Another visit only to find that certain dishes not available again! Table next to us told that they had ran out of carrots ! This was a table booked for 3pm and as more people arrived more vanished off the menu. Service ok to start with but don’t say”I’ll bring the bill over”, then forget. Shame, really let’s a good pub that’s worked hard down.
A meal then a quiz made a really good night out. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Asked for a well-known branded drink only to be told it isn't stocked because the owner doesn't like it...…..also told us of another popular drink that isn't stocked for similar reasons?? Had to ask for menus whilst sitting at the bar, prior to taking our seats at allotted table. We gave our order at the bar only to be told a little while later that the duck spring rolls were finished, we chose an alternative, only to be told that also wasn't available. We skipped starters as a consequence. Mains arrived, mine was nice but my partner's steak was very grisly - she left quite a bit of inedible fat/meat, said the vegetables were cold but no attempt was made to rectify, apologise, discount. We won't be going back despite the convenience of it's location to home. Sadly the bonhommerie needs an overhaul as does the menu and butchers'!
Was very quiet and so some jolly music would have cheered it all up! and another staff member as lovely chap was trying to serve food, take orders & run the bar so was a tad disorganised. Great food thank you!
Always good food served here and lovely staff
Excellent as always lovely sunday roast
Got a lovely table at short notice had a nice time thanks 😊
The food was very good..lunch menu needs more variety..2for1 fish and chips great value.. more peas would be nice. We sat at the window lovely view..but when sun came out there was blind ..so got hot behind window.
The steak was overpriced for the quality of meat. The bar had no limes. Prawn avocado need some more imagination for the cost. Overall we had a good time and don’t mind paying £75 a head for pub food / drink but the quality needs raising at that level.
Really great first experience at The Schooner. Recommended by friends, we booked online and arrived early for our table. It was reserved and available, and we were shown to it straightaway. We were offered menus and our waitress took our drinks order. She also mentioned the 2-for-one fish & chips offer - which was quickly ordered. With one arrancini starter and one fruit crumble dessert, we really enjoyed our meals. The excellent service was unhurried and friendly. Great atmosphere too. We'll definitely be back again. Thank you to The Schooner team for a enjoyable first visit.
Very present meal
Held a baby shower in the private function room downstairs & was really happy. The room was spacious & clean, staff were friendly & efficient & the food was delicious. Thanks very much.
The gourmet menu was faultless we used to come here regularly until you changed the menu to "pub grub"which was fine but not for us so really enjoyed Sats food
My Favouitest Venue for lunch with friends of family. (And they are all impressed and come back again for more! We are lucky to have this venue with iwith such a splendid view as an add on!
The service was first class. The food was excellent and hot too.
Tried the new Saturday Gourmet menu with my husband - all the food was delicious and well presented - there is obviously a talented chef in the kitchen. Pub was quiet for a Saturday night but that didn’t detract, and service from both bar staff was warm and welcoming. Would highly recommend.
you are always the venue of choice locally, for all the above reasons! Great place, great view.Magic Ambiance.
Very limited real ales not great quality food good value not great veg with pie but would visit again
Great food and ambience, lovely views too!
More attention is needed to the atmosphere. Back ground music, softer furnishings, warmer and more homely feel. It all feels very sparse. Service was excellent. Food was good as always, although a few more veggies on the adult roast would be great.
Delightful staff, great setting and a lovely Sunday lunch!
Very welcoming, great service and lovely food.
I have written to you separately yesterday replying to your confirmation of booking page. As stated, we were less than impressed with the unavailability of our choice of the food on offer and at least saved some pennies by opting for the 2 for 1 fish and chips, hardly inspiring. No tartare sauce seemed to cap it all. Service was reasonable and friendly. Unlikely to return. On another point it seems strange for correspondence to be addressed to surname only - very military.
I was dismayed to see that the chairs were badly stained & dirty. The menu was very limited. The service was good and the food was good. Overall I was disappointed as I had expected more from looking at the website
Great food with Vegetarian/Vegan/GF options.
