About Pen & Cob
The Bedford Swan's riverside British Brasserie open all day for brunch, lunch or dinner as well as cocktails, coffee and much more!
We always love it here. Brilliant service and yummy food! Thanks as always
Er not great at all. Very disappointing. Staff and atmosphere were flat. Loads of the drink syrups were no in stock and we were not told about this. Before that there is a very limited cocktail menu. No real service as we had to ask for loads of things even though it’s lockdown so wasn’t even busy. Could have tried a lot harder. Won’t be going back sorry
A very enjoyble meal
Extremely nice afternoon tea... food and drink very good quality and well presented... lovely surroundings only slightly marred by building work going on close by in the hotel but not a lot you can do about that.Value for money,we booked with friends also booking and on the day were able to be seated nearby so adhering to the current guidelines ...Would definitely do it again.Good selection of sandwiches and pastries .
I enjoyed a delightful Afternoon Tea with a friend in Anna's tea room. The decor was beautiful, warm and relaxing, and we were given excellent service. The food was served beautifully and was most delicious. I will certainly recommend this tea room, and the wonderful Afternoon tea.
Took my son & Mother out for Christmas lunch. The service and food were very excellent. Atmosphere not quite as good as usual but probably down to the lack of dinners! It was a very quiet Monday. Will definitely be back in the new year
We thoroughly enjoyed our Afternoon Tea, and love the refurb of the hotel. The only comment I would make is fo waiting staff to be more aware of H&S when serving a table with a young baby (8 months) in a high chair at the table - our waitress consistently placed every single item right in front of the baby, including the pot of tea.
Really enjoyed our evening. Service, staff, food and wine was excellent. The decor is amazing !' Atmosphere was quiet owing to a Sunday evening and lockdown. Will definitely return when we can. Thankyou Sue Horn
great afternoon tea, the room is beautifully decorated and the service was great.
The vegetarian main from the Christmas menu had run out. Thankfully I eat fish so I had the fish cakes as the substitute but I think you should have at least two vegetarian options and ensure you don’t run out during peak Christmas times! The menu as a whole doesn’t seem to be very vegetarian friendly which is quite surprising for such a modern restaurant. I think you could do with a few more options for veggies/vegans. The wine we chose was also not in stock so felt a little disappointed with the food and drink options. Otherwise a lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and decently priced. The food was delicious too.
Fantastic food. Great service. The restaurant looks great and felt very safe
Excellent service (thank you Holly), very good food - and as usual a good atmosphere. Many thanks.
lovely setting. Great food... the beef shin was amazing. waitress was excellent.
The shin of beef was excellent
We booked for afternoon tea yesterday for my husband and I and our 2 children. We arrived on time, we stood waiting for around 5-7minutes before anyone came to greet us, when they did there was no welcome, just mumbled and asked what name the booking was under. We were then shown to our table where they were still cleaning and hoovering, after waiting a few minutes they gave me and left leaving half the mess under the table. Our waitress was lovely and couldn’t fault her at all, however there was just no atmosphere at all, we were stuck next to a noisy coffee machine that kept going off every few minutes (steaming) even though no coffee was being made. There was no Christmas music or music of any kind, the kids were so disappointed as we’d need promising them all week about afternoon tea at a fancy hotel, the food was terrible for kids, we asked for cheese and ham sandwiches but it was the worlds strongest cheese which they hated and also really thick carvery ham which they struggled to eat. Overall really disappointed as we were looking for a really festive, fancy treat and it wasn’t anything like we had expected.
We truly enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea in a beautifully decorated setting. Highly recommended.
The restaurant setting is very classy . Nice food and brilliant atmosphere overall. X
Great food reasonably priced in great surroundings. Lovely friendly waitress and completely Covid compliant.
Great place for tea and coffee! Nice atmosphere.
Only marked the atmosphere down because at the moment it is very quiet with all the restrictions. Food as good as ever, so nice to be able to go out.
Love the venue beautiful hotel and restaurant
It was disappointing having chosen a starter to be told when ordering that it was not available. Having ordered main course waitress returned to the table and said " You are going to hate me but that is not available" An unprofessional remark to make and indicative of poor staff training. When being seated and given the menu I would expect to be told at that point what is not available. Not having learnt of this I overheard another diner being told after ordering that the starter option was not available. not the level of service I have previously enjoyed at The Swan
Lovely evening and great service
A fabulous meal out, in this gorgeous restaurant and hotel...just what we needed after lockdown 2.0.
We had a delightful evening, the food was good, wonderfully serviced in a pleasant atmosphere; we will be back. Many thanks to Michael and Holly.
