lovely afternoon.we had a voucher as a wedding anniversary gift. beautiful cakes with some still warm from the kitchen. so many teas to choose from too. always love coming here the food is yummy. will be back for my birthday
very nice meal..excellent service
Superb Sunday lunch
The whole team were friendly and welcoming, the older guy in the restaurant clearly took real pride in his job. Loved the decor and the atmosphere was really warm. We were there for afternoon tea, the food was absolutely delicious, real attention to detail and I’d probably kill for the bakewell slice! If we were local we would definitely be back and will certainly be back if we’re up this way again.
Where do I start. On arrival we said we had a booking for lunch. Was being shown to the restaurant and asked if it was for afternoon tea we said lunch and then informed there was only sandwiches because there was no oven's. So we weren't impressed, surely someone could have telephoned to tell us there would be no cooked meals. We had been given a gift voucher for our anniversary so we will have to come back to use it. So next time we hope better service.
You were advised that one of the party had an allergy to citrus. Whilst the cakes were fine the mayonnaise in the sandwiches wasn't and on further investigation it was found to contain citric acid. The staff were very apologetic and alternative ham sandwiches were provided. However, this should have been handled more professionally prior to our visit because this could have resulted in serious consequences to my friend.
We enjoyed a lovely champagne breakfast for my husband's birthday, food was plentiful and presented nicely, staff friendly and professional, would definitely recommend.
I had a lovely evening at Horsley Losge with my friends- the meal was good and with reasonable portion size. Staff were friendly too.
Lovely meal. Not so sure on mushroom starter, too much crumb very small for £5+. Other than that gorgeous
A lovely evening with great food and fabulous place. The staff were very good and we were made to feel welcome. Thanks to Horsley Lodge. We will be returning soon.
Lovely place and food,Laura on reception was very friendly and helpful and the young man who waited on us was brilliant as well. Will definitely recommend the champagne breakfast
Gluten free disappointing . Only Icecream on dessert menu
It was our first time at the testurant ti celebrate my 70th birthday. Thought thr food and service was excellent all food hot and beautifully presented. We will be booking again in the near future. Also very pleasant atmosphere in the dining room staff very pleased and helpful.
didn't feel valued and as it was a special occasion I felt it wasn't the experience I thought it would be.
Positives: did was amazing, especially the lamb. Service is prompt and an excellent balance between formal and friendly. Improvement: Restaurant was a little cold (although we sat near the window)
Things went well at first as we were greeted and seated relatively quickly. There was a problem with our starter (bread and olives to share) which came minus any plates to eat off and the salted butter accompaniment which we had to ask for. Mains and sweet ok. A pity about the wobble with the starter because the food was excellent.
Wonderful service and food, lovely restaurant and atmosphere.
Had afternoon tea it was lovely the only comment I would make is if you like cake it’s amazing but personally I think less cake and more sandwiches.
Very nice afternoon tea with excellent service. Only criticism is for 4 of us having afternoon tea, could have done with a bigger table.
Very poor service after initial welcome/food brought out... 3 staff were chatting with each other at the bar with no apparent interest in the two occupied tables. After we had finished eating, we gave up after giving them 10 mins to notice and walked over to the bar to say we wanted to pay. Restaurant smelt of fish and chips which was off-putting when in for an afternoon cream tea.. the tea itself was ok. Nice location and restaurant decor, but definitely won't rush back/recommend to others for afternoon tea - shame as it could be so much better with some decent service.
Restaurant was cold as door was open and so was the windows. Also not many people in so restaurant quite empty.
Lovely sparkly stuff Good selection of cakes Scones yummy Sandwiches nice but would have preferred more sandwiches and slightly less cakes, just my taste! Excellent selection of teas available Lovely for a special event - our anniversary Staff friendly and attentive
All was fine until the afternoon tea was brought out. The main cakes were plenty and some of my party said were quite nice. The waitress got the coeliac and lactose free sandwiches the wrong way round, which would have made either person ill; the gluten free scones had no cream or jam with them; the lactose free cakes were a bunch of grapes, a piece of watermelon and a tiny selection of shop bought cakes, as the chef had forgotten about the lactose free cakes! The serving staff just seemed to disappear! We were not asked once if we wanted any more drinks, or a top up of hot water for the teas; we had 3 tea strainers between 6 of us when we'd all had different varieties of teas. This is all very disappointing as it was a Christmas present from me to my family members that came with me so we had waited a long time for this and we were really looking forward to it. It had been booked since early August so the chef and team had had plenty of time to organise something for the coeliac and lactose intolerant ones. Also, we were told the scones were being freshly baked but when they arrived they were cold so it would seem that they had just been taken out of the fridge and certainly not cooked fresh. The bar manager on the day did at least realise what had happened with the 2 special meals and offered me a discount for one meal. Unfortunately that's not the point, we had been looking forward to something that should have been special, we do this once a year if we're lucky, and we were badly let down.
Enjoyable experience good food and service
