Clever menu competently cooked service excellent friendly but not overt Good ambience- value for money
We attended for my parents' 40th anniversary and the staff very kindly provided a card containing well wishes, which was in keeping with the excellent service levels and great food. The tapas style small plates were creative, delicious and perfectly prepared and the modest bill (for six) was icing on the cake. The staff were attentive and the food arrived promptly. I had previously attended on one occasion for the a la carte dinner service and would equally highly recommend the Sunday lunch set.
Our favourite restaurant in Brighton & Hove. We've been visiting at least once a month since it opened and have loved every meal. The quality of the food and the creativity of the menu has blown us away every time - couple that with how affordable the menus are and that's why we keep coming back! Keep up the great work guys, inspirational food and a great atmosphere. Paul & Leanne X
We had an amazing evening celebrating my birthday. Staff were brilliant, thank you.
The kitchen rocks. Plates were beautiful, creative, moreishly tasty and trend-savvy, while also comforting. The service was just fantastic, both in the restaurant and the cocktail bar. Worth the trip from London to enjoy the world-class yet cozy and personal experience.
Probably the best food i have eaten anywhere, amazing staff. Keep up the good work top marks
Great food, very friendly knowledgable staff. We were sat right by the kitchen which was a bit warm, but great experience.
Yummy food and lovely atmosphere. We definitely come again!
Hello! I did love my experience with my friends at the set on Friday. Overall the staff were excellent and the food did taste absolutely amazing! Well done team! Just a little bit of constructive feedback though: - I did expect the menu to be the set menu style I've had before. Did I book something incorrectly? It wasn't clear if so. - it tools us a really long time to order food, three tables that came in after us ordered before us and it didn't seem particularly busy. When the waiter first came to ask to order, we did say we needed a couple of minutes but I don't think he came back for over 20 minutes
We were a party of 12 getting together for a class reunion. Everybody at The Set could not have been more welcoming and patient making this celebratory dinner special! Thank you all.
It was Sunday Evening, A good few in, but not packed, we didn't need to have booked. The bar staff forgot a drink on the first round, and again on the second - this resulted in us getting a couple of free drinks - no harm done. We ordered from the tapas menu, some lovely choices, the Mackeral was delicious, as was the Watercress Arancini. The Octopus had too much sumac on it, I use sumac, so knew to remove some - I tried a bit as the chef had prepared it, and it was too much. The Oxtail on its own was delicious, however, it had been married to an over spicy flat bread - I love spicy food, and was not concerned about the heat, my problem was that it devoured the subtle oxtail. When you have Oxtail in a Caribbean restaurant they don't spice it the way they spice most of their food. We really enjoyed the unhurried service, and were quite happy to go to the bar each time we wanted to order more drinks or plates. The lemon pavlova was a triumph. We would come again if we see a voucher on Wowcher, it's not worth the full price tag, not in a competitive restaurant city like Brighton.
Great food and service as usual. Wine pairing worked really well too.
Good food, nice service but very disturbed by open kitchen odors in the main restaurant
We celebrated our anniversary at The Set and had and fantastic experience. Fab atmosphere, brilliant staff and the food/wine was excellent. Highly recommend!
I came to the set in May and was so impressed that it was the first place I booked when I knew I was returning to Brighton last weekend. We chose set menu number 3 and it was extremely disappointing. The snacks, pre dessert and main dessert were all fanstastic. However the two main dishes, the salmon and the ox cheek were both very poor. The salmon was tough, the Ox cheek was bland, under seasoned and tasteless. It seemed a much greater emphasis was put on the presentation (which was good) than the actual taste of both these dishes. The service was good and the place has a lovely atmosphere, I will be returning to The Set and am sure this was a one off, but it was a disappointing trip because my expectations had been set so high.
Yummy food, great vibe. Will definitely come again!
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff as always.
Never fails to amaze us The quality and inventiveness of the food splendid
Fantastic food, amazing and attentive service. Can’t wait to return.
My son found this little place for a family brunch. There were six of us, service by our waitress was great. We found it relaxed & friendly. The food was excellently cooked & good quality. Minus points we thought £7 for a pot of tea for two was excessive, and credit card details are taken & £20 per person fee if you don't show up for your booking. I understand fully why they need to charge something if people don't turn up, but I did feel it was a very high amount & worried all week in case something prevented us from getting there on the morning as none of us are local & five of us were coming in the same car. We all agreed it was a lovely couple of hours though.
THis was one of the most amazing meal of my life and I have been to a few Michelin stars restaurant. Only thing it was a bit cold (the restaurant) Huge congrats !!!
very welcoming staff
Such a lovely relaxed evening, with top class food
