About The River Restaurant - The Lowry Hotel
It’s all going on at the 2 AA Rosette River Bar and Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel, where breakfast, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch and dinner is served.
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel is one of Manchester’s best places to eat and drink in a glass-walled, riverside setting overlooking Santiago Calatrava’s Trinity Bridge where views of Manchester from daylight sparkle to an evening glow.
The convivial atmosphere is also deeply luxurious with purple leather chairs, semi-circular banquettes, while Fornasetti plates, mirrors and lithographs and prints decorate walls, The River Restaurant also has an exclusive private dining room for up to 24 people which is licenced for weddings and civil ceremonies.
The à la carte menu has been devised around the best local and seasonal produce. An additional three-course menu changes each month following the seasonal bounty and is just £24.95 for three courses at dinner except Saturday Evening, while the popular Sunday lunch menu is £22.50 per person for three courses and is always accompanied by live music.
We have a wide range of options for our award-winning Afternoon Tea our traditional afternoon tea is available for £22.50 or upgrade and choose from our G & T, Champagne or Bellini afternoon tea for £33.00.
The adjoining River Bar and Terrace encapsulates The Lowry Hotel’s fun-loving spirit at the confluence of city life. Here you’ll find in the intimate, informal surroundings a quiet place to network, drink and kick-back with a perfectly mixed cocktail, club sandwich, salad, or more substantial dish from our menu. The cosy Library is tucked away at one end. Open until late, this is a place to enjoy our signature cocktails.
Here you will also find Manchester’s longest bar terrace — an open-air first-floor terrace for al fresco dining where you can enjoy a drink or meal from the bar or restaurant. Open year-round, The Terrace is perfect for summer afternoon get-togethers in this urban suntrap overlooking the River Irwell.
On Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons you will also be entertained with live pianist and singer Kimm
No atmosphere as only one person dining Overpriced for midweek Crab beautiful Steak a little tough Perfect service Been coming for ten years fortnightly but can’t afford to do this now as often due to no offers. Really sad Tina Heeps
Excellent breakfast as usual! Staff accommodating and food lovely 😊
A wonderful experience , the food and service were amazing , an excellent choice for a real treat Thank you
Although we really enjoyed having lunch with you The mushroom soup was really delicious as was the beef Sunday lunch it was a little cold for our taste and we would probably not return
Lovely evening, with perfect service and very good food. great ambience, nice and quiet but with lovely song in the background from a live performer in the bar. Molly was an absolute gem of a waitress, and food delivered on it's promise from online reviews. will definitely be back again.
Excellent service with smiles, food was superb as always, i will be back soon thanks so much x
Awesome afternoon tea plenty of variety & gorgeous tastes. Very attentive service & brought fresh pots of tea when needed. Love the new decor & layout of the restaurant. We will be back. Thank you
Overall very enjoyable and would definitely go again.
Great food. Lovely attentive staff. Would recommend to anyone.
We loved it here. We meet up from different parts of the North West and thought we’d give the Lowry a try. The service (from Duwayne) was fabulous. The food was really nice and better that your average afternoon tea.As it was busy the service was leisurely which suited us as we got chance to chat and drink top ups were forthcoming. Overall a very good experience.
Really special service which added to a really special night. Food was worth the price and attention to detail was phenomenal. Dining in Manchester at the likes of Rosso this experience went above and beyond without being too vocal about it or bragging about what famous people have been in.
Really really nice 👍
Sadly my husband and I did not enjoy our afternoon tea experience. We will not be returning to the Lowry. We had come as a wedding present from friends. I provided in depth feedback to your guest experience manager on leaving as we were that disappointed. Not what I had expected at all.
Had an afternoon tea with prosecco, as birthday treat for friend - first time there, but it won't be the last! Wonderful staff, discreet attention, relaxed friendly vibe. Afternoon teas always have too many cakes (we would prefer less but more savouries?) but they were a delicate size and delicious. Sandwich/ wrap fillings very tasty.Thank you!
Excellent... as always! Newly refurbished restaurant and bar, but same excellent food and service. Excellent value. Loved the live music. Staff are always attentive, without being overbearing... Dwayne and Anu are simply charming! We highly recommend!
Delicious soup and wonderful pistachio souffle. We shared the beef wellington which was good but not as outstanding as soup and dessert. However all the food was excellent quality and restaurant service was superb and staff friendly and helpful. Also reception staff very welcoming, friendly and professional. Housekeeping knocked and opened our room door at 9am which is why I have given 4 not 5 stars for service. Lovely hotel and lovely location. Would stay again.
Superb hotel, fantastic service and lovely friendly staff. Thank you very much for a beautiful afternoon tea
Spent a lovely, sunny, autumn afternoon at the newly refurbished Riverside Restaurant. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the food was delicious! I requested a vegetarian alternative and this was no trouble. I came in the summer and it was nice to see that the menu changes.
The sandwiches and cakes were delicious, however I think there should be more savoury and less sweet!!
We have been regular visitors to this restaurant but this was our first visit since its refurbishment. We were very disappointed by the lowering of standards and this is no longer a high end restaurant. We shall not be returning
Food was really good. Service was too slow even though most of the restaurant was empty. Took ages for food to come for each course. Had to ask for our complementary glasses of champagne we were supposed to have on arrival at the end of the meal. Shame as the food was great.
Clinton our server was fabulous looked after us 110%,.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Lowry Hotel. All staff were courteous, professional and attentive. There was a good balance of savoury and sweet items on the afternoon tea, although we probably could have managed a couple more of the savoury ones. The River Restaurant was a lovely setting to enjoy the experience.
Absolutely fantastic! First class from start to finish. The food and drink are exceptional and the only thing better than that were the wonderful people serving us that evening. Marie, Shuheb and Fatih were three of the nicest, most professional and amazing people we've ever had the pleasure of being looked after by. Having been in the food and beverage industry for over 20 years, I really like to look out for people with that something special and here at The River Restaurant at The Lowry they have some of the finest people in Manchester working for them. All of them a credit and asset to the restaurant. Thank you everybody from the chefs, waiting staff and bar team, you did a job above and beyond. We can't wait to return!!!
