About The Royal George
Located on Irsha Street, at the meeting point of the Taw and Torridge rivers, our waterside pub is in the perfect position to take in the superb view across the estuary.
At The Royal George we aim to deliver a locally sourced menu of the highest quality, with innovative dishes and twists on traditional classics. Our talented kitchen team selects the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. Our lovingly put together wine list has been created to compliment the food. We also have a selection of beers, ciders, and gin - many locally made in North Devon and the surrounding area.
We had a lovely evening. The food was perfect & the staff very attentive. Will be back the next time we are in the area. Thank you.
A great Sunday lunch
Generally a good experience with good food and CRABBIES!. I'm Coeliac and the manager/waiter was very efficient and knowledgeable, which always helps.
Great food and service
Amazing food , atmosphere and brilliant staff !
We will definitely be back!
Nice real ales
We arrived at your restaurant with high expectations and can truly say they were surpassed. The delightful dining room , very pleasant staff ,and a warm welcome , were followed by a delicious meal at an affordable price. we have booked for a follow up evening meal for three on evening of Friday 15th February , and our friends Mr & Mrs Hockin are also taking our advice and lunching with you on Friday. You can number us among your most satisfied customers.
An excellent lunch in all respects.
Already a firm favourite, we recommend you to everyone. Great to have a quality restaurant in this area
We all really enjoyed our lunch with you, food absolutely delicious, brilliant staff, lovely location and atmosphere. What a wonderful job you have done in re-vamping 'The Royal George' thank you for giving us such a wonderful time. Fantastic, everybody should visit
Fabulous fresh fish. Good wine selection. Excellent attitude to dealing with food allergies. Top marks. Oh, and beautiful location.
This is our second visit to The Royal George & a fabulous evening was had by all! The whole experience was faultless & I’m almost tempted not to leave a review so that we can keep you a secret! Thank you & looking forward to a return visit.
Great service and delicious food. Thank you
Yet another great meal in this lovely pub; a delight in any season.
A lovely meal served beautifully by polite friendly cheerful staff
A great experience, it was lovely to drink out of Dartington glassware, good to see you are using local companies. Just one issue, my mother in law found the lock on the loo door very stiff and panicked a little as she thought she was locked in. On a positive note I am looking forward to coming again in a few weeks time.
This would be the 5th time I have eaten at The Royal George since the refurb, with various groups of friends. Yesterday was my birthday and we celebrated with friends who haven’t had the experienced previously. They were very impressed, and I think they will be returning at the slightest opportunity. I hope they invite me! The food, service, and a great table in the conservatory was perfect. Thank you.
The food we ordered was disappointing, the main problem was some of it was under cooked, the restaurant wasn't busy, so no excuses there. The smoked trout was very rubbery and pretty inedible. The one positive was that the young manager gave us free deserts by way of an apology. Kitchen needs imrovement.
Fantastic lunch that were we're all looking forward to, espeically as we'd been checking online menus many times in advance and following trg_appledore on IG in anticipation.. did not let us down.. keep up the good work!
We ate in The Royal George 4 times during our stay over the New Year and each time was consistantly good. The food was excellent and the menu changed each day. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was good. We would certainly recommend it and will return when we next come to stay.
Food exquisite, could of a couple more prawns on the starter but that’s my only criticism
Really lovely lunch
Stunning location, good service. Will definitely be back
We spent a very memorable afternoon at the Royal George over Christmas. The dining area, with it's view over the Estuary, is stunning; as was the welcome, the food and the service. I would happily recommend and will re-visit.
