About The River Restaurant - The Lowry Hotel
It’s all going on at the 2 AA Rosette River Bar and Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel, where breakfast, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch and dinner is served.
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel is one of Manchester’s best places to eat and drink in a glass-walled, riverside setting overlooking Santiago Calatrava’s Trinity Bridge where views of Manchester from daylight sparkle to an evening glow.
The convivial atmosphere is also deeply luxurious with purple leather chairs, semi-circular banquettes, while Fornasetti plates, mirrors and lithographs and prints decorate walls, The River Restaurant also has an exclusive private dining room for up to 24 people which is licenced for weddings and civil ceremonies.
The à la carte menu has been devised around the best local and seasonal produce, while the popular Sunday lunch menu is £22.50 per person for three courses and is always accompanied by live music.
We have a wide range of options for our award-winning Afternoon Tea our traditional afternoon tea is available for £22.50 or upgrade and choose from our G & T, Champagne or Bellini afternoon tea for £33.00.
The adjoining River Bar and Terrace encapsulates The Lowry Hotel’s fun-loving spirit at the confluence of city life. Here you’ll find in the intimate, informal surroundings a quiet place to network, drink and kick-back with a perfectly mixed cocktail, club sandwich, salad, or more substantial dish from our menu. The cosy Library is tucked away at one end. Open until late, this is a place to enjoy our signature cocktails.
Here you will also find Manchester’s longest bar terrace — an open-air first-floor terrace for al fresco dining where you can enjoy a drink or meal from the bar or restaurant. Open year-round, The Terrace is perfect for summer afternoon get-togethers in this urban suntrap overlooking the River Irwell.
On Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons you will also be entertained with live entertainment.
We have been to the River restaurant a few times now and it never disappoints. Lovely atmosphere, great service and more importantly fabulous food. Would highly recommend.
Excellent food and service
great food at a bargain price, highly recommend the set menu. efficient and friendly staff as well
Stunning three course meal! We loved it. The wine was also gorgeous. Will certainly return.
Excellent quality and presentation of all food ordered
Staff were so helpful and friendly throughout our visit and the food was incredible
We ordered a ‘home box’. The welcome at the hotel when I went to pick it up was lovely and the pick up was quick. It came really well labelled and packaged with a thank you card with my name on. Instructions were easy to follow. Food plated up beautifully (thanks to the instructions) and it was delicious. Portion sizes were perfect. We really loved it. Thanks very much.
I can't praise the resturant enough for reqlly going above and beyond to make my 7 year olds daughters birthday special. The food and drink was lovely but the staff really made our visit memorable. Every single one of them was so friendly, positive and attentive, taking the time to talk to my daughter about her birthday and really make her feel special. Then they surprised us both with Happy Birthday written on a plate in chocolate sauce, some posh chocolates and strawberrys. She was really made up, thank you
We really enjoyed our dinner and breakfast during our stay however we were not happy with BOTH front of house ladies on each occasion. We found them unwelcoming and they both spoke to us with a bit of an attitude in their voices. We were so happy to arrive and be shown to our tables but unfortunately we ended up talking about each female because they had annoyed us and spoilt our little treat. But, other than that we had a lovely time and the breakfast was just amazing!
The staff were great- very attentive. The food was really really good and there was plenty to eat. Would highly recommend
Lovely food and drinks brought to our table by the very helpful waiter. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our 3 courses and were made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. We felt very safe as their was sufficient distancing between tables and the staff were wearing their masks. We will certainly be looking to return.
Fantastic food and staff. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back .
Excellent service by the very helpful staff who were masked and very observant of social distancing so we felt completely safe and relaxed. The afternoon tea was a birthday gift so a nice treat.
Our visit to the Lowry was very well organised and safe in this current pandemic. The staff were very informative and helpful on the requirements at the hotel. The restaurant staff were superb and very attentive throughout our meal. The food was exceptional good quality and to a high standard, a great experience and we will return in the near future.
Felt very safe with covid adjustments. Food delicious and bar lovely for a drink. Service was a little slow to start with as we had to ask for menus after our inital pre dinner drink. Atmosphere as quiet but when music was played half way through the meal that did help. New decor is gorgeous.
The service was excellent, very helpful and accommodating of any request we made
Delicious food as always. Friendly waiters. All round a lovely evening.
Lovely relaxing afternoon tea, service was excellent and social distancing and cleanliness. Would recommend.
Amazing food, only think I would say is possibly adding a vegan starter to the Sunday lunch menu
Refurb looks good but both bar dinung area lacking and slightly soulless as no singer due to covid restrictions. Staff work hard and are helpful. Starters Goat cheese terrine I would have left mine but hubby swapped with me for his Prawn starter which was better. Sunday roast was tepid except for carrot which was piping hot? Pork was v.tasty and hubbys beef was good sandwich slices. £105 for 3 courses and wine .
It was very nice. Personally I did not rate the wine but that is personal taste. The food and service was excellent.
I had an awful experience , I couldn't find my voucher code and was made to feel like I had lied about purchasing it. I had already called and spoken to someone and given my voucher details. It took 40 minutes and people were looking at us in the restaurant. It was for my done birthday which was ruined. I have rung and left messages and emailed with no response. This whole experience has caused me stress
An all great experience , total value for money and really friendly and helpful staff. Won’t be the last time we visit The Lowry. Thank you.
The afternoon tea was amazing . The cakes were so light and delicious and there were plenty of sandwiches. Also the staff were so attentive and polite. They made our experience feel special. Would definitely recommend it.
