About Pen & Cob
The Bedford Swan's riverside British Brasserie open all day for brunch, lunch or dinner as well as cocktails, coffee and much more!
I had booked for three people for afternoon tea. At the last minute, my three year old daughter came along with us. We thought she would be charged half price as she is a child, but were charged full adult price for her. I didnt argue with this too much as we had a lovely time, sandwiches and cakes were very fresh. We took our left over scones home which were presented back to us in a foil swan. The glass of prosecco was a large one. The waitress and waiter were welcoming and friendly, offering more tea. Suggestion: I booked online. There could be a child option when selecting how many people are coming. Like many other places that offer afternoon tea, there should be a child price on the menu. The manager could have politely offered a discretionary child price. However, we loved it. And will hopefully be back again soon. But would argue about a child price first.
Booked Friday ate in an open area near hotel reception as Restuarant booked out to coach party no atmosphere what so ever. Bill presented was incorrect so had to point out to server who had it amended. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to a good meal experience
A lovely waiter and waitress but we waited a long time for our breakfasts to arrive, this is sometimes the case here, slow service, one of my party had a train to catch but she did make it. Food was good and nicely presented, waiting time does let this restaurant down
Enjoyed our lunch with friends in newly refurbished bright and airy restaurant. Very generous meal portions and reasonably priced drinks. £15 lunch offer was an added incentive.
Throughly enjoyed dining at the Pen & Cob excellent service and wonderful food.
Still nice but not quite as nice as it normally was..will be back though
Lovely breakfast, really enjoyed the vegetarian option, great service from Hubert and Anna.
Service was very slow and most staff members didn’t look like they wanted to be there, that’s when you could see them as there wasn’t staff always around when you needed them. The food we had was very bland. Starters very expensive. Not much atmosphere in there at all and the decor is totally out of character to the beautiful swan hotel. Much improvement needed
We had a lovely evening celebrating a birthday. The food and service was great.
Ran out of roast beef that’s what we came to have on Sunday. Food was cold. Had chicken roast dinner instead was very dry and felt like it had been left out all day. I had heard great things but I was quite disappointed. Lovely decoration but poor food quality. We came into to have beef roast on a Sunday and to be told it had ran out was very disappointing.
Lovely lunch ! Great food and service in a lovely setting !! We spoke to Sam after our meal and he showed a genuine interest in what we thought of the restaurant ! A real asset to your restaurant . We will be returning soon .
food was great. service was a little slow but staff were polite and helpful
The place looks great, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the cocktails were lovely. The food was a bit of a let down though, the salt and pepper squid was mediocre, and the pork belly was overcooked making the base rock solid, and the meat chewy and bland. Make to food better and this place would be perfect.
Staff were very accommodating and polite. Very enjoyable experience.
Very disappointed in the food. We had lamb shoulder, but it was served like a shepherds pie! Pulled lamb under a layer of mash. Very dry, very plain and very boring. Even the crushed peas weren't nice with hard shells. It's a shame, as we've been there for afternoon tea a while ago, and that was very nice.
The staff were fabulous, so friendly and efficient, I needed two more seats and without fuss they brought through another table to join my birthday dinner. We were a party of 9 ladies and the staff remained patient and friendly with us, even when we became a little tipsy. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and I was proud to hold my dinner there. People commented that they would return and bring their partners and most importantly they complemented the food. Thank you
Great service and food as usual.
The menu was very limited and probably better for breakfast and lunch as opposed to dinner. The food was actually pretty tasteless. My husband had a rump steak and it was really fatty which at £24.50 is a rip off! Definitely would not go back unfortunately.
Good service excellent meal would not hesitate to book again
We had a lovely meal with friends at Pen and Cobb. We all enjoyed our food and the waitresses/waiters were very attentive.
Very welcoming staff
Everything is 100% will be back very soon
A fantastic girlie evening. Great food and atmosphere. Beautiful evening for drinks and cocktails outside. Value for money, and fab service. Would recommend
