Dinner cut short somewhat as the kitchen was declared flooded after rain.
Great food and friendly service
We stayed in the hotel as well for 3 nights and used the restaurant on all 3 nights, there was no need for us to go and find another restaurant because this good.
thoroughly enjoyed our stay and meal
Nice relaxing meal sat outside on the patio. The food was great and the staff were very helpful.
Everything was great :)
One of the best meals we've had in a long time! Initially the service of the drinks was a little slow but improved throughout the rest of the meal. We had such a good time, we've booked to come again for our anniversary!
Good food and attentive staff
Couldn't fault anything, there was plenty of choice on menu and plenty of it on the plate. Will defiantly be returning
Friendly and efficient service. Nice food in a relaxed atmosphere
Nice food served by friendly and welcoming staff
An enjoyable night very nice pub food good
Excellent value when used with a 25% off voucher.
I’m hoping this review goes directly to the Royal Oak so improvements can be made. I don’t like to leave a bad review but since you asked...Sadly our dinner was underwhelming. The 2 bottles of wine we ordered were both unavailable. The steak pie was like a shop bought ‘Cowards’ pie, out of a foil tray, despite other guests being served a very impressive looking round pie. The curried salmon dish I ordered was served with undercooked and tasteless king prawns. The Parmentier potatoes served with the hake were virtually raw (I doubt they had seen any roasting) and all the vegetables served had been steamed for about 1 minute (massively undercooked despite me liking crunchy vegetables). I hope you can sort this all out. Your menu sounded good but was disappointing and with good local competitors and the Morris Dancer about to open you will struggle to survive unless food is right. Shame for a lovely local pub! I hope my comments are taken in the right way and help to improve things!
We booked lunch for a party of 9 and all enjoyed our dining experience. The food was delicious (steak and ale pie's for lunch are definitely the way forward) and the service was wonderful too. Very many thanks to all who served us and cooked for us - you were all great!
Excellent food and service ensured a very enjoyable evening. Thank you.
Perfect venue for our birthday celebration. Enjoyed by all our 25 guests. The Manager & Staff were extremely efficient helpful & friendly resulting in a very relaxed atmosphere.. Thank you to the kitchen staff too who did us proud..
Lovely meal. Wrong pizza given, easy mistake because it sounded like another one. New pizza offered lots of times but we didn't change it. Daughter was ok with it. They didn't charge for it even though our daughter ate it. I have been many times before including with a very large group of work colleagues and always been warmly welcomed. Would recommend to friends.
Outstanding food and very good service !
Excellent experience. Will be returning for certain.
Starters: Koftas lacked taste and were lukewarm. Mains: Short beef ribs were overpowered by the sauce. Sizzling fajitas were too spicy. Crust on Beef and Ale pie was virtually uncuttable. Desserts: Ice cream was fine but the portions were very small compared to other restaurants at the price charged.
Excellent service and dog friendly which is a bonus
