About The Räv
Modern European dining overlooking the historic St Salvator's Chapel. Local, seasonal produce and signature cocktails served in a skylit, loft-style restaurant in the heart of St Andrews.
Loved the food and wine. Venison carpaccio was delicious and the way the Dover sole was done was absolutely spot on with the gorgeous potatoes and fresh beans and peas. Dessert was lovely too a fab chocolate orange mousse. Will definitely be back :))
Staff were very friendly. Restaurant is decorated really well. Fried chicken starter was nice, but the menu doesn’t state that it is actually a burger/sandwich! Too heavy for a starter, should be a main course, or should be a starter without the bread. Either way, menu is misleading about this item. Meatballs & mash main course were delicious.
Had a wonderful meal and some great cocktails its a great restaurant and would definitely recommend. The only thing that could be improved it was a little difficult to cut the beef in the bowl it was served in. All in all will definitely be back again!
Our party of six enjoyed the evening
Great experience. Lovely staff and meal. Many thanks!
Pretty little restaurant, small but cosy with nice decor! Great food and friendly service! And best cheeseboard ever!!!
Absolutely delicious food. We had visited before, but changed to the menu recently have only improved the offering. Loved the Cullen skink, the Swedish meatballs and the cranachan. Delightful staff too!
Wonderfully smiling staff bring delicious food from a small and well-planned menu (from a surprise salmon mousse amuse bouche all washed down by well-priced cocktails (a perfect Negroni amongst them) and a good & varied wine list to a stupendous. I loved the place!
Limited menu and 2 dishes not available on the day (scallops, correct cut of beef)
Food was terrible. The asparagus was overpriced and uneventful, quite frankly unenjoyable and too chewy. Whilst the prawn starter was lovely, the barley main was terrible. It had no taste and was completely overpriced for what it was. The beef was well cooked for the other main, although again it was expensive for a small piece of meat, a few chips and no vegetables. Overall it was a really disappointing evening out and we felt completely fleeced for what we paid compared to what we got. Definitely not worth the £80 bill.
The food was excellent we will definitely return
Staff friendly and helpful. Food very tasty but some portions rather small.
We had a lovely evening. We were originally sitting downstairs by the bar. That wasn’t great, as there was a lot of toing and froing. However, Filip moved us without any fuss when we asked. Next time I book, I’ll request an upstairs table. Will be back to try your new menu, but everything on we had on Friday was excellent.
All very good. Tarragon butter though was VERY solid. Perhaps serve at room temp next time. Be good to get facility to pay tips on card which I know is coming.
Definitely will be back. Thanks for a great evening.
Lovely plates and reasonably priced. The service was very attentive without being too intrusive. Good drinks list and cocktails were delicious. Would recommend the cod and venison large plates. Definitely worth a visit (and if the menu is going to change seasonally), or two.
good atmosphere, great staff, good value
The atmosphere was great inside and the service was great too. The only comment I would make is that the venison was overcooked but my partner ordered the lamb and that was cooked to perfection so I would believe that the venison was just an accident. I’d give the restaurant another chance as the small bites and starters were good.
Enjoyed the food very much. We did share dishes, and this worked well, even with two of our party having some dietary restrictions. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but perhaps a bit overwhelmed by the number of diners, making service rather slow at times. Liked the new decor.
Fantastic service from the staff and a high quality dining experience, will most certainly be back again.
what makes The RAV so special is the food, service and venue This was our first visit and will not be our last. We love this style of food having visited the Nordic region a number of times in recent years. The food was well presented and up to expectation the meatballs were succulent, the mash perfect the sauce excellent and the lingonberry sauce topping it off. Special mention must be made of the young man who served us, he was attentive but not intrusive making sure we had all we needed taking special of our our young grandson. well done to you all and thank you for such a nice time.
Great atmosphere and the food was outstanding.
Excellent food in a well designed restaurant. Great value.
Food tasty and well presented, different interesting dishes (few items on menu unavailable ) friendly attentive service, lovely surroundings .
