏴 trip. The food is delicous, staff very friendly, view super - everything perfect!
Super night thanks very much
High quality dining place for fish and sea food with fully homemade menu, with iconic view on the harbour.
Fantastic location for excellent restaurant
Ambience was spoiled a little by a very loud group of guys, but I'm not sure what the staff could have done about it.
We were regular visitors to the Silver Darling before it was bought over and were there the week after it’s new management took over. It was one of our favourite restaurants in Aberdeen. If it wasn’t for this fact our ratings above would have been different and higher. The food was good and obviously very fresh and local. The atmosphere now appears to be more casual and aimed at a younger audience. This is fine, if that’s what you like, If I want a casual night, I can go to No. 10 or Granite Park. I think you are missing a niche in the market, but that’s my opinion obviously. The review is meant in a positive way as i think we need more high quality local restaurants and the SD has the potential to be one of the best. Final comment: Turn the music down, so people can have a conversation, please
First time at the Silver Darling and would highly recommend it. The food and service was amazing. Lovely restaurant with great views over the beach and seeing the boats sailing past just made it that bit more different to other restaurants.
Far too noisy. Decided to have coffee and desert at home. Shame.
Although the food was nicely cooked, the service left a lot to be desired. From what is a rather limited menu to begin with, dishes were unavailable, which was disappointing. The drinks menu is also rather limited, with only five different cocktails available. There were also far too many members of staff having private conversations within earshot of customers. I wouldn't exactly describe the service as attentive.
Excellent- best meal I have had in a while
Love the new layout, and the new menu
Fresh and well made sea food. Nice atmosphere for any occasions. I'll surely come back!
Excellent lunch at the Silver Darling as always, would certainly visit again and very much enjoyed the catch of the day and the 2013 Riesling. Two areas I personally thought could be improved: there were a number of lovely window tables available (and which remained vacant throughout lunch service) but we were given a table in the middle of the room, which was not to my taste. Additionally, the dessert menu was a little too limited for me (6 desserts including the inevitable ice cream and cheese board seemed a disproportionately small number compared with the extensive lunch and mains menu). I regret that I was very much put off two of my usual favourite desserts, the creme brûlée and the panna cotta, by the inclusion of additional strong flavours (Irish coffee and mint/rhubarb/elderflower respectively). I personally thought that one classic dessert and one more modern variation might have worked better - I ended up going without a dessert, when I had very much looked forward to the Silver Darling’s previous confections! Otherwise couldn’t fault the restaurant and already looking forward to visiting again.
