About The Rectory Hotel
The Rectory Hotel's restaurant serves British food with a modern touch, simplicity which over delivers.
Always a pleasure to visit this lovely house -keep the fires burning - particularly in the drawing room , which is so nice to start and finish up with , before and after a meal .
Great food and ambience in glass house
Excellent setting, service and food. Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend.
The second time I have stayed at this hotel and I love it; it is also great that they have French speakers in the team! Best regards WR
My favourite place.
Excellent in every way
Fabulous afternoon tea. Highly recommend it for a treat. Thank you.
Fabulous afternoon tea. We had an amazing experience - so much so that we have already booked to come back. The food was immense. Even our non-fishy friends were catered for without any hassle. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon :-D
An Exceptional New Years Eve Meal ! all 6 courses were delicious, From Champagne and canapés to start, followed by Jerusalem artichokes with mozerella, Fillet of Beef and then the fantastic lemon sorbet with Prosecco. The whole meal and service was fantastic - We will definitely Return Again.
We arrived for a quiet Monday night dinner for four (albeit Monday the 30th of December) at 7.30 for a 7.45 table. We entered what can only be described as a scene somewhere between last orders on the first night of a red-brick university Freshers week and the local hunt ball. A harassed but nonetheless patient and polite Maitre D' explained that the Rectory had hosted a large lunch party which had 'stayed on' and had basically been drinking for seven hours and showed no sign of finishing anytime soon. Our parties Pre dinner Drinks in the bar were excellent - especially the Negroni's although the need to shout to converse above the other guests meant we rushed through to dinner as soon as we could. The meal was FABULOUS - no sign of any stress in the kitchen - although waiting staff were obviously run off their feet - they were unfailingly polite, attentive and good-humoured throughout the meal. Pre nibbles of Pigs in Blankets, followed by starters including Octopus , Eel and Scallops were all amazing - the Pork Belly and Octopus was fab. Mains of Venison (including a small faggot of the leg) were awesome, the Cod and Flat-Iron Chicken were also top class. Accompanied by great Red Portugese Douro - the meal was consistently good from first to last mouthful. Staff were Brilliant given the circumstances. We'll be back - but might just check if there are any lunch parties planned that day first :-) Thanks and Happy New Year
Brilliant ...could not fault it
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and look forward to returning inthe near future. The menu was a creative interpretation of Sunday lunch and we loved it.
Wonderful location, lovely food and brilliant service can’t wait to visit again
Best restaurant in the area. Food and atmosphere are amazing. Service is perfect. Recommended!
Slightly pricey for the hotel but a lovely comfortable stay all the same! Amazing food and cocktails!
All the staff were AMAZING. A faultless service and really great food. Thank you.
Visited twice recently. First occasion great; second time around the food was poor. Tasteless plaice full of bones and insipid sauce. Hopefully this was an isolated disappointment, as it’s bever been this bad in the past
We loved our stay! The food was delicious!
Another slice of beef would have been just right .... the service was friendly but a little slow .......the staff seemed very young ...
Relaxed friendly hotel with good service
Faultless experience. Food, service and price all excellent, I would highly recommend The Rectory.
Lovely lunch for my wife’s birthday . Food was excellent and service was very good. Very friendly
Enjoyed a delicious dinner and enjoyed & appreciated the atmosphere of The Rectory .
Really lovely afternoon tea
Very disorganised when we arrived. Left waiting between rooms. Weren’t offered champagne or cocktails even though we’d reserved the champagne tea. Had to ask for cocktail menu and they finally arrived only just before the tea. Didn’t have the first two common blends of tea my wife asked for. Had to settle for breakfast tea. No refills of tea or coffee offered even though we’d finished what was brought. Food was excellent. Our waitress was very helpful but lack of attentive staff. It was my wife’s birthday and I’d asked for something special such as a candle on a cake but nothing transpired. Overall rather disappointing.
