About The Rhos Fynach
The Rhos Fynach, now a beautifully restored pub and restaurant with a wonderful function room for weddings and special occasions, was originally a 12th century monastery with secret tunnels linking it to the nearby tiny, 6th century, Chapel of St Trillo. This was the home to the monks who fished the weir off Rhos Point to provide the catch for the larger monastery in Conwy at the time. The oldest building in the area, built in 1181 AD, Rhos Fynach (literally meaning 'Monk's Marsh') offers haven, nourishment AND history for the weary traveller or the holidaying family!
The Rhos Fynach recently joined the Oriel Country Hotel & Spa (Denbighshire’s only 4 star hotel) and The Bridge Restaurant in St Asaph group of companies; the intention is to maintain Rhos Fynach’s old world charm whilst offering quality, fresh, delicious food for the pub, restaurant and function room.
Traditional ales and Tuesdays 9pm quiz night with a roaring fire are still one of the many fine features available making this a favourite place to rest a while. There is plenty of parking in both the onsite car park and the 2 council car parks.
After experiencing the delicious Sunday lunches at Rhos Fynach we decided it was the perfect place to bring 12 of our French friends who were visiting Wales for the first time. They really enjoyed the traditional roast and the service we received was excellent. Thank you Rhos Fynach for making it a special day for us all.
As always, a joy to dine at Rhos Fytnach with family and friends - and that is their opinion as well.
Another lovely day at Rhos Fynach. My friend (she loves dining here on her visits, as do my family) and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal although, as usual, were unable to finish same - good value at a very reasonable price. Until next time - expecting family sometime during April - best wishes for your continued success.
My wife and I had another excellent meal at the Rhos Fynach. The Sunday lunch menu was really good and as usual the service was of the highest order. Our thanks to the staff for making our visit most enjoyable,
Fish and chips excellent but the lasagne was greasy and garlic bread hard.
Lovely meal with very friendly and attentive staff.
Service was excellent, friendly and considerate and the food tasty and well priced. Would look forward to another visit.
Lovely food for 2 for £12. Friendly and helpful waiter
It was early evening so wouldn't expect much atmosphere so early.
Excellent food and service, as always
We had another very enjoyable evening with really good food accompanied by excellent service. We look forward to returning to the Rhos Fynach again soon
There were 6 people, with same main course (vegetables) but none had pigs in blankets, they had run out of green beans so some never got them, one never got carrots. However, food was hot and good value for money. Service was slow and we were still waiting for deserts when quiz started so not great.
Great Christmas lunch, well served thank you
I was going to send you an e-mail, Justin. Everything was top class, as usual. What else do we expect from the Rhos Fynach. Perfection in everything. Lovely ambiance spent in the company of my family. Four different choices from menu. Each one perfect and thoroughly enjoyed (thank you chef and team). We wanted for nothing in attendance from the young man on duty and Lois (Superman's girlfriend as she told me), who were completely on the ball. Only one complaint, we can never, ever finish our meals. Such good value for quoted prices. See you on the 10th December when I am coming with my dearest friend who, along with her family, absolutely love dining at the Fynach whenever they come visiting. Betty Boo x
Enjoyable evening, good food
We had a lovely meal and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Thank you so much food and service was great we all had a lovely day
The mussels were fantastic! Would come back just for them - the waitress who served us was really nice and an asset to you, so welcoming and happy to help with a smile -
Nice meals, good variety and choice for all tastes. Lovely staff and well worth a visit.
Excellent service despite being busy with a wedding. My partner was happy with his steak however I found the pie and gravy both very bland. Good portion size and value though.
Disappointed with Sunday menu. Only roast available was pork. Potatoes fairly hard and felt microwaved. Sticky toffee pudding bitter in centre. My friend said worse he had tasted. One waiter told us to get own dessert cutlery although his colleague quickly got it. We were return customers and rated last visit very highly so very disappointed
Very nice evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. Thank you.
It's often a cliché but you have a little gem in the lovely lady Shannon who was far beyond efficient, she was personable and became our friend even before the food arrived. You simply knew that her sole purpose was to make our evening special and she achieved that spectacularly well! Your restaurant mods since last season are very well designed and create a cozy atmosphere and the mirror makes the dining area seem much larger than it is. Very well done Rhos Fynach!
Nice place to eat - beef was a bit tough - one of the male waiting staff was lacking in personality. On the whole ok for the money
