About The River Restaurant - The Lowry Hotel
It’s all going on at the 2 AA Rosette River Bar and Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel, where breakfast, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch and dinner is served.
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel is one of Manchester’s best places to eat and drink in a glass-walled, riverside setting overlooking Santiago Calatrava’s Trinity Bridge where views of Manchester from daylight sparkle to an evening glow.
The convivial atmosphere is also deeply luxurious with purple leather chairs, semi-circular banquettes, while Fornasetti plates, mirrors and lithographs and prints decorate walls, The River Restaurant also has an exclusive private dining room for up to 24 people which is licenced for weddings and civil ceremonies.
The à la carte menu has been devised around the best local and seasonal produce. An additional three-course menu changes each month following the seasonal bounty and is just £24.95 for three courses at dinner except Saturday Evening, while the popular Sunday lunch menu is £22.50 per person for three courses and is always accompanied by live music.
We have a wide range of options for our award-winning Afternoon Tea our traditional afternoon tea is available for £22.50 or upgrade and choose from our G & T, Champagne or Bellini afternoon tea for £33.00.
The adjoining River Bar and Terrace encapsulates The Lowry Hotel’s fun-loving spirit at the confluence of city life. Here you’ll find in the intimate, informal surroundings a quiet place to network, drink and kick-back with a perfectly mixed cocktail, club sandwich, salad, or more substantial dish from our menu. The cosy Library is tucked away at one end. Open until late, this is a place to enjoy our signature cocktails.
Here you will also find Manchester’s longest bar terrace — an open-air first-floor terrace for al fresco dining where you can enjoy a drink or meal from the bar or restaurant. Open year-round, The Terrace is perfect for summer afternoon get-togethers in this urban suntrap overlooking the River Irwell.
On Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons you will also be entertained with live pianist and singer Kimm
Delicious afternoon tea in a lovely setting, very friendly staff, perfect thank you.
Fab meal! Really good food. As we were large party, we had a server stay with us for drinks etc for the whole meal. Great offer for a Christmas lunch at £25 for 3 courses. Would definitely recommend.
The staff could have engaged a bit more I felt, maybe asked what brought us there today or something a bit like that to make us feel a bit interacted with, There was also about 4 different waiting staff that looked after us through the afternoon tea. While they were all nice, I wouldn’t have called it 4 star service- just a bit average really Then they forgot the Tea in the afternoon tea - we were going to say it but to be honest no one came back to check on us so we just left The bread on sandwiches felt a little hard - not sure if they were made overnight The restaurant wasn’t open on time either - we had to wait until approx 12:10 to get in So we ordered a drink in the bar first The waiter was very slow ... he might have been new but he took the order verbally, then walked away to write it down in a docket book, then another waitress came out and he spent more time telling her about it, then got the order wrong I asked for vodka soda water and lime & Gin and slimline tonic, got a normal tonic, and he forgot the lime , then had to wait for someone to go and find the lime cordial after he asked me was lemon ok? We waited almost 15 mins for the drinks in the bar Also in the lead up to trying to organise the afternoon tea - I was trying constantly to call but it just rang and rang out all the time - why isn’t there anyone to answer the phone, or a message service or something but to just ring constantly and then get cut off is not 4 star experience When I did get an answer I was put on hold to the restaurant to only get cut off - that happened twice Called back again - specifically said “there’s something wrong with the phone - don’t put me through to the restaurant” - she didn’t listen and put me through! Called again - lady took my number and said someone from restaurant would call me back- never happened Then I emailed and think that took 3 days to get a response?
Excellent food & service with a smile see you again very soon 😁
Food was all lovely for the festive afternoon tea, good selection and a good amount of food per person. The food and drinks came in a timely manner but we did wait a little while to order more drinks.
Amazing service & excellent quality food.
Booked for a vegan afternoon tea for my partners birthday. The service was excellent and we really appreciated the mocktail in place of the complimentary mulled wine (we don’t drink alcohol). Unfortunately we were given cows milk instead of soya which was soon rectified once I pointed it out. One of the sandwiches contained cheese which was most unfortunate as I did point out several times we were having a vegan option. We chose not to point this out as we didn’t want to appear awkward. Overall we throughly enjoyed our dining experience but would perhaps suggest a better understanding of vegan options if you are going to offer it.
The afternoon tea was very disappointing. Staff and service was very good.
Excellent food again. Have had the Beef Wellington before and the Beef tasting did not disappoint this time
The staff were really lovely but they seemed to be a bit rushed. There was a customer who was quite loud complaining about the service so she made the atmosphere a little stressful. The food was fabulous.
Excellent afternoon tea with champagne, the mulled wine especially was delicious.
Great value for money. The staff were reallly good and friendly. Would recommend.
great staff. very welcoming and attentive. the food was delicious.
It was early and quiet, but the service was attentive but not in your face
Service in the bar area was terrible waited 10minutes for someone to take our order. Then got seated in the restaurant in a booth where the seat was broken! Not a good experience at all.
The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the live singer was a nice touch. The service was brilliant. I had afternoon tea and both the sandwiches and cakes were delicious!
Struggled to get served in the bar to have a pre- dinner drink. Virtually ignored. The chefs choice 3 Course menu had very little choice. The mozzarella cannelloni was a small cold spring roll filled with cheese and a few cold figs which was poor. The lamb main was just ok but the cauliflower cheese was the size of a 10pence coin! The dessert of doughnuts were 2 tiny rocks? Overall the worst meal I have had in a restaurant that I can remember.
Little bit disappointed that everything on the menu wasn’t available to us
Lovely meal and fantastic service thank you
Lovely food and great service from start to finish, the team are a credit to the Lowry Hotel.
there was a problem with the booking on arrival but it was sorted quickly. The service was slow both in the bar and restaurant.
The service was brilliant. Food was wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal.
Great service & lovely food
Excellent staff and lovely food in beautiful surroundings! Consistently good
