We're rightly proud of the reputation that the Rib Room has as one of the finest dining venues in the North East. At the AA award-winning Rib Room Steakhouse and Grill steaks are the house speciality, where we serve the finest Durham beef, matured for up to 32 days, to produce a succulent and tender steak.
And don't just take our word for it- you can take a peak in our unique meat locker and see the quality of the product for yourself.
The style of the dining room goes towards creating the perfect atmosphere with round tables with banquette seating available.
And to wash your delicious dinner down choose from our extensive wine list offering more than 50 hand-picked wines.
Great food and great service we will be back
Beautiful ambiance and outstanding food.
Pig skin popcorn (scallop dish) was both unattractive and inedible. Red wine recommendation to accompany Surf &Turf was excellent.
The food is absolutely unbelievable. Also, I literally look forward to the bread They serve guests upon arrival, most of all. It is THE most delicious bread I have ever had in my life. And you can have more than one serving which is just lovely.
Lovely steak. One of the best I've eaten.
We always love our visits to The Rib Room but last nights steak was as tender and succulent than ever. It was a thrill to visit for our first meal since lockdown began and of course it was a bonus to get the August discount too. Plenty of hand sanitiser. Details taken for track and trace. Temperature taken at entrance. Staff were meticulous as they took orders and served and all wore mass. We were very aware of the continuous adherence to covid rules however the atmosphere was quite exciting. So well done Jean, Michael, Chef and all of the staff.
Our party of 3 booked for afternoon tea, which was served in the Cornish Suite, a really lovely place for it. We were a little apprehensive because of Covid-19 but we need not have worried. Staff and guests were all observing the rules. The high tea was really lovely and we were all given a flat-pack box to take home what we could not eat. That was brilliant because there was so much left over. It was a belated celebration for my sisters 80th birthday and she enjoyed a super time as my wife and I also did.
Food was overall good, steak was exquisite though fries and onion rings were average at best. One waiter in particular was very rude and condescending which, unfortunately, ruined our visit.
Lovely food!! Expensive but great for a treat. Could have used QR code on the table for the menu rather than being given a menu straight away during Covid.
Excellent food and service. We had a lovely evening and would certainly return.
My partner & I had an extremely enjoyable Sunday lunch with you, it was the best Sunday roast I have had eating out. Serving varied types of potatoes & vegetables was something we particularly enjoyed. Excellent value for money, we will definitely be back.
Great service and amazing food. The Chateaubriand was amazing! My only niggle, it was a very warm day and the restaursnt appeared to have no air conditioning so it became quite uncomfortable.
staff are always a delight, we come here every other month for a steak and wouldn’t change it for the world
We had Sunday lunch .We were seated in a corner which was ok but would have preferred a better position . My wife’s prawn cocktail starter was served with a lot of sauce which disguised the taste of the prawns ,I didn’t have starter . My wife had pork and I had lamb. There was a large bowl of vegetables ,which ,apart from the long stemmed broccoli were very good .The broccoli stems being too undercooked .The meat was served with small Yorkshire puddings ,mashed and roast potatoes and a boat of very nice gravy .My lamb was served pink and apart from being slightly chewy was tasty. The pork was good and both meats were generous portions. My chocolate brownie was served with ice cream and was again a generous portion .Personally I would have preferred it to be warmed but otherwise no complaints. Our 250 mil glasses of wine were £6-50 . Overall we enjoyed our lunch but felt it a little overpriced although we realise that the Rib room is pricier than most hotel dining .
Excellent value and very cosey and friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic Place, Really Good Atmosphere. The food is incredible.
Fantastic food, service was exceptional, a great experience from start to finish.
Lovely food and lovely staff
Great ambiance but a bit high price. After I left I still felt hungry.
The food and the service were both absolutely first class. The chateaubriand in particular was exceptional and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We will be back again.
Lovely food and friendly staff even in this weird COVID time nothing was too much trouble. So polite and friendly
Fabulous food & great service!
Bit pricey but lovely food
Would of expected some chips with the steak or they should at least tell you that you have to add chips on separate we ended up having an expensive steak on its own in the middle of the plate otherwise the food and the starter were absolutely amazing
