About The Royal George
Located on Irsha Street, at the meeting point of the Taw and Torridge rivers, our waterside pub is in the perfect position to take in the superb view across the estuary.
At The Royal George we aim to deliver a locally sourced menu of the highest quality, with innovative dishes and twists on traditional classics. Our talented kitchen team selects the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. Our lovingly put together wine list has been created to compliment the food. We also have a selection of beers, ciders, and gin - many locally made in North Devon and the surrounding area.
Simply the best brunch ever! Lunch and dinner are great too! But there is something very relaxing about a fantastic brunch to make Sunday’s the best!
Great service, lovely food, great view, family and dog friendly
Thank you again for a fantastic evening. We have been back many times this year and always enjoy the food and atmosphere in this wonderful restaurant in beautiful Appledore.
Lovely small hotel with a superb restaurant and wonderful views over the estuary with an exemplary service and delightful staff.
A very special place. Especially so during these difficult times.
Very good food. Guck leg Scotch egg was amazing. Very friendly service. Nice choice of wines by the glass and the bottle. Downstairs atmosphere was Ok but disrupted a little by a family of 3 playing cards at the next table. Unusual at dinner. Overall would recommend and go again.
The Royal George was a wonderful find for an amazing meal, we had the beetroot cured salmon followed by sea bass, both dishes were delicious and we would thoroughly recommend them, although it was a difficult decision to choose because everything on the menu sounded great. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful but never intrusive and their attention to covid safety was outstanding. We would definitely come again when in the area. Thank you to all the team at The Royal George.
The pub is really nicely done inside and the view is amazing. The service couldn’t be faulted and the staff were lovely. The meals that we had were some of the best food we’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be returning!
An 5 star venue for a meal with friends
Excellent food and service
We have had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back again. The family room has been perfect for our family of four. The service and food (breakfast and dinner) has been absolutely outstanding. We would particularly recommend TRG for their attention to detail and coping with our long list of dietary requirements. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Excellent service, wonderful views and fantastic food. What more could you ask for? Oh yes exceedingly well priced as well. Thank you Royal George for a great evening.
Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. We are visitors to Appledore and a meal at The Royal George is such a treat. We are made to feel so welcome and even our spaniel enjoys the experience. Please carry on doing what you do.....a very special place😀.
We are local..ish and have been several times before. I have to say the food was amazing. We both said ours was the best and could happily have the same when we visit again. Not saying we haven't enjoyed previously, just a great Autumn menu choice. Lovely atmosphere even though it was lunch time, and perfect service. We love it there.
Great food as always and superb location
A gem of a place. The perfect place to celebrate a special birthday. Food and service were amazing
Best food in Appledore - and there is good competition. Food was fantastic, service excellent, beautiful views. Just brilliant all round.
Delicious food, friendly service and beautiful views... what more could you ask.
Food was delicious and the staff are just wonderful, they looked after us so well!
Another lovely meal ( the lamb chop pie was a triumph). A meal at the RG is now a must whenever we visit Devon. So good to see such attention to beer variety and quality. Full marks to everyone
The Royal George is a must if you like good ale and food. The kitchen knows how to cook fish, we had local caught Brill it was delicious. Being in The Times top 50 places to stay and in the Good Food is thoroughly deserved. You need to book so not to be disappointed.
Superb food, excellent service - great evening thank you.
Faultless food, drink and service in a fantastic location with a view to die-for!
Great lobster and chips. Fish dish with fondant leeks outstanding.
