About The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow
Opened by Rick Stein and Jill Stein in 1975, The Seafood Restaurant is famous for establishing an international reputation for the very freshest fish and shellfish, often landed on our doorstep. Head chef, Stephane Delourme and his team create simple seafood dishes with classic flavours using Rick’s recipes.
Great experience. Our waiter was a delight . The restaurant is really nice and my husband apologises for the state he left the tablecloth in after the lobster
Lovely food really enjoyed the flavours, the staff were brilliant such a high quality of service it really won for me
Friendly staff. Service was quite quick.....felt a little rushed. Food great. Starters a little small for the price.
Service and food was mixed. After many years of being big fans of the friendly informal service, it felt a little cold and prefunctory. Food also was mixed, superb langoustines, fish soup and mackerel were let down by very unloved Childs pasta. Fish mains were solid, but not quite to higher standards of previous visits. A great experience here can feel like a wonderful love in of all things sea food, passion felt a little diluted and left happy, but not as beaming you loved up as in previous visits...
Alex our waiter was so helpful and made the experience a memorable one. The food was gorgeous and my Dad and his wife had a wonderful Anniversary. We will definitely come back soon!
We were really looking forward to our meal here, as it was a special occasion. First impression : the restaurant was busy + noisy, too many covers for the space. We were served by 5 different people during the meal - they all seemed busy + harassed. We ordered 2 glasses of wine with our main meal from a waitress - 5 minutes later another waitress came to say she had forgotten what we ordered. Then that waitress came back to say she'd forgotten if we wanted a glass or a bottle. Then we waited 10 minutes - then chased up. Then another 5 minutes til the drinks came - by which time we'd finished the meal. Food was nice enough - but have had same quality for half the price + better service. Gave my feedback to the girl at the counter on our way out - she said somebody would phone us - nobody has. Really disappointed with the experience, especially given the bill at the end......
The service from start to finish was world class. Staff were so attentive but were never overwhelming or intrusive. We chose to go for the lunch menu my food was excellent. Our only small gripe was that some of my wife’s mussels were grainy but this was being very picky!!! Overall I would go to the Seafood Restaurant again tomorrow if we lived locally!
Really lovely dining experience. The restaurant works like a well-oiled machine and service was excellent. Food great and atmosphere relaxed and cheerful. Will be coming back when next in Cornwall.
One of my favourite places to eat in the world
We had a lovely long lunch last Wednesday with family and friends and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the Seafood restaurant. The experience was however marred fairly significantly by our waiter on the day. Although the food and drink was served efficiently our waiter was rather unfriendly and at times patronizing and he never smiled once. He wasn't particularly helpful whilst we were ordering and dealing with our queries on the menu. I am not usually one to complain however when you are spending a lot of money on a special occasion you would expect to have friendly staff to complete the experience. I hope you take this as constructive feedback
Had really high expectations of the meal here but for us it did not live up to that.Lobster salad was overpowered by a ton of salt on the salad a very small portion of the lobster and could not taste the lemon dressing at all. The turbot for main was nice the potatoes and kale accompaniments were not great kale wasn’t even cooked . Dessert was the best course and we enjoyed the chocolate mousse and fondant. Overall disappointing which was a shame as we were so looking forward to it
We have visited a few celebrity Chef restaurants and two of Rick's but Rick's places seem to be head and shoulders better. We ate at Rick's Padstow flagship restaurant and everything was excellent. I honestly couldn't fault it. The food was superb, service was friendly, courteous, professional when needed. The atmosphere was very relaxed and there wasn't one unsmiling staff face they all seemed to be happy even the Chef's. A key to Rick's restaurant success may be that Rick Stein's staff genuinely seem to think he and his wife Jill are great managers and people and this comes across. Definitely go and treat yourself.
My daughter's dish was so small we ordered another plate. It took so long to arrive (when it was only cut slices of ham!), and the rest of us had finished our meal. The kids became restless and the meal was totally spoiled. Our other daughter loves the Mac & Cheese in Stein's in Barnes and was sad not to see any pasta option on the menu. The location is pretty disappointing - overlooking a car park. The wine selection is quite limited. We absolutely love Stein's in Barnes (London) and so this was a big disappointment.
Fantastic food and service in wonderfull setting, also dined at St Petrocs outside and was very Impressed. Regards Sean & Sam.
Wonderful experience, we were given a gift voucher by family so it was a lovely treat for us. We couldn’t fault the delicious food and the service by your lovely staff.
Ext service and sublime food 👍
Had a lovely evening at the Seafood Restaurant. Food and wine were exquisite. Thank you.
Beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Relaxed atmosphere not stuffy at all. Amazing food
The food was exceptional. We really enjoyed the meal. My only slight criticism is that the wait between courses was too long. Other diners sat around us who ordered after us received their food before us. We concluded that this may have been where we were sat. Otherwise it was fantastic.
Our family try to visit from Italy at least once a year and it never disappoints at the Seafood Restaurant for freshness and that real taste of the Cornish coast. Two of our group suffer from coeliac disease but your staff and kitchen are always on top of gluten free options, anticipating choices with friendly suggestions throughout the meal. Special mention for our waiter too. Great service. See you next year.
Traveled from New Zealand and made a point of booking ahead for lunch which was well worth it.
The whole experience was excellent; food and service. The hake starter was superb and so was the sole. The desserts were amazing. The service staff were very friendly and professional. I will definitely dine at Rick stein’s again. The cafe in Padstow is excellent as well.
Confident, polite and skillful staff. Amazing food. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Our favourite restaurant in Cornwall - amazing menu and selection of beautifully and simply prepared seafood - really knowledgable staff and great service. Best Dover Sole on earth! An essential part of a visit to lovely north Cornwall.
