About The Rhos Fynach
The Rhos Fynach, now a beautifully restored pub and restaurant with a wonderful function room for weddings and special occasions, was originally a 12th century monastery with secret tunnels linking it to the nearby tiny, 6th century, Chapel of St Trillo. This was the home to the monks who fished the weir off Rhos Point to provide the catch for the larger monastery in Conwy at the time. The oldest building in the area, built in 1181 AD, Rhos Fynach (literally meaning 'Monk's Marsh') offers haven, nourishment AND history for the weary traveller or the holidaying family!
The Rhos Fynach recently joined the Oriel Country Hotel & Spa (Denbighshire’s only 4 star hotel) and The Bridge Restaurant in St Asaph group of companies; the intention is to maintain Rhos Fynach’s old world charm whilst offering quality, fresh, delicious food for the pub, restaurant and function room.
Traditional ales and Tuesdays 9pm quiz night with a roaring fire are still one of the many fine features available making this a favourite place to rest a while. There is plenty of parking in both the onsite car park and the 2 council car parks.
Lovely meal, good beers & ciders and lovely staff
I was extremely disappointed after eating here for a number of years this was honestly the worst visit. Table for 5 booked for 1:30 how ever didn’t get meals till 2:45 kids where starving however it seemed walk ins took priority. Food wasn’t anywhere near as good as we have previously experienced only 2 choices of Beef or Pork for Sunday dinner. Bottle of Prosecco came half empty when I asked what had happened was told it fizzed over but they didn’t think a lot had come out even though could clearly see how much was missing, daughters food came burnt had to send back just not what we have come to expect as my parents are here at weekend & I was booking for dinner again I’ve had to re-think
Good location, large beer garden, always visit when in Rhos.
Excellent food, warm and friendly service
The food was fantastic , the young man who waited on was great very attentive ,but the service on the bar when we arrived was below par .. not the bar staffs problem , just not enough staff to deal with demand .
Sunday lunch was excellent
Overall service was very good. The food was outstanding- to an excellent standard in our opinion. Drink presentation not so good, otherwise this would have received a 5 star. Overall 6 of us enjoyed our evening very much. We didn't give 5 star rating for all as there were a few hiccups. We have been to nicer venues where 'all' have been better.
The waitress was particularly pleasant and welcoming. I'm sorry I don't know her name but she was lovely !!!
Excellent and attentive service. Standard and familiar British pub food, cooked and presented to a high quality.
Very friendly staff most accommodating to our needs as we had two disabled relatives with us. Beautiful place to dine, we would highly recommend. Thank you
Fantastic meal for my mother's 90th. Didn't hear a single grumble from any guest which must mean it was good.
Starters was lovely, main course was nice, burger presentation bit basic, and fries although cooked would be better with a bit more colour. Would go again 👍
Initial service was a bit slow. There wasn't much of an atmosphere, but it was nice.
Great place for food - book online to ensure a place tho :)
We had a lovely time! Great food, fantastic service and a warm and cosy atmosphere! We'll be back soon!
Lovely meal in a lovely setting. Dogs welcome.
I appreciate that we visited on Boxing Day and there was probably less staff than normal, but we waited 20 minutes to be given a menu. The service was very slow and it took us two hours and fifteen minutes to have two courses. All our food was lukewarm and not hot. We have eaten here many times before. Had this been our first visit, we would not come back.
We were a large party of adults and children. We had a lovely table in the corner which was nice and private but right next to a fire exit that was being used by smokers, so we were getting a smoky draft whilst trying to enjoy the meal. The staff were very attentive. The food was really nice, most if us ate from the festive menu and had the braised lamb dinner which was perfect. Only negative was the piri piri chicken was so hot is was barely edible. Having said that it was cooked well and was plentiful. Negative now, the toilets! Absolutely disgusting. There is a terrible smell, clearly a drainage problem and needs more attention generally. This really let's you down. Would I eat here again? Yes I would, would I recommend it? Yes, but be prepared for the toilets!
Excellent food and service
Meal was very nice and good value. Definitely go again
Staff very friendly but food uninspiring.
I have now visited Rhos Fynach three times and have come away each time feeling that I've had a lovely meal, service and drinks.
Very nice traditional pub in a great location.
Pity that the website menu for the vegetarian in our party was different to the menu at the table. Also dessert menu was different in some of the table books. Need to improve your changes controls.
As always, most enjoyable luncheon with my sister - good food @ very fair price & served by delightful young ladies with big smiles on their faces. Nothing was any trouble. Been dining here for many, many years & will continue to do so. My family & friends always insist I book Rhos Fynach.
