Having not been here before I booked for myself and my husbands wedding anniversary. The decor was very nice and obvious it had recently been updated. However The restaurant area itself just seemed to be missing atmosphere, the large room made it noisy like an eating hall so didn't feel appropriate for the occasion. The staff were lovely and helpful although got a couple of things wrong, I asked for sparkling water no lemon and they brought still water with lemon slices , when I asked for another without ( allergy) she seemed confused and said why didn't I have a jug of still water at the table instead. The meal; the Barnsley chop which I would expect had potatoes/mashed potatoes with it came on its own, it was only later we found out that the cheese covered vegetables and chips given were to be shared between very different meals which shouldn't have had the same sides. The steak my husband asked for medium rare was very rare and lasagne overcooked but the fish very nice, so in all food ok but because of this the prices felt expensive and we didn't go for a dessert course. It felt confused about its identity, on the one hand you are taken to a table with waiter service but other parts of the experience are more pub like.

It was our first visit lots of choice on the menu including the children’s menu. Lovely place and value for money but service was a bit slow. We sat for quite a while and had to get someone over to clear plates and get dessert menus even though it was fairly quiet. Would go again though.

email didn't seem to get through to the restaurant so what was the point of the pre order. ordered drinks on arrival took a long time to arrive at table. Not sure why we were in the middle of the room and it was hard for waiters to walk past table to service other tables. Took a £50 pre paid deposit that didn't come of the bill until reminded them I had paid earlier.

Lovely staff. We were greeted straight away, drinks orders were taken once sat down and food orders once we'd all had a look through the menu, Fab food and lovely waiters.

Wasn't told bar under going rennovation prior to booking large party for my birthday. Somewhat disappointing that main bar area was not open and dining room curtained off. Back bar open as alternative but venue was untypically scruffy-looking as a result of the works. Wpuld have appreciated fore warning. However service and food very good as always. Will return, but when renovation complete.

We celebrated my sons 21st birthday at Risley Park on Sunday 19th January. We were a party of 8 and each had a different meal. Every meal was served piping hot and tasted amazing!! The complimentary top ups of chips and vegetables is a fantastic touch and makes such a difference. The service was impeccable, friendly and personal and made us feel very welcome. Every one of us left with a full tummy and wouldn’t hesitate to return. 10 out of 10 across the board - I highly recommend Risley Park! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Risley park was amazing from start to finish. Me and my girlfriend were met by friendly staff who took us to our table, took our orders promptly and get us our drinks. We had a laugh with the restaurant manager, and ordered our food. The food was outstanding, and great value for money, one of the best places around. Would definitely come back here again in due course as we were very happy with what service and food we received. Keep it up!!

This email has been sent twice and as yet I have had no response... I did hope to keep this private ....however this is the email I sent: For the Attention of the manager Good afternoon, I have visited your restaurant / pub many times over the years and have always been really complementary and commented to your staff saying how good the food and service is. I work in the funeral industry and regularly recommend you as a perfect place to hold a wake, so, when in August I arranged for all my family to gather for a pre-Christmas meal I had no hesitation in booking the Risley Park. I booked the meal for 1.00 pm last Saturday 14th December, and my family were traveling long distances. We all arrived for 1.00 pm and were told that the table was being made ready. We waited 15 minutes in the bar area before I enquired as to whether the table was ready. We went through to find the table was set for 10 but only had nine chairs.. no matter …… after waiting 20 minutes, the waiter (I believe his name is Paul) appeared at the till. By that time the children had noticed that every other table had santa hats except ours…(I thought there would be crackers as in previous years). I asked and he said it was because all the other tables had been laid for the evening and ours was a lunchtime booking (we did then notice that all the other tables were obviously booked as they were relatively large parties as well and they had hats.. it don’t bother me but it did the children)). To be fair he did give me 4 hats for the children before disappearing for another 20 minutes. Eventually he came to take our orders and then we waited….and waited…and waited… It was only when I went to ask where they were that they finally arrived. It was well after 2pm and they were not good…… I love your nachos and recommended them to everyone they were cold, limp and the cheese was welded to the plate … The squid was cold. The soup was also only luke warm. The main course actually arrived at 20 to 3 !!!….. after I had chased the waiter yet again to find out where they were. The roast dinners were all stone cold and the gravy stuck to the plate. Even the roast potatoes were cold…. The veg was cold (although it had been delivered to the wrong table and taken back into the kitchen before they brought it back out to us. We did ask for more veg and chips and that did arrive hot. We had no time for desserts or coffee and we had to be elsewhere for 3pm (as it was we were already late) so we bolted down our dinner and I asked for the bill. I did complain discreetly but he said they were short staffed and he would give me a discount… It was not what I wanted I wanted a lovely dinner out with my family… by that time I just wanted to get out asap as we had been there over two hours. Then I realised I had the wrong bill. I took it back and he just said Oh…. and gave me the correct one. I just paid as quickly as possible and left as I was so distressed but didn’t want to cause a scene. When I got home I realised he hadn’t taken off the £50 deposit I had paid….And the discount he discussed was £6.30.. Less than £1 for each dinner that was cold…. This is an insult… especially as we had been charged for an adult soup when we asked and was brought a childs portion. The Bill would have been a lot more if we had ordered desserts and coffees etc.... Throughout the meal we had to fetch our own drinks from the bar as no one was there to ask. I rang the next morning when my family had left to go home (the lady that answered was very nice and understanding but said I would need to go into the pub for the refund.. and she said the manager would be in on Monday and that I could have a word with you when I came in. I came in on Monday just before 5pm to get my £50 refund and to speak to the manger but was told he had gone home at lunchtime.. that he would be back in on Wednesday.(Possibly my fault I had a wasted journey as I didn’t ask what hours you were working but it might have been mentioned to me). The waiter from Saturday was working behind the bar and he refunded my £50 but said I would have to speak to you if I wanted to complain any further… Throughout all this, I have been pleasant and understanding that you were short staffed but his manner on Monday was not conciliatory and was quite abrupt. When I commented that I was going to the Plough at Normanton on Boxing Day, he said “that’s got nothing to do with us”… What an obnoxious thing to say… I was just making conversation and I had said several times that I knew it wasn’t his fault personally ….you were short staffed … however it had wrecked my once a year very important family do. I did say I would be back… now I’m not so sure. You will find I have commented on your website in the past saying how good the food and service is... this has been extremely disappointing. I'm not someone who makes a fuss just to get discount etc but I this time I feel hurt and upset that what was supposed to be a lovely day turned into a stressful (we had two small children) occasion.

We were a party size of over 20 ppl yet we were dealt with in an excellent manner. The service was with constant smiles by all and the food was delivered in a timely fashion and piping hot. Everything possible was done by the staff to make our party have an enjoyable time. Thank you, we will be back (in smaller groups you will be glad to hear )

Their were several things that I was disappointed with: The deposit hadn’t been added to our table We were overcharged for 2x drinks and 2x dinners we didn’t have which meant the bill was wrong by £140 - the lady who served us was very helpful and adjusted the bill 3 times for us. Without me double checking, we would’ve been massively overcharged. The food was great and each course came out together and promptly. The only let down was the service.
