Fantastic food and drink, great atmosphere.
Absolutely fantastic night, superb food and very friendly service. My friends loved it.
Lovely evening. Atmosphere, food and service were top alass
Food very average. Good service and nice atmosphere. Perhaps it just wasn’t a good night. Thank you anyway.
Again an excellent Sunday lunch...best for miles around. The Prophets Rock Pinto noir was fabulous !!
This was our first visit and we really liked it and would return. There was a good choice of food which was well prepared and presented and the service was good - attentive but not overly so.
Despite having worked in and around Highgate for many years I had yet to dine at the pub but when the opportunity to entertain guests from America arose I thought it appropriate to show them a good time at a typical pub serving apparently quality food. We dined on a Saturday lunchtime and the garden tables busy.We sat inside and it didn’t look as if many tables were taken so the kitchen was probably not overstretched. Our party of six only had a main course: fish n chips x3; lamb chops x1 and jerk chickenx2. Fish was pretty good but chips luke warm; three lamb chops were practically bite size and expensive and jerk chicken that was pretty dry. Frankly a very disappointing experience and somewhat embarrassing given how I had (mistakenly) told my guests how rated the food was. I should have tested the waters first! I have both clients and friends who have eaten here and we’re/would be surprised by my comments so maybe we were just unlucky?
Hi Gary, I'm very disapointed to read your feed back. I have sent you an email to the address you left when making the online booking. Please let me know if there is another email address that might work better. Kind regards, Heath [email protected]
Very good food with very lovely services. They get really busy so make sure to book a table before visiting them, unless you sit on the garden table which are first comes first table. Will sure to come back again for another lovely pub lunch on the weekend...
We sat in the rear garden and it was very pleasant. Service car was as good as usual. On this occasion the food was disappointing though. We both had the lamb chops as main course. The chops were very very fatty. Almost entirely just fat on bones and hardly and meat.
Delicious and varied menu, excellent service and perfect atmosphere
One of the best places for food in Highgate. Less of a pub and more of a restaurant which some people may/may not enjoy.
Gorgeous pub and great atmosphere. Just too loud and it was hard to hear the conversation. Menu a bit limited. Waitress just gorgeous and super patient and helpful. We had a lovely evening. Thank you
Wonderful pub and atmosphere set at an amazing location
A perfect lunch in every way!
Fantastic lunch with great wine!
Food took an extremely long time; probably an hour between starters and mains. Drinks were also very slow; think we waited over half an hour on one occasion, 20 mins on another. Food was nice, although for money it didn’t exactly shine. Appreciate it was a busy Friday night, but they were clearly over stretched and it showed.
Lovely lunch with family food was excellent... will definitely be back
all the food was good. The only problem we had with the meal was the price of the oysters. We all felt that £15 for 6 small oysters is excessive.
Delicious food and excellent service, As always.
Great food good service nice atmosphere
It's a great gastropub. On this occasion three of my party said that their fish dishes were a little dry but only mentioned this on the walk home. Mine was fine and the guy who ordered fish and chips described it as "marvellous".
Very good service staff were attentive but not intrusive. One of the best pub roasts in London
Our City colleague and long standing friend announced he had a new girlfriend from similar environment and asked if we were free to do something...as I can only rememember ever seeing his past amoureux through the wrong end of many a large wine glass, pretty though they were....we knew there could be trouble ahead....Most City workers have moved on from the 3hour lunch...but have replaced it with 10hour lunches at the weekend...so,back to our dinner...the first bottle disappeared as though down a sink without a plug..second was much the same, during which the food came...cue our friend waving an empty bottle to attract our waitress,as though he was in a nightclub on the Costa Brava..circa late 70’s..our new friend moaned slightly as she surrendered herself to succulent lamb cutlets and Greek salad ,whilst our old (sic) friend was on the brink of picking up his tureen ,now bereft of mussels,to drink the liquor ,but chose otherwise and ordered another bottle...and then another..before he bundled her into a waiting car to whisk them back to Wapping ,no doubt to carry on in similar fashion. Thanks to the chef ,and friendly staff..the enjoyable evening passed without any unnecessary drama.
Always a safe bet the Red Lion & Sun consistently delivers on food, wine, service and ambiance. We love it!
