About The Rhos Fynach
The Rhos Fynach, now a beautifully restored pub and restaurant with a wonderful function room for weddings and special occasions, was originally a 12th century monastery with secret tunnels linking it to the nearby tiny, 6th century, Chapel of St Trillo. This was the home to the monks who fished the weir off Rhos Point to provide the catch for the larger monastery in Conwy at the time. The oldest building in the area, built in 1181 AD, Rhos Fynach (literally meaning 'Monk's Marsh') offers haven, nourishment AND history for the weary traveller or the holidaying family!
The Rhos Fynach recently joined the Oriel Country Hotel & Spa (Denbighshire’s only 4 star hotel) and The Bridge Restaurant in St Asaph group of companies; the intention is to maintain Rhos Fynach’s old world charm whilst offering quality, fresh, delicious food for the pub, restaurant and function room.
Traditional ales and Tuesdays 9pm quiz night with a roaring fire are still one of the many fine features available making this a favourite place to rest a while. There is plenty of parking in both the onsite car park and the 2 council car parks.
Food was fantastic, adult portions very generous; children's portions not very.
My first time visiting Colwyn bay and booked here. We ordered food which took ages to arrive. We Then got our starters and main courses Served together. My partner got fish goujons which arrived with fries and looked like it was a kids dinner. No sweet chilli sauce with it. I got prawn cocktail which was small frozen prawns with buttered cheap brown bread. My indian curry was very watery and didn’t even try it. My partner got piri piri chicken and had to ask for coleslaw which should have been included. Complained and prawn cocktail & curry was taken off Bill along with 1 free drink. No manager came and spoke to us. Very disappointed and will never return.
I received the wrong mushroom dish starter, other than that everything was fine
Overall the staff were exceptionally friendly, took hygiene seriously and were consistently polite to staff. The bar area contained clear information regarding the one way system in place, the staff offered gentle reminders to customers as necessary. Our server maintained social distance as much as is possible in the role and was attentive. Visits were worn by all servers. Food was hot and thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic food & fantastic service! Such a warm & inviting pub. Will definitely go back & highly recommend!
My husband and I have been here a couple of times before and haven't had a bad meal in all fairness. He had the curry of the day which was Chicken Jalfrezi and I had Lasange with garlic ciabatta and chips instead of salad. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent and well priced. Will definitely go there again.
A great atmosphere. Lovely food and attentive staff Will definitely be back
My wife and I arrived at your restaurant, with in a few moments shown to our table, then not long after a young lady asked if she could get us a drink while we looked at the menu, when our food arrived it was hot, very tasty, the young lady was very attentive, nothing was to much trouble, always with a smile, definitely returning soon,
Fantastic service - staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was delicious.
Really good food, helpful staff - we had a great time! Thank you
Food lovely and we didn’t have to wait very long
Staff are always friendly and polite. A lovely Sunday lunch.
Great food and service. Friendly and attentive staff. Will be back !
We, as family and friends, dine regularly at the Rhos Fynach. I can only repeat what I have stated in the past - everything is always 100%.
Always a pleasure to dine at Rhos Fynach. My family and friends look forward to dining here whenever they visit.
Food good and plentiful Good choice and good service Friendly staff
Lovely meal, good beers & ciders and lovely staff
I was extremely disappointed after eating here for a number of years this was honestly the worst visit. Table for 5 booked for 1:30 how ever didn’t get meals till 2:45 kids where starving however it seemed walk ins took priority. Food wasn’t anywhere near as good as we have previously experienced only 2 choices of Beef or Pork for Sunday dinner. Bottle of Prosecco came half empty when I asked what had happened was told it fizzed over but they didn’t think a lot had come out even though could clearly see how much was missing, daughters food came burnt had to send back just not what we have come to expect as my parents are here at weekend & I was booking for dinner again I’ve had to re-think
Good location, large beer garden, always visit when in Rhos.
Excellent food, warm and friendly service
The food was fantastic , the young man who waited on was great very attentive ,but the service on the bar when we arrived was below par .. not the bar staffs problem , just not enough staff to deal with demand .
Sunday lunch was excellent
