About The Royal George
Located on Irsha Street, at the meeting point of the Taw and Torridge rivers, our waterside pub is in the perfect position to take in the superb view across the estuary.
At The Royal George we aim to deliver a locally sourced menu of the highest quality, with innovative dishes and twists on traditional classics. Our talented kitchen team selects the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. Our lovingly put together wine list has been created to compliment the food. We also have a selection of beers, ciders, and gin - many locally made in North Devon and the surrounding area.
Lovely experience food service both excellent only wish we had more time to visit again!
Great food, great service, great pork bite nibbles.
Lovely evening, great food and service. Just some of the diners were too LOUD.
Great views, service, dog friendly. Very tasty curry sauce.
The Lobster was absolutely delicious Thank you
Best food I’ve had in a long time, great wine, lovely staff and amazing views. Could not fault it!
This was our first visit and definitely not the last. Gorgeous food and great service. Highly recommend
We came for lunch on a dull weekday. The fish dishes wowed us and brightened our day. The food and service were excellent. Great location and view of the estuary. Would certainly recommend. Thank you.
Can not recommend enough - excellent spot on the estuary with great views. Menu just the right size and the food was fantastic - planned for one course and had three! Staff very welcoming and professional
I took my friend for lunch ( late birthday treat) As I have eaten at the Royal George before I knew what to expect. We were not disappointed this time,my friend was very impressed, she said the Lobster was orgasmic! Service very good, and Covid safe. Looking forward to my next visit at New year,if not before. Thank you for a memorable lunch.
Lovely food, friendly service and great location with views across the water. Covid precautions were outstanding. When a table was vacated, staff not only cleaned and disinfected the table, but the chairs as well.
Excellent food and excellent service in a well-run Covid secure environment.
I only put 3 fir atmosphere because of the covid restrictions imposed on you . It was the best meal I have had in a while and the waiter was so helpful with my wine choices
Warm and friendly atmosphere, staff very professional. The food was exceptional with a variety to suite everyone. I would highly recommend to all my friends
Really lovely food, with polite staff. Under these difficult times they managed very well and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you.

Read the on line reviews and decided to book a table during our stay in Appledore. This was our first meal out since lockdown, lovely location, great service and staff knowledgable about the menu. Food was beautifully cooked and presented, and most importantly delicious. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again
Excellent food, excellent service Really enjoyed our visit thank you
Excellent as usual. A lovely place to visit for that special occasion, or any occasion.
Friendly staff, amazing views and great food. My daughter is vegetarian and thought that mushroom risotto was not very adventurous compared to the other main meals so had the beetroot starter as a mains and the cauliflower soup as a starter but she is use to there only being very little choice . An interesting salad would have been nice.
Great meal, pleasant surroundings. Great staff.
Delicious food, amazing view and wonderful fresh air, topped off with great service.
Very well prepared and interesting food, with very friendly service.
All the food was superb, the service was excellent - both very efficient, friendly and charming, the restoration of The Royal George has been very tastefully and charmingly done, and you have a fabulous view. If you want to eat fine food and wash it down with good, local beer, this is definitely the place to visit; these people care. PS. You might want to consider parking in the car park before you arrive at the pub as the final road is......interesting to drive down!
