About The Rhos Fynach
The Rhos Fynach, now a beautifully restored pub and restaurant with a wonderful function room for weddings and special occasions, was originally a 12th century monastery with secret tunnels linking it to the nearby tiny, 6th century, Chapel of St Trillo. This was the home to the monks who fished the weir off Rhos Point to provide the catch for the larger monastery in Conwy at the time. The oldest building in the area, built in 1181 AD, Rhos Fynach (literally meaning 'Monk's Marsh') offers haven, nourishment AND history for the weary traveller or the holidaying family!
The Rhos Fynach recently joined the Oriel Country Hotel & Spa (Denbighshire’s only 4 star hotel) and The Bridge Restaurant in St Asaph group of companies; the intention is to maintain Rhos Fynach’s old world charm whilst offering quality, fresh, delicious food for the pub, restaurant and function room.
Traditional ales and Tuesdays 9pm quiz night with a roaring fire are still one of the many fine features available making this a favourite place to rest a while. There is plenty of parking in both the onsite car park and the 2 council car parks.
Very friendly staff most accommodating to our needs as we had two disabled relatives with us. Beautiful place to dine, we would highly recommend. Thank you
Fantastic meal for my mother's 90th. Didn't hear a single grumble from any guest which must mean it was good.
Starters was lovely, main course was nice, burger presentation bit basic, and fries although cooked would be better with a bit more colour. Would go again 👍
Initial service was a bit slow. There wasn't much of an atmosphere, but it was nice.
Great place for food - book online to ensure a place tho :)
We had a lovely time! Great food, fantastic service and a warm and cosy atmosphere! We'll be back soon!
Lovely meal in a lovely setting. Dogs welcome.
I appreciate that we visited on Boxing Day and there was probably less staff than normal, but we waited 20 minutes to be given a menu. The service was very slow and it took us two hours and fifteen minutes to have two courses. All our food was lukewarm and not hot. We have eaten here many times before. Had this been our first visit, we would not come back.
We were a large party of adults and children. We had a lovely table in the corner which was nice and private but right next to a fire exit that was being used by smokers, so we were getting a smoky draft whilst trying to enjoy the meal. The staff were very attentive. The food was really nice, most if us ate from the festive menu and had the braised lamb dinner which was perfect. Only negative was the piri piri chicken was so hot is was barely edible. Having said that it was cooked well and was plentiful. Negative now, the toilets! Absolutely disgusting. There is a terrible smell, clearly a drainage problem and needs more attention generally. This really let's you down. Would I eat here again? Yes I would, would I recommend it? Yes, but be prepared for the toilets!
Excellent food and service
Meal was very nice and good value. Definitely go again
Staff very friendly but food uninspiring.
I have now visited Rhos Fynach three times and have come away each time feeling that I've had a lovely meal, service and drinks.
Very nice traditional pub in a great location.
Pity that the website menu for the vegetarian in our party was different to the menu at the table. Also dessert menu was different in some of the table books. Need to improve your changes controls.
As always, most enjoyable luncheon with my sister - good food @ very fair price & served by delightful young ladies with big smiles on their faces. Nothing was any trouble. Been dining here for many, many years & will continue to do so. My family & friends always insist I book Rhos Fynach.
Lovely meal, thank you!
It was a loverly meal great friendly staff would recommend this place to all
Such a lovely pub and rhos on Sea is a lovely place
Lovely place. Food was very good quality and the service was exellent. Highly recommended!
Lovely little pub true gem in the area. Staff friendly and polite serving truly scrumptious food .
Just read my previous comments from myself, family and friemds.
The curry was quite good; the Naan not so good. The cheesecake was delicious; the stick toffee pudding was heavy and stodgy. The service from our two waitresses was charming, friendly and efficient and the overall pricing was about par for the course. The restaurant was cosy, pleasant and clean and there was sufficient room between the tables for us to have a conversation. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
Quick service, really friendly, attentive and efficient staff. A lovely pub- restaurant that I’ll definitely go back to
Had our 2 granddaughters with us and we all really enjoyed our meal. Our waitress was excellent and extremely good with the children. We will be back
