About The Royal George
Located on Irsha Street, at the meeting point of the Taw and Torridge rivers, our waterside pub is in the perfect position to take in the superb view across the estuary.
At The Royal George we aim to deliver a locally sourced menu of the highest quality, with innovative dishes and twists on traditional classics. Our talented kitchen team selects the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. Our lovingly put together wine list has been created to compliment the food. We also have a selection of beers, ciders, and gin - many locally made in North Devon and the surrounding area.
Really lovely food and setting, we’ve booked to come again!
We had a lovely evening , food excellent , service very good , almost too good ! My only other comment would be to not rush the service quite so much , hold back slightly in between courses. Fantastic location and as a local will enjoy coming back again , thx.
I came as was recommended by a friend and the venue is absolutely stunning, the staff were polite and professional. My friend raved about the food so we thought we must try it. We were a little disapointed with our meal, the curry wasn't amazing but the puddings were good. We will come back again but we will try something else for our main.
Good food and excellent service.
Fabulous meal. The menu is interesting and varied and the food beautifully cooked.
Superb experience. Perfect night, catching up with friends. The makeover has done you proud. Will definitely be recommending.
Fabulous food and generally good service if a little inattentive at times. Couple of extras on our bill which we didn't order but I think this is just minor teething troubles for a new venue. Overall a very good experience which we will look forward to repeating.
Excellent food presented at a high level and really lovely surroundings and views. The reason we awarded service 4 stars instead of five was the fact that our drinks order was wrong, however it was quickly rectified. Everything else was excellent and we look forward to returning.
We have eaten there a few times now and food as always been very good and lovely and friendly
Beautiful setting, menu was mainly fish and not too easy to read? Eg PSB - purple stem brocolli!! We had to call the waitress over to explain quite a few dishes, which seemed to be written in code? a brief description would really help! Easier for us who are a little ignorant to fish names? Also, We booked for 7pm so early evening and the steak had sold out? But once our meals arrived we all enjoyed the food. We will return and have been before at lunchtime and that menu was amazing! Lovely, polite staff too x
Absolutely superb - friendly staff, amazing food and great wine - we will definitely be back for more!
Our first visit and not our last. What a lovely place, great staff and fab food - thank you!
Found the roast beef meat to be Luke warm. The rest of the vegetables were ok.
Lovely lunch, wonderful view and waiting staff very helpful and friendly. Can't wait to come back for an evening meal.
Excellent food, lovely setting and nice friendly service
Veggie curry was way too spicy need to take some heat out of it
Outstanding food and service in a lovely setting with friendly helpful staff. It really was excellent. We will be going back asap.
Amazing food and great service. Sat right near the chefs and could tell they were doing a great job and getting the brilliant food out, great views of the sea too.
I’ve been looking forward to eating out at the Royal George since it opened at Easter. Booking and our welcome were great. Three out of the four of us enjoyed our meals very much, but my wife had the Loin of Lamb which was extremely tough and not pleasant. Puddings were good. Our waitress was brilliant, but service could be greatly improved with some staff training in food service. I’d be very happy to go into further detail if wanted. Thank you. Andrew
Great Sunday Roast ! Lovely atmosphere, great views, attentive staff. Looking forward to our next visit .
Great to have our first Sunday lunch with you - super tasty!
We're really glad we booked for lunch on a Sunday as people were being turned away as it was fully booked. Really lovely table and view downstairs. The food was excellent, maybe a little over priced for Sunday lunch with a main, dessert and 2 drinks £60 but the food was brilliantly presented and really tasty. The service was good but attention to detail like clearing away tables or our plates sooner would be good. I know it was busy and the servers were friendly and pleasant but just that small attention to detail would be great. It didn't diminish our enjoyment. We would definitely visit again. Loved the decor and really liked the atmosphere.
Venue is really lovely and has been restored beautifully. Nice atmosphere and made to feel welcome.
Don't stop what you are doing! Excellent food, great service at excellent value..cannot say anymore. Have recommended already.
Table was not ready on time or in the location we reserved. Food was tasty and good atmosphere.
