At The Rib Smokehouse and Grill restaurant us all about the experience; the atmosphere, smells and food in a modern but industrial dining space. Enjoy intensely flavoured southern influenced cooking, treated with our exclusive House Rub and cooked low and slow on our timber smoked Redneck ovens.
Open to both hotel guests and non-residents, The Rib Smokehouse and Grill is ideal for a relaxed meal with friends, family gathering or celebration dinner. For diners aged 12 years or under, a special children’s menu is also available.
My ribs tasted like boiled, in the pressure cooker, and so where the chicken wings, blunt, just the sauce had a taste. The waiters went above and beyond for us and the place looked very nice. But we were both very disappointed in the taste.

Service was very attentive and friendly, food almost perfect! Atmosphere was amazing for being outside in the pandemic restrictions, all round nice experience.
The manager was kind and helped us celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary despite still being in lockdown restrictions. Thank you.

Amazing welcome from everyone. Food and drinks were delicious and not a morsel left! Great time would highly recommend for any occasion. Looking forward to returning to sample the evening menus.
Food basic lacked flavour

Well where to start we agreed to sit by the golfers our choice ... our table wasn’t ready people still on it! They were fine to start with but after an hour got very vocal and the language was disgusting for our 6 year old she spent the night covering her ears as she suffers autism and cannot stand really loud noises... Josh was our waiter very polite and attentive to start with so we ordered our drinks that didn’t turn up nor did josh? Only on walking past to another table 30 mins later he said have you had your drinks ? No we said... our daughter was starving and the wait for 1 hour ten mins for fishmongers burger and ribs really let your team down ? We never saw josh again after he brought the drinks and a young girl brought our food who wasn’t our waiter for the night like josh had said he was ? You had two very pissed ladies one in a red dress and one in jeans and white top that kept looking over at my husband and shouting things ... they shouldn’t of been servers as the girl in the dress fell three times while we were there then smashed into the wall going up stairs by the bar area .... Josh came back at one point even though we hadn’t said a word to say he would sort the bill because of the mistake with the kitchen ? At one point no staff were outside and tables had there hands in the air waiting to order pudding and drinks etc ? This was a real let down your end as nobody got proper table service it was a joke to say the least we weren’t even asked if we wanted another drink and my husband went inside to get our knives and folks ? All staff were together discussing whatever at the till side of the bar ? Total pathetic excuse of a team on that night nobody took control... we even walked out passed the staff and nobody said a word and we came back to the room? This is harvester/ mc ds service not Celtic manor ? If this hotel is using there brand then you need to work like they do in the main hotel at all times . Joke ! Swearing disgusting and not one person addressed that table of 13 I ask you why is this the type of clients your taking ? I’m not very happy and await your full response Louise Jones 4129
Even during the lockdown at was perfect, food was perfect as always service and atmosphere was great. Lastly a great idea to give kids fish food to fed the fish during courses
I'm afraid I didn't catch his name but the young guy who served us on Thursday evening (May 6) was absolutely brilliant. He is a total credit to you - look after him!
Josh the waiter was amazing
It was a quite limited menu. Atmosphere would have been a 5 if it wasn’t for the bad weather and since it’s still outdoor dining we were battered with strong winds. Seafood jambalaya was also lacking with some ingredients like squid and salmon, which was explained to us beforehand, but it wasn’t as good as when we ordered it the last time. I ordered rump steak but wasn’t available and had sirloin instead, and asked for it to be medium rare but it was more like medium-well. Service would have been a 5 but they came slightly late and we were all hungry. We had a nice sticky toffee pudding for room service and it was really good! Good value for money!
We absolutely love coming here, for the value for money and the quality of food and service you get you can’t fault it! A small issue with the main that was very quickly sorted and was no problem at all, it was all delicious and our server, Josh, was wonderful, he is an absolute asset to the staff at The Rib and so professional and very friendly. Impressed with the way the marquee was set up. Service was very slow which just let the whole thing down.
Fab outdoor space plenty of room between tables felt completely safe will definitely be returning.
Would have been nice to know before bill was brought about service charge. Next time we will have removed! Also NO CASH!!! 😡
Servers were lovely, but everything was very slow. Burger was very dry and overcooked (burnt on the edges) bread was stale and portions very small. Luckily my partner ordered an extra side of chips for his meal. Atmosphere was lovely.
Shame it was outside dining only due to Covid, it was a bit cold outside even in the awning. Josh was a good waiter. Food was good.
The menu is nothing more than mediocre compared to chain restaurants- disappointed as online is TOTALLY different to the menu given’ Service was shockingly poor compared to other restaurants in the Celtic Manor chain- I have eaten there many times but this was embarrassing!! Never again!!
We ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners from this restaurant. Food order was wrong on every occasion. Repeated mistakes and it seems they do not have enough staff to cope with even a small number of guests. Wait times are also too long.
Great venue for lunch but a little pricey
Due to covid and having to eat outside the dining experience wasnt great - it was freezing and did spoil the night . I asked for a patio heater but they didn’t have any . The heaters in place were not over our table and thus we had no benefit from them . Unless you can ensure comfortable outside dining for all ie . Suitably warm , then I do Not feel this venue should be open .
