The Red Lion and Sun is a privately owned public house. Our chefs serve freshly prepared and cooked meals every day from noon – 10pm. There has been a public house on this site since the 16th Century.
Excellent lunch as always
lovely meal and service..was sitting outside in back garden.only thing would have been nice to be able to take the umbrellas down as was a bit shady.other than that roast was amazing. will be coming again soon..thanks
Great atmosphere, every time.
Lovely friendly pub
Everyone loves The Red Lion & Sun, best restaurant in the area.
Anyways a pleasure eating here. Eaten numerous times here and the food is always exceptional. I regularly recommend this pub. Best food in Highgate village.
I found the Menu very restrictive as I don't eat any crustaceans. Hence my lower marking. I can only assume that the menu is fixed for a month & will check out in future before making another booking.
Hi Tom, if you do not like crustaceans I can see why you would be upset. 4 out of 8 starters have a form of crustaceans on them. It's just that a lot are in season so we're taking advantage of that. None of our main courses have crustaceans on them though, so it's disappointing when you only gave us 3 stars. Our menu is uploaded daily to our website so you can always check in advance before booking what we have on. Thanks for the feed back, All the best, Heath
Lovely food, friendly staff
Lovely evening. Great service. Staff lovely and went that that extra mile for my partners food intolerances and birthday. Great experience Thanks x
Always great food and wine
A lovely evening with my family. Thank you!
Great food, great atmosphere! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back.
Very pleasant atmosphere with excellent imaginative food
have dined here quite a few times, and have never had a bad meal!!, Lovley evenings
This was my first visit and everything matched up to my expectation which was derived from all the reviews I had read.Charming, well informed staff with an enthusiasm and confidence in what was being served. Pleasant ambience and tip top dishes.
Although been meaning to come for a long time this was my first visit for a delightful lunch with friends so hope to return again soon.
I booked a table to celebrate my birthday with 2 friends. The whole experience was excellent, from the reservation to the paying of the bill! We were warmly welcomed on arrival, the specific table I had requested was accommodated and the food and wine were delicious. The waitress who served us had a lovely manner and was very attentive. I and the 2 friends who came with me have decided to definitely make our visits there more regular! Thank you very much for such a lovely birthday celebration meal!
Consistently impressive food and service, and always a great atmosphere.
Best salmon nicoise I’ve had since I was in Cannes. Those anchovies are top quality. Sadly no beachfront view but the back garden is green and serene. I adore the passionfruit brûlée. It wasn’t on the menu but the waitress checked with the kitchen and they had enough to make us a small plate. Great food and great service.
The best roast dinner I have ever had. Mmmm And the best sticky toffee pudding in the world. Did that really happen? I pretended to be Gordon Ramsey whilst eating it and I think he would give it full marks. Very talented chefs. Brilliant choice on the menu and excellent wine selection. A good crowd in there. The best Sunday lunch ever. Worth every penny. Don't change a thing!
Always enjoy the ambience, food and service in this dog friendly local pub
It was disappointing to find the feather blade steaks are not on offer on Sundays. Had we known this we wouldn't have booked you for our son's birthday. Your food seems to be less good these days.. the fish batter was very greasy re our fish and chips, for example. Overall your food is pretty expensive and no longer feels worth the money.
Hi Abigail, I'm dispapointed to read you were not happy with the food. Since we focus on the roast dinners on Sundays we make room for them by taking off other meat dishes. Saying that all you would've had to do was ask and we wouldn've happliy had chef cook a featherblade steak for you. Kind regards, Heath
