About The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow
Opened by Rick Stein and Jill Stein in 1975, The Seafood Restaurant is famous for establishing an international reputation for the very freshest fish and shellfish, often landed on our doorstep. Head chef, Stephane Delourme and his team create simple seafood dishes with classic flavours using Rick’s recipes.
Another lovely meal. The fruits de mer was amazing.
Great meal and lovely service. Take a seat at the bar for a less formal experience.
Fantastic food and service. Great value too as we chose from the set lunch menu. Will definitely be back for more of the curry!
Great service, food and atmosphere. Really made granny feel special on her 70th birthday!
Great food but the service lets it down.
Our experience at The Seafood Restaurant was excellent. We had a fantastic night. The food was amazing helped along by service that made us feel both welcome and impressed by the high standards. At this point I would like to give a special mention to our waiter Elliot who was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to return myself.
Excellent food. In fact my husband liked the scallops so much he ordered them again for his dessert! Shame we were a party of 5 but squeezed on a table for 4
Had a lovely Dinner and stay (prior to attending cookery school)
The food and wine was great. The downside was the final bill. There were drinks on our bill that we hadn’t had. Also the lobster priced at £29 per person on the menu (we both had this for main course) was priced at £84 for the two of us on our bill. The waitress advised that it was an incorrect price on the ‘system’ and that the drinks had been added in error. This reduced our bill by over £40 and spoilt the exoerience for us. Whilst we can accept an error in the drinks, we could not understand why the price of lobster Thermidor was so different on the menu to the billing system - makes no sense when you are servicing this every day - and the waitress seemed surprised that we were overcharged. This should of been picked up before a customer noticed it, as you obviously serve lobster Thermidor every day! We noticed the table next to us also queried their bill but we do not know what error they found. Our advice to everyone when visiting the seafood restaurant is to check your bill!!!!! That is the reason for the three stars on service and value for money.
My partner and I came here on our trip to Cornwall, for his Birthday. The staff were lovely and very attentive, the starter and main were very enjoyable, as were the drinks. However, when it came to the desert, I found a long hair in my strawberries under my ice cream, which put me off straight away, I don't like to make a scene so I just left it, when the waiter asked if I enjoyed the desert, I mentioned it quietly and I just got a sorry and then that was that. I know it was just a hair, but I feel like when we are spending around £200 for a lunch for a special treat, it just shouldn't have been there to begin with and as it was, the staff perhaps should have done a little more to rectify the mistake? It's a shame, as we probably won't return now. But other than that, it was a lovely! Thank you, Lizzie
We love Rick but with any famous establishment, they can sometimes not live up to expectations. Well, let me tell you, The Seafood Restaurant surpassed our wildest dreams. From the moment we walked in to a very friendly welcome we knew this would be something special. The staff were magnificent, the wine (Rick's favourite Rosé) was delightful but the food, we both agreed, was the nicest we've ever eaten. The quality of the ingredients is just spellbinding, where on earth is Rick sourcing this stuff from? Dover Sole that melts in your mouth, just wow! What a great experience this was. Thank you to everyone for making our night so enjoyable. Jayne & Dom
We had a lovely time but it would be nice if the chefs amuse bouche was tailored to specific dietary needs. As a vegetarian I am always given something I don’t eat and this is disappointing as it feels like the team are not aware of dietary needs which are always clearly noted in my booking. I also appreciate that the restaurant does not focus on vegetarians but it would be nice if the menu could be more varied between visits and perhaps could include elements adapted from the main menu - as an example the stuffed courgette flowers could be stuffed without fish as an alternative.
This the 7th year my family have enjoyed the Seafood restaurant for lunch as an ever growing family 8 this year aged from 72 to 3 and a half 9 of us next year new baby on the way.The standard just never drops and the staff are great.
Outstanding service. And great food Will be bacj
It was sensational just loved it
I can honestly say the best meal me and my partner have ever eaten the whole experience was first class I would recommend the restaurant anytime
A wonderful experience, we will definitely return :)
DELICIOUS FOOD AND WINES. GREAT SERVICE. RESTAURANT WAS BUSY SO THEREFORE NOISY.
Really enjoyable food, service and dining experience.
Hot shellfish starter was great fun and well presented so enjoyed that. The Dover Sole and my partner’s Ray was just drowned in butter to the point where the Sole tasted more like a croissant than a fish. I get the fact that the meal is about the fish but thought the side dishes could have been a lot more interesting. A bit lazy in my opinion. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and it’s a lovely space. Despite being well staffed our waiter was complaining about how long his shift was. He was also unable to discuss or make any recommendations on a wine paring with the meal. Rather than admitting this lack of knowledge I had to ask for the sommelier to help. The best part of the meal was the desert which was excellent. I’m quite used to paying a lot of money for dinners in highly rated restaurants so the price didn’t really put me off but if you charge a premium price you have to deliver a premium service. This experience fell well short however we still enjoyed our evening.
Visited for a birthday meal, outstanding food and staff we incredibly helpful and engaging. A warm and relaxed atmosphere. A huge thank you too for the lovely birthday surprise for my husband when he ordered coffee. It made his day.
The service and food was exceptional. Such an enjoyable experience for me and my new wife! We have bought my new parents in law a £100 voucher to visit, so that they can have the same experience as us. So so amazing.
Attended for an Anniversary, booked a few weeks in advance. Lovely restaurant, excellent service, amazing food. Would definitely recommend.
The whole experience was fantastic. My husband and I were made to feel very welcome, the staff were attentive without being pushy or all over you. And the food!! Well it was just out of this world.
The food was absolutely outstanding. Every mouthful just melted in the mouth. The children were made very welcome by the friendly staff. Great wine choice, which I was also able to purchase from Rick Stein’s shop. Definitely a must to go to when visiting Padstow.
