About The Red Lion
The Red Lion Public House & Dining Room
Pleasant, good service, large portions, not particularly crowded.
Disappointing Sunday Lunch. The air in the dining room was thick and unpleasant as if the extraction fan wasn't working in the kitchen. The roast lamb was cold and was sent back. Then the roast potatoes on the plate were cold! The risotto was tasty but portion small for the price. Not good value for money as mains are expensive. Desserts were limted because sold out. Service was friendly but staff were serving eating lollipops!
Excellent meal and lovely staff
The staff were really attentive and very friendly.
Delicious food, friendly staff, nice atmoshere. They also honoured a nearly expired half price meal voucher, which was good of them The only negative would be that the serivce was a bit slow, & my husband said that the pork crackling was too hard, & not as chewy as he would have liked. However, we will definitely be back!
Wonderful lunch with parents. Great service and great value for money.
Very very very disappointed. I booked a meal for three friends and when we turned up the pub was closed!
The food was fabulous as was the quality of wine. Menu is varied with a lot of appealing choices. Meal presentation was excellent with generous serving sizes and attractive accompaniments. When we asked for the bill we noticed our drinks were not on it, so we pointed this out. When we received our new bill it had increased by nearly £20 which surprised us as we had only had one glass of wine each, so we felt £9.90 per glass was a bit steep!
Wonderful food, great service and even tastier food! A great Boxing Day meal out!
We booked a table for Boxing Day lunch and arrived a few minutes early. We order our food and drinks within five minutes and asked particularly for the children’s food to come as soon as possible. 45 mins later we were still waiting. Even the bread we ordered to keep them going took 40 mins to arrive. By this time the children were tired and hungry. The entire time we were there we were the only people in the rest so being busy could not have been an excuse. Finally the kids Meals arrived follow shortly by the rest. We had waited nearly an hour by now. By this time the little ones were too tired to eat. My daughter had to have her meal packed up so she could take her son home to sleep. Afterwards she said her fish cakes smelled so bad on the way home she didn’t even bother to taste them. Our food was disappointing to say the least. Mushroom tagliatelle looked and tasted as if a carton of cream and a few mushrooms had been chucked in with very little else. And so on for the other plates. Overall an experience not to be repeated.
As ever great service from this lovely cosy village pub
Bit disappointed no Christmas crackers on table as it was a festive menu.
Lovely food, friendly staff, beautifully decorated surroundings.
An excellent meal with the sensible portions well cooked and presented all very tasty. Excellent service from friendly staff. Congratulations DPrice.
Lovely place, great food, we will definitely be visiting again soon.
We all enjoyed our Christmas meal.
A quiet lunch with friendly bar staff and better-than-average pub food
We arrived early and was shown to our table straight away. Whilst in the bar area ordering drinks we were reading the bar snacks menu which took our fancy. We were told when ordering there was no rose on the menu. We perused the menu at our table and still had our eye on what we had seen in the bar. We asked one waitress and she said it was fine to order these. When it came to ordering we ordered some of the bar snacks for starter we were told by the other waitress you couldn't order bar menu in the restaurant side. In the end we were able to but it wasn't a good start. There were quite a few dishes on the already small menu which weren't available The food was faultless and I'm glad we were allowed the bar snacks as these were so tasty. Were weren't offered any condiments which was the only issue with the mains. I think the menu could do with a couple of more choices or you could have a specials board. We had a £50 voucher which was given to us in two £25. When we came to pay we were told the till would only accept one which was disappointing. We will return to give it another go.
My 2nd visit and you didn’t disappoint, the food was amazing. I must try and come along when not driving to enjoy some of your wines!
Very tasty food
We will certainly come again, we are not local people but you are a delightful venue and conveniently placed for friends to meet up. We didn’t quite understand why it was stipulated that we needed to vacate our table by 2 pm on our booking confirmation. We certainly were not rushed in any way and it could deter first time visitors to your Restuarant from booking.
Staff were professional, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. The team were fantastic and The Barn with the garden proved to be the perfect private venue for us. Very happy.
Went on a week night and it was very quiet, however, service was very slow which was quite strange considering there was hardly anyone there. Food was also quite disappointing for the price and a couple of the puddings tasted stale. It’s a shame because we have previously had nice meals and good service.
Wonderful food, friendly atmosphere - a lovely evening out.
