Not a fan of the new menu- we loved the old sharing plates. The steak tartare was tough and stringy and just awful- I think the wrong cut of meat for this? Shame because I adore steak tartare. However the tomato tart was outstanding....
Why the bizarre negotiation on giving the table back after 2 hours when you had only got 2 bookings ? Why the “ we have no sparkling water when you sit 200m from so many grocery outlets - couldn’t someone of just bough a dozen bottles? Why present a £47 bottle of white wine un-chilled and excuse it as “ well it’s been in the cellar “ ? Why prepare a menu that hasn’t any carb on it and when we order sides to ‘bulk out hungry stomachs ‘ you omit to tell us they are all cold raw salads ? Why serve steak tartare with absolutely no accompaniments and when asked for a ‘bit of bread ‘ to be able to eat it - charge another £8 for the pleasure ? Why ask the host “which geezer has his 71st birthday then” - and then do nothing to make him feel special ? And all for £217 ( plus £100 spent in the bar ) .... left feeling unloved ... unwanted and totally let down with such a poor experience. !
Imaginative and creative cooking.
Delicious food, relaxed vibe and a lovely evening as a result. Definitely somewhere I’d come again when I’m next in Brighton (both for dinner and breakfast!).
I did the Chef's Table with my mum and it was really special! She had never done a chef's taster menu before and was really in awe and I got to try some things I normally wouldnt order. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great!
Breakfast was amazing!
The Waitress could learn to less condescending to the people she waits on. Food was incredible and the artwork was beautiful!
The set is absolutely out of this world! Food is the best in Brighton and it’s such a lovely relaxed place to spend time. Can’t wait to try the brunch menu!
Really nice setting and amazing food. Two minor advices: The music was a little loud so it was hard to hear the serving staff. When bringing drinks -perhaps mention if there are more to follow before walking off - this assures the guests that it has not been forgotten :)
Me and my partner had a fantastic time at The Set celebrating our anniversary. We did the Chef's Table which I highly recommend if you are looking to do something unique for a special occasion. Each dish was delicious and not a scrap of food was left! Cannot wait to come back to this restaurant again.
We came twice it was excellent. Staff was great Joselyn was super great. Food was first class. Will recommend and would cone again if in town. Thanks
We had a fantastic an anniversary meal. Great food and service , lovely relaxed atmosphere which made our anniversary very special, so thank you! We hope to be back for our 40th, and certainly before that!
Really lovely meal for a special occasion!
I haven't lived in Brighton for the last 3 years. But I had a 'me' day and thought 'I have to go to the set'. You did not disappoint. I had an amazing lunch, I just now wish I lived nearer.
Had an impromptu breakfast there with the family. Daughter loved and demolished her pancake stack with maple syrup and crispy bacon on the side. Partner loved the freshness and flavours of her vegetarian breakfast. I opted for the traditional full English. The unexpected star of this was the bacon! It wasn't the traditional breakfast back rasher. It was a slice of pork belly that had been brined, roasted whole, sliced and then fried to order individually. It really was sensational! Coffee was great as was the service and ambience. You pay a few quid more here than in some places, but what you get in return is more than worth it!
The service we recieved from the restaurant staff was discreet and caring. The guy on duty in particular was first class.
Great as always
Fantastic service, incredible food and a wonderful atmosphere. We had the most perfect evening at the Set.
Amazing night! Beautiful food, lovely touches - perfect night!
Delicious cocktails in the relaxed atmosphere of the bar. Food was some of the best I have had in a long time. The presentation and colours where stunning. Matched with an amazing mixture of flavours.
Banging food! Loved it. Hopefully back sometime soon!
Buzzy atmosphere, tasty food although left hungry :(
Wonderful cocktails. Friendly service. Lovely food .
Great service and well-presented fare. Thank you for an enjoyable experience!
The Chef's Table was an incredible experience. Well-prepared food, the chance to interact with the chefs, and great wine pairings...I can highly recommend The Set.
