About The Royal Hotel
Serving classic British and international a la carte dishes with a modern twist using fresh, seasonal, local products. With period décor, including extensive cornice work, the restaurant provides a wonderful dining experience with superb views across the Thames - including the world famous pier.
The restaurant serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
The food came up slightly cold, but the staff dealt with the issue in an exemplary way and added in a very good way to the experience
It would be nice to serve a dairy free spread with the toast on a vegan breakfast and also to have the option of soya milk for coffee and tea, especially when notified of vegan dietary requirements at time of booking. Other than that, lovely staff, lovely food and lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely return.
Fantastic meal, and to be honest, one of the most flavoursome meals I have had in a long time.
Lovely afternoon tea, great savoury nibbles and excellent service!
We had a fantastic meal here and would visit again
Great level of service and the food was very food. The only issue wasn’t the bill when we were over charged by £22. One charge was for sweet potato fries which we order but we’re told that the kitchen didn’t have. £18 was for a bottle of Malbec we didn’t even order. Rectified by the waiter but we shouldn’t have to do that and it should never have been charged to our table. Overall a nice meal.
We had a lovely meal, with good service. I am gluten free and they were really helpful and the chef prepared my lamb without any herb crumb.. Really enjoyed the food except the black and white carrots ... They were horrible.. but I think that is personal taste.
Great food. Lovely setting.
A lovely selection of savouries with the afternoon tea which you don’t usually get. The little cakes/sweets were amazing! The tea was refilled when we asked but maybe would have liked to have been offered different varieties, only a small thing and we had the prosecco anyway after.
I was really disappointed with the level of service we received. After spending £132 on 6 afternoon teas we were left to wait for 15 minutes on arrival, with no milk 3/4 times after asking repeatedly, waiting for a hot chocolate 10 minutes after the other drinks arrived (despite asking for it), asking for a jug of tap water 3/4 times, waiting for the bill for 15 minutes etc - it seemed as we were only having afternoon tea and not the Sunday roast we were just left. There were so many people crammed together that the noise volume was really high. After being recommended to try here for a ‘big’ birthday I would not be recommending it to others.
Sunday lunch was lovely ... cocktails gorgeous ... staff really friendly ... couldn’t fault anything ... I’ve had afternoon tea here and bar food ... I would give the whole experience 10 out of 10 x
Visited on Friday 20th April. Had a works leaving do in Dr Legbas bar in the basement. Fantastic night, great decor and atmosphere, music was spot on, and most importantly, our mixologist for the night Billy was on the top of his game! Knew how to make just about anything and everything. (love those classics!) Food we pre-ordered was great and someone in our party who hadn't pre-ordered still got their food in good time. Definitely recommend hiring it out exclusively as we did, made it that extra bit special. Thanks to all the Royal Hotel team who I dealt with leading up to the night so everything was sorted for our Linda's big send off!
Amazing service and food. The chef made exceptional food and my partner said it was one of the best meals he had ever had - I agree! We can't wait to visit again.
