About The Red Lion and Sun
The Red Lion and Sun is a privately owned public house. Our chefs serve freshly prepared and cooked meals every day from noon – 10pm. There has been a public house on this site since the 16th Century.
Our favourite pub!
We enjoyed our visit at the weekend and love the busy yet cosy atmosphere. The veggie roast was very savoury and tasty and the sides were also well made. Only complaint was that my Yorkshire pudding was cold. My husband and son devoured their roasts but my daughter didn't enjoy her fish goujons and chips. The fish seemed overdone and the chips not as fresh and hot as we like. The passion fruit creme brulee however was absolutely delicious with a perfectly crisp top and flavoursome, creamy interior.
Cosy, lovely, great wine list and high quality wines by the glass. Friendly helpful staff but they should ask what size wine glass people want, rather than automatically serving the larger size and if someone orders two starters, one hot, one cold (instead of a starter and a main) they should ask if they want them served one at a time or together. Yesterday my oysters came at the same time as my mussels, rather than the mussels coming next. But it was a great meal and I would definitely return. Thanks
Lovely atmosphere and great food.
Great! Thank you. We came back for our Christmas do after last year was so great.
We always enjoy our time at The Red Lion and Sun. We’ve been doing it for generations.
Lovely food, lovely location and dog friendly. Best tarte tatin we've had in a while!
Fantastic dinner with friends and our fur babies. Can’t wait to go back.
Best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. The vegetarian and vegan options are properly considered rather than being an after thought. The veggie roast is the best in london if not England
Very varied menu. Generous portions. Extremely well-cooked. Lovely old-pub-style atmosphere. 2 lovely tables for 6+ in the bays. Lovely warm heat from the log-fire(s). Parking relatively easy or choice of at least 4 buses.
Fantastic as always - great relaxed atmosphere & service and delicious food & wine!
Great food and friendly service
Another enjoyable evening at RL&S. Good food, atmosphere and service.
Best Nut roast in London!!!
As always, I had a great time with you at the Red Lion and Sun. To be honest, I've never had a bad experience with you. And, to add to that, the waitress that served us on Saturday afternoon was particulary charming and helpful. This weekend I brought and old friend of mine to your fine establishment and, as I hadn't seen her for a while, I wanted the afternoon to be special. It was. Thank you. Dave.
Very enjoyable evening all round. Good vegetarian options too.
My mother in law had ordered two different scoops of ice cream but only got one. She wasn’t bothered so we didn’t take it up.
Lovely food and atmosphere, will be going back.
Great night. Keep coming back
Fantastic in every way, as always!
Gorgeous food and great atmosphere.
The restaurant, service and food and wine were very good. Our table was a little cramped -too close to the neighbouring table- which meant getting in and out was difficult. We will return but probably for lunch or at a less busy time.
Food was delicious and service was great. The only downside was at times it got a little noisy from people on surrounding tables. We will definitely be back soon.
I love coming here for a veggie Sunday roast but was really disappointed last Sunday when they had run out of not only the nut roast but also another vegetarian option too (cottage pie). All that was left was a vegan curry and a veg burger. I had the burger which was pretty lacklustre and I couldn't even have chips since we were told they're cooked in the same oil as fish?! Is this the norm? It just felt like by Sunday evening the kitchen had pretty much given up after a busy lunch and dinner service. Also our waitress seemed really inflexible when I suggested the kitchen added salad leaves (side) to the halloumi starter to bulk it up to become a main course for my mum as she wasn't keen on the curry option. It's a real shame as I'm pretty sure if we'd eaten earlier in the day, we would have received the level of service and food quality I'm used to from The Red Lion & Sun.
Very well done, well organised, great food, attentive service without being cloying. The balance you’ve achieved is pretty much perfect.
