About The Schooner
Located 4 miles west of Brighton and Hove, the Schooner is pleased to offer a gastro pub experience in a relaxed & inviting environment. With a grand view of Lady Bee Marina we offer real ales sourced only from Sussex breweries and a modest but lovingly created wine menu. The bar also has a selection of spirits to entice the most discerning drinker.
Our kitchen is open daily offering a selection of classics. With panoramic views from one of our popular bay windows The Schooner is the ideal place to spend a Sunday afternoon enjoying a roast with good company. Only seconds from the bus (Stagecoach 700) or Southwick Station there is barely a need to use our onsite parking.
When placing a reservation please inform us if you have restricted mobility, need a highchair or plan on bringing a dog.
More attention is needed to the atmosphere. Back ground music, softer furnishings, warmer and more homely feel. It all feels very sparse. Service was excellent. Food was good as always, although a few more veggies on the adult roast would be great.
Delightful staff, great setting and a lovely Sunday lunch!
Very welcoming, great service and lovely food.
I have written to you separately yesterday replying to your confirmation of booking page. As stated, we were less than impressed with the unavailability of our choice of the food on offer and at least saved some pennies by opting for the 2 for 1 fish and chips, hardly inspiring. No tartare sauce seemed to cap it all. Service was reasonable and friendly. Unlikely to return. On another point it seems strange for correspondence to be addressed to surname only - very military.
I was dismayed to see that the chairs were badly stained & dirty. The menu was very limited. The service was good and the food was good. Overall I was disappointed as I had expected more from looking at the website
Great food with Vegetarian/Vegan/GF options.
We commented on the grubbiness of the seats, and they were all changed for us in advance of our main party arriving. The staff were 2nd to none, and were friendly, professional and the whole event was fantastic. Bearing in mind we were serving 31 meals, everyone arrived hot, and no-one complained about any aspect, everyone loved it all. In future the only thing I would say, is that the salve behind the bar area should have been removed, as it was slightly unsightly, but that was the only negative I could give!
One or two other fish options would be nice but otherwise, it was all lovely.
Absolutely faultless!!! Service with a smile, excellent ales, amazing food, great atmosphere....we love it!
I had a lovely birthday lunch!
Mains better than starters
New summer very good. All meals served hot and clean boards/plates at the end. Service great.
Wonderful home made food, catering for vegan and gluten free diets, with a lovely outlook. Very friendly staff and excellent value for money. I am sure we will be back very soon!
Thanks for a lovely evening made the young persons birthday special tthanks malc
Would have liked a little more veg and mash with the roasts but overall very nice.
Great Sunday dinner, pleasant staff
All good thank you
Lovely food and the waitress, Maddie was very accommodating.
We had a very enjoyable evening with family and friends at the Italian evening. The food was delicious and the service, as always, was great. Can't wait until the next themed evening!
Perfect fish and chips!!!
Great pub, great beers(especially Sea-Legs!),great food, great staff how many more greats do you need?.......EXCELLENT.....I think you can take it that we like The Schooner!
We really liked the main but the puddings were a bit of a let down, I had the brownie, now if the little hard bits was the brownie then, I’m guessing that other people have complained as well. We would come again but change your puddings.
There were 8 of us eating. Only 2 enjoyed there meals. My curry was bland my naan bread was soggy. The waiter kept returning to say things were sold out. I would never return and was extremely embarrassed as we took are family there from America after you being recommended. The £158.00 bill was disgusting for the food we received .
Great Sunday Roast - plates were cold though. Friendly service.
