About The Royal George
Located on Irsha Street, at the meeting point of the Taw and Torridge rivers, our waterside pub is in the perfect position to take in the superb view across the estuary.
At The Royal George we aim to deliver a locally sourced menu of the highest quality, with innovative dishes and twists on traditional classics. Our talented kitchen team selects the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. Our lovingly put together wine list has been created to compliment the food. We also have a selection of beers, ciders, and gin - many locally made in North Devon and the surrounding area.
Really lovely place, amazing views, friendly and helpful staff and great food!
We had a fantastic evening, from start to finish. The restaurant & the facilities were very clean, very tidy. The staff were polite & friendly, we weren't hassled at all & didn't feel as if we were being watched for empty plates to be whisked away. The food was amazing, we came away looking forward to visiting again & recommending The Royal George to family & friends.
Set lunch very good value for money. Service was quick and the staff knowledgeable.
We had an excellent meal with lots of lovely flavours.Good service and we will certainly be coming back.
Just a great venue, superb food, friendly staff
As always - excellent food - locally sourced - extensive choices and different arrangements - good value and excellent service
have visited the royal george many times since it has re opened, consistently excellent food, great staff and beautiful location. would highly recommend it.
Thank you for a great evening Top food Top service
whenever I have friends to visit I always bring them to the royal George, fantastic food as always, cauliflower soup was one of the best soups I have ever tried, stunning location, never tire of that view
Great setting... disappointed with monkfish, was expecting nice chunks not little ends, sauce good.
Had a great time, food and wine was excellent, as was the atmosphere. Loved the storey of the renovation wallpaper. My husband would love you to be our local, but just a little too far as we live in the midlands!
Fabulous! Tasty! A delight!
After my first visit since the refurb, I had high expectations again this time and wasn’t disappointed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Royal George, and had two friends book after our meal for a table of 12 and one for 4. Excellent.
Great food, great atmosphere and very friendly staff.
We had the set lunch menu and found it very good value and the food was absolutely delicious! My daughter raved about the fries that came with her children's meal and she is a chip expert, so that is high praise indeed coming from her! It was our second visit and we will definitely be returning again.
We have now dined at the Royal George four times and have enjoyed every visit. Staff are friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The building’s refurbishment has been tastefully carried out. We appreciate the real white napkins too!
The food and atmosphere was great. The service was a bit slow, but since we were on holiday this didn't bother us. Will definitely return to try another item from the menu.
An outstanding meal on Wednesday evening; the best yet. Went over the water the next night and it did not come anywhere near. IMO the Royal George has raised the bar for dining in this area.
Excellent dinner, great to have good vegetarian options with something a bit different. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful with our choices. Have already booked to go back again!
Excellent food, excellent service would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a lovely meal with cracking views
Our second visit this month! Thoroughly enjoyed an incredible roast lunch
Had a lovely meal, fab service with happy smiley staff. Heard lots of negative comments but glad to see it’s not the case. Lived in Appledore 30 yrs it’s a welcome change, still not sure about dog friendly bar be nice to frequent one establishment that isn’t... sorry no offence but I don’t like sharing my dining experience with a dog! Time and a place? Only saying thanks again but will always eat upstairs
A window or balcony seat gives exceptional views across the estuary, a perfect backdrop to a very fine dining experience
Great location well cooked and presented food ,staff helpful ,only issue was the beer
Great service and food.
