At The Rib Smokehouse and Grill restaurant us all about the experience; the atmosphere, smells and food in a modern but industrial dining space. Enjoy intensely flavoured southern influenced cooking, treated with our exclusive House Rub and cooked low and slow on our timber smoked Redneck ovens.
Open to both hotel guests and non-residents, The Rib Smokehouse and Grill is ideal for a relaxed meal with friends, family gathering or celebration dinner. For diners aged 12 years or under, a special children’s menu is also available.
We thought we were booking the same Rib Room experience but on the terrace - but it was not. It was a QR ordering system which was not that easy to navigate (for example need to tick plain if you do not want any additions to your lager rather than tick if you do want any!!!) There was no attempt to make the terrace pretty at all so there was no ambience at all. It is a different menu to the Rib Room so more like snacks etc... Very dissapointed. Come on Celtic Manor - take stock of your brand and live up to it!
My wife ordered the sirloin steak, it was not tender she also did not want fries but wanted an alternative but was only offered a side salad, maybe rice or a jacket potato should be an option. I had the Beef ribs, also not tender, they should be almost falling off the bone, as I have eaten them in the USA many times and this is how they are served. The fries were poor, tasting as if they were frozen fries straight from a supermarket, or worse McDonald. The desert, I had the parfait, that, after a very long wait to be served, turned up almost liquid, my wife did, however, enjoy the cheese cake. The best part of the evening was the waiter, who, under obvious stress, did a wonderful job.
The seafood jambalaya needs to go back to the old one it was nicer than the new one even though I did enjoy the one I had. Lovely meal as always will be returning again very soon
Sophie our waitress was lovely, all the staff were helpful and the food was amazing. The measures in place for Covid made me feel safe and I will happily go back there again soon.
We were staying as part of a voucher our children purchased for us as a Christmas Present. The voucher included a two course meal at the Rib Smokehouse. Our use of the voucher had been delayed by the COVID19 pandemic and the expiry date had been extended on a few occasions due to the Hotel Complex being closed. When we attended that dining room we were advised that the offers had been changed to £20 off each meal instead. This we found extremely disconcerting especially as each time we contact the hotel to extend the voucher we were advised that the two course meal would remain. After speaking with a member of the managementand expressing our concerns, as did another two couples who also had the same vouchers we were allowed the two course meal. We ordered our meals I had the Pork ribs and my wife a sirloin steak (rare) when my wifes steak arrived it was cooked rare, but the meat could not be cut through it was that tough. The waiter arranged for a fresh steak and when that arrived it was perfect the only issue being that i had almost completed my meal before my wife commenced on her's. At the conclusion of the meal, we received the bill for our drinks and i immediately noticed we were being over charged for the beers I had. The beers were listed on the drinks menu provided to the table at a lower cost than that on the tills. This was pointed out to the waiter and he spoke with management and a new bill with the correct amounts was presented to us and duly paid. After this we retired to the bar to continue the evening, when we tried to order another pint of beer it was again being overcharged. On this occasion another member of the management team came across and there were some heated exchanges concering the fact that the price on the App was correct, however my wife again pointed out the advertised price on the menu, which was agin lower than that on the App. As a gesture of 'good will' a very reluctant manager gave us a complimentary drink. Following this my wife and I decided to leave the bar and go to our room for the remainder of the night. Please note I am not criticising the waiters in any way shape or form, their conduct was excellent throughout. However, I was personally left feeling as though I was being 'robbed' by the management. If your going to supply menus' to assist customers in making a choice you should ensure they are eaxctly the same as the App being used for ordering. I would point out the prices I refer to were also exactly the same as those quoted on your website. Should the senior management wish to discuss ths matter further please contact me via email

Great service in the Covid climate we live in at present. Staff friendly and welcoming and always making sure all is good.Great value for money with outstanding and spotless rooms, A big 10 out 10 from me.

The experience of The Rib is amazing. A Very helpful and kind man greeted us, very professional and informative. Made us feel at ease and explained about the eat out offer. We then were greeted by a lovely girl Sophie who was nothing but helpful, polite. What an asset to your team. Would recommend the restaurant to anyone. We felt that all safety measure where impeccably organised and very clean. Very friendly staff.
Golf courses were great, rooms were great . Breakfast was great . But evening dinner the whole experience was awful . Dinner booked for 2115 for 4 people. Orders taken promptly ... our starter wasn’t served until 2225 !!! We were informed that Kitchin run out of mushrooms , but nobody told us . So our order was just waiting ... when our mains arrived , the beef burger was dry as cardboard , I had steak and that was good . We were offered free desserts but for us it was now too late to eat as we had booked early breakfast . I and for get to mention the pre drinks order done on the app , came late had to chase up the bar staff and was done incorrectly , fortunately the restaurant manager got it changed to the correct order . Yes it was busy weekend and seems like not enough staff were on duty to cope with the demand . Our table. Hostess was very apologetic .
Service was slow in restaurant waited 55 minutes to be served breakfast. Also system to order was aweful not everyone has access to smart phones and even if they do are not up to date in technology. Also for evening meal everyone was bunched in one half of restaurant while the other half was not in use. Does not make sense really. However food was of a good standard
We had x2 breakfasts, and had no complaints at all, lovely. However, we had an evening meal on the Friday. My husband had the salmon, which was beautiful, and I chose the sirloin steak, med rare. Unfortunately, the meat was chewy, with grissel running through it. A couple of mouthfuls I had to spit out as it was too chewy. I did complain to my waiter and my husband asked him to inform the chef, but we did not have any feedback. The steak cost £22, so it wasn’t cheap. It made the whole experience very disappointing.

My friend and I enjoyed our experience greatly and we felt safe in the environment provided - there were plenty of hand sanitising stations with good distancing between tables and the staff wore face masks while serving us. Food was delicious and they were very considerate to my dietry requirements.
Ordering food via Mycheck was a little difficult as it kept throwing us back to the home page. Extremely happy with the waiting staff who were all wearing masks and keeping a social distance while being very helpful. Food and wine was a little expensive but as it was a first meal out since lockdown we both enjoyed it.
Brilliant afternoon tea
One of the best afternoon teas we have had, thoroughly enjoyed it especially as it was my Mother’s Day present and I’ve had to wait until now to use it.

Went on a deal that was bought for Xmas present included 2 course meal. Was told it was £20pp limit not 2 course Which was originally purchased spoke to assistant manager eventually sorted but another couple then also complaint of same, also husband was drinking cwtch one price on menu extra 30p per pint charged on bill !, also had to speak to manager, steak unable to cut replaced and was lovely husbands pork ribs lovely but was half way through his meal before replacement steak brought back to table. As this was first meal out since lock down as husband in the shield section not very happy!
We visited recently, taking into consideration all the changes due to COVID, it was a strange experience to say the least. Had to witness at least two tables arguing with the staff over ‘a voucher’ they believed they had to be told they didn’t. Orders drinks twice that did not arrive. Had to use an app to order as staff weren’t able to take our order at the table which I found absurd! The food was ‘ok’, breakfast was bland, with a choice of full English or nothing! Could only have scrambled egg, no poached, boiled or fried.....I cannot see myself returning.

Couple of teething problems with the scan and order system when trying to order just drinks but nothing the staff couldn't sort out.
Service was amazing. The food was lovely and it was a pleasure to eat there.
