About The Restaurant at The Woodpecker
Contemporary, Informal City Style dining in the historic town of Lanark.
We think you’ll be delighted by our spectacular food and surprised by how much of it we are able to source from the surrounding area, allowing us to have an ever changing menu of seasonal produce at sensible prices.
Led by head chef Ian Kerr our team have cooked for a host of famous diners including Janet Jackson, Mick Jagger and Oasis and worked across the globe with the likes of Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White, yet you’ll find a warm, friendly and informal atmosphere with an emphasis on you having a great time enjoying fantastic food (and wine of course).
We look forward to welcoming you to The Restaurant at The Woodpecker.
Fantastic service, fabulous flavours from the most mouth watering menu. Just what we have come to expect time and time again. We have never been disappointed.
Amazing food and excellent service. I came here for my birthday back in March and again with my dad and husband for Father’s Day. The only complaint I have is the amount it costs for the scallops as a starter if there were a few more on the plate it would be fine but three tiny scallops isn’t worth it. I hadn’t had them before and they were delicious but definitely over priced
We arrived early for our booking and although our table wasn't ready we were invited to stay for.a drink in the downstairs bar. All staff were really helpful and very pleasant. We will definitely be back.
Service was excellent and food was delicious. Good for a special occasion but would be more inclined to go regularly if there was a option of a set menu. I would still highly recommend as it’s great to have somewhere of this quality locally.
Great food .. our waitress was top .. will be back
Beautiful presentation of delicious food and a very hard decision what to eat from an impressive menu. Service was delightful. Wish we lived nearer. Not busy for midweek lunch which was the only downside to the atmosphere. Looking forward to returning soon.
Beautiful meal and loved the ambiance there. Expertly cooked food served courteously by lovely staff. We will be back and have recommended the Woodpecker Restaurant
Another fabulous meal. The Quail followed by the Porterhouse Steak with all the trimmings was absolutely delicious. I can throughly recommend your food as I have been a few times and everything has always been a treat.
The second time we have eaten here. Lovely food and wine and pleasant staff. We shall certainly be returning.
Lovely meal and great service.
Top quality food,highly recommended.
Meal was exceptional and service up to usual high standard. Would thoroughly recommnd and intendd being backasap.
My meal was absolutely delicious enjoyed every mouthful, my only suggestion make the peanut butter cheesecake a bit bigger as I just wanted more it was so yummy
We thought the food and presentation was excellent, however for the prices being charged the portion sizes are too small and served without vegetables & to charge nearly £4 for 7 chips is just ridiculous, the staff were very friendly, however I felt they could have been more attentive in terms of ensuring we had enough drinks, a couple of times I had to go to the bar to ask for more drinks. The hand made chocolates at the end where gorgeous and a lovely touch, but for me I would rather not leave a restaurant still hungry. The desserts I have to say were amazing.
Loved the surroundings and meal was excellent, though think it would good to have a pre-theatre menu deal available.
The kids menu is very limited however it says any meal from main menu, smaller portion 50%off. Excellent we then ordered burger and chips for my daughter, asked for only cheese got everything else on it regardless then when bill came charged nearly £16 for burger - apparently cheese is extra and even though they new for child - we should have asked for small portion, and apparently burger and chips is to hard to make in smaller portion anyway!!!! Over priced and really poor service.
Fabulous restaurant. The food was really well done and everything cooked to perfection. Service was first class too
I preferred it when you had a lunch and market menu. I think there needs to be more choice After my last visit I wrote a glowing report on Trip Advisor. Not so impressed this time
Booked a meal for 4 for mother’s day 6:45pm we arrived at the restaurant to find it closed , we went into the bar downstairs to ask why it was closed ( apparently due to a fire) no one had informed us even though they had my email address and mobile No . Extremely disappointed especially with not being informed of the situation. I have given the lowest rating as I have to put a rating, however I can only comment on the service for not being informed.
Market menu starters of potted beef and chicken livers were excellent even although couldn't get a plain bit of bread rather than brioch. Mains of beef olives (lovely minced pork filling rather than sausage) were tasty but could have had a few more beetroot and apple pearls and parsnip purée. Soft drinks reasonably priced. A bit out of the ordinary in mid price range. Venue a bit difficult to find, satnav doesn't take you to restaurant car park which was mainly being used by non diners. Experience slightly marred by very vocal retired party at nearby table.
Just a little quiet for a Thursday (end of the month )but will definitely return 👍
Absolutely delicious food and fantastic service. It’s was my first visit, thanks to itison so it was superb value for money. I wish you had a three course lunch menu as everyone loves a deal and then you wouldn’t have to pay itison. I will definitely be back. Thank you.
No Hendricks gin available on a Saturday afternoon. Bottle of wine over priced. Lovely decor and comfortable restaurant. The food was beautifully presented but sparse. My main meal was not hot. Not enough food on the plate for our table of ladies and the prices charged were too high. Won’t be back.
The ambience of the place is nice, and could be a nice little restaurant, unfortunately the food is a let down. Ordered steak fillet medium and I could barely cut it with the knife. I took a bite but very chewy so had to send it back. No steak knife provided. No salt and pepper on the table. Had to ask twice for a bit of salt and was told sorry for the delay but they are very understaffed...which to be honest it's not my problem... Steak replaced with a wild Atlantic haddock in beer batter: tasteless and soggy. Only one decent looking chocolate dessert was already out of stock. Not impressed. Was expecting better food.
