About The Royal Hotel
Serving classic British and international a la carte dishes with a modern twist using fresh, seasonal, local products. With period décor, including extensive cornice work, the restaurant provides a wonderful dining experience with superb views across the Thames - including the world famous pier.
The restaurant serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
Personally can not fault the staff service or experience... the food and value was shocking 80 pounds for three cocktails half a sandwich and finger nibbles of hard cakes bit much. If you offered bree, salmon or prawns with jam on scones maybe would have been better. Personally ive had better sandwiches at kids parties. My sister gave me 45 worth of vouchers for Christmas so i didn't pay for the lunch if I did I would have complained on the day. Cocktails were lovely tho and great view
The building is wonderful, staff were amazing. Just a Little disappointed on the selection of sandwiches, not enough. Tea and coffee Was plenty. I would recommended for the atmosphere but not the actual lunch itself. But it was a lovely afternoon.
Held my friend 50th afternoon tea party here it’s a Wonderful hotel very clean and spot on with fantastic team of staff with friendly smiles. Toby was our fabulous waiter with another young lady who was also very attentive but didn’t catch her name they was fabulous. Thanks to both of them.
I booked this up for a group of 8 of us. we had great seats and found the comedy quite entertaining. Dinner however for us was a bit shambolic, the waiter took only 7 orders from us, which i picked up on as the lady sitting next to me didn't get asked for her order,I got up and found our waiter to find out if he had 7 or 8 meals on his notepad, to find he actually had only written down 6! He had missed one of our meals out (Sausage and mash) which i know had been ordered as this was the order for the person sitting opposite me. Once we had all 8 orders in the waiter then came back to let us know that some of the meals were not available on the menu (Royal Burgers and Fish and Chips) meaning we had to order alternatives. When the food arrived we then had to wait a significant amount of time after receiving 7 of our meals for the sausage and mash to arrive, one wonders whether the sausage and mash had still been missed!? Throughout the comedy we ordered several drinks as a party of 8 but when the bill arrived we were surprised at how high the bill was, one of our party had been drinking gin and tonic most or the evening we didn't realise these were in excess of £10 per serving which in my opinion is quite expensive for gin and tonic, we wasn't sure if this was a particularly premium gin or if alternative regular gins were available, perhaps a little naive but it would have been nice to be advised on this at the time of ordering as this made for quite an awkward end to the evening when settling the bill for our party of 8.
It was just abit cold in the upstairs dining room
I cannot thank the team enough for all of your assistance with the lead up to my friends hen do and the day itself. A member of our party was in a wheelchair and required a number of things put in place in preparation for the afternoon tea due to suffering from ill health. Everyone I spoke to at the Royal Hotel went above and beyond to help us and for that we cannot thank you enough. You took away all the worries we had and ensured that we had the best experience. The service on the day was perfect with the two members of staff catering to our every need. Thank you again for everything.
no mussels, no sirloin steak, the fillet steak not cooked right.soup and taglietelli bland, eaton mess not right. music too loud. the drinks were good. very disappointing evening
We booked for a leaving lunch for our colleague. We had a lovely table on the first floor with fabulous views out to sea. The décor is gorgeous and opulent - perfect for a wedding! The waiter was friendly and efficient. Food was good - we had a mix of burgers, the home made pie and small plates - there were no complaints! The only downside was we had to wait a long time for our food. The table was booked for 12.15 but we did not get our food until after 1pm. We would have ordered dessert if we'd had time! We were a table of 8 but even so an explanation or apology would have been good.
Staff are very attentive and friendly. Food are great. The atmosphere is very nice.
Good menu choices, food delicious accompanied by fine wine and good customer service. Have been a number times and never dissatisfied. Will be returning.
The food was incredible however we went on 4th January and the Ballroom was so cold and they had portable heaters to try and warm the guests up. Not ideal as it was so cold in there.
Thank you for the hire of Dr Legba's bar. We had a fantastic night! A special thanks to Gabe! He was absolutely brilliant on the bar and was great fun. The space was perfect for our party and we were well looked after. You were very accomodating with our requests throughout the booking process. Hope to come back again soon!
Fantastic as always
Can't fault it at all - brilliant way to spend Xmas
Our first visit here for new years eve, and it was just ok. The waiter service was good. The buffet that was provided wasn't great. The singer and band were way too loud for the size of the room. We paid £75 per person for our table all night, waiter service, the buffet and the singer and band, also we were allowed to go to the cocktail bar and listen to the dj. I noticed all the people that had obviously paid their £75 or more ( if they had drinks included) but after 10pm there were more and more faces that appeared, especially just before midnight and receiving free glass of bubbles and then left shortly afterwards,. I don't think these people paid what we did, so had no reason being there! I counted a total of 15 faces that weren't there from 8pm. So leads me to say that we need not pay that amount of money because you're allowed to join in anyway! Not happy with our first experience here and probably won't be returning for another new year!
Christmas Day Lunch. Fabulous! Wasn't rushed, great service. Good food and Atmosphere. Felt very relaxed. Thank you to all your team.
We did not receive the coffee and mince pies which formed part of the menu. Had to go downstairs for lots of the drinks, we weren’t offered a table service for drinks. The cod main was not very warm and lacked in a carbohydrate side. The comedy club element was fantastic, but the disco lacked atmosphere despite good music being played.
We had a lovely family meal on Christmas Day. The service and food was amazing. We were not rushed, the food was of a high quality and all the staff were happy and professional.
Fabulous service friendly courteous staff nothing too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Great service, lovely food
We came for Sunday lunch & waited over an hour for our food.... the beef roast dinners were amazing & the Manager compensated us for the delay.
Perfect for a few pre dinner drinks
We celebrated my brothers 40th birthday with a drinks reception at the Royal Hotel. The staff were excellent and very attentive. We had the perfect evening and will definitely book for future events.
