We had a super lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Oak. Staff were helpful and we liked the food very much. We wish them every success and will be back. Best wishes Ken Lynda Jan Peter and Jasper the dog
Would have been good to see a lunch menu & maybe a drinks menu but understand in current times to keep things stripped back! Lovely food, brilliant service will be back again!
Had a lovely Christmas Eve meal would visit again
Very friendly staff, nice food, reasonable prices
Good service and a nice cosy place. Turkey dinner was fantastic
Pleasant experience but the food doesn't justify 'fantastic' and Covid seems to have pushed up prices (possiby everywhere)
Excellent evening ..... as always ! Lovely to be back & the Xmas decorations are absolutely beautiful Thank You 😘 see you again very soon
Lovely meal in a cosy setting! Food was amazing. I would definitely recommend.
Felt safe dining - tables well spaced out. Prompt & polite service by Rohini. Would question whether some patrons were adhering to the “no household mixing indoors” - while they kept to their own tables, they were obviously all together: felt the rules were being stretched.
Lovely food, we’ve been coming for years. Only downside is the last couple times we have been there has been some quite loud and rowdy customers. There should be an etiquette to follow, and unfortunately a few don’t follow that or appreciate that others are trying to have a nice quiet meal! Felt like telling them to be quiet myself. No staff really told them to be quiet or atleast bring the volume down a bit. Other than that, lovely food
Could not fault this restaurant/bar from the hand sanitizers on entrance to the social distancing set out inside and all the staff were wearing masks so that’s the government’ guidelines done now where do I start staff amazing food second to none and service faultless it was my birthday treat and I wasn’t disappointed thank youl to everyone who made us feel safe and wanted last night
Nice choice on the menu, I am vegetarian and felt I had a good choice. Food was lovely and the staff were very friendly.
Food was excellent. Good covid precautions. Friendly staff.
Love the Royal Oak - our favourite restaurant
'Old' menu on website was only reason we booked...so no mussels or ribs was a GREAT disappointment. The crust on the steak and ale pie as inedible. Return visit highly unlikely
A friendly and pleasant visit with good food
Very enjoyable meal to celebrate my son's birthday. We visit a couple of times per year and are likely to continue.
Enjoyable evening with good food and drink. Surprised that no staff were wearing face coverings/PPE and didn’t feel comfortable with drinks customers getting their own drinks from the bar.
Lovely meal with friendly prompt service
My dad is disabled and takes him quite a while to walk, the staff were extremely tentative. It was also lovely that we were recognised from a previous visit on Christmas Day.
Saturday afternoon lunch, mid pandemic so pretty quiet but that’s not their fault and there was hand sanitiser everywhere you looked. The service was great and the food was fabulous. Have eaten here, and stayed here, a couple of times and it’s been faultless every time. They’re doing a brilliant job!!
First time going out since February. Felt OK afterwards as they handled everything really well. Food was nice and had a good time.
Very slow and unfriendly service. Waitress forget to tell the barman our second drinks order and had to go to bar myself. Very unsensere apology for this The waitresses seemed more interested in chatting at the bar instead of customer focused. One main was butternut squash shepards pie which promised so much but lacked in seasoning however side veg was nice. Sadly the pizza tasted like a super market own and had far too much cheese which made it greasy and bland First and only visit. Disappointing
Great food and friendly attentive staff
Service was great, table was ready when we arrived. Was able to order drinks and food quickly. It was busy but staff were still attentive. Food was good, the fish was a little wet but not sure if it was residue from the peas (which were amazing). All in all it was great and very well run. The eat out scheme just topped it off. Would definitely return again. Thank you!
