Really disappointed with our visit this time. Wrong order on 2 dishes, undercooked children’s meal. We visit regularly and for the first time was really disappointed
We go here all the time. It never fails to please. Such a quirky place and there is always a good atmosphere.
Really enjoyed our evening,it was pleasant and private with nice background music.food was very nice and staff were very pleasant and helpful. service was very good
Fantastic food and fantastic service will definitely be back and would highly recommend
Arrived on time to be told very rudely by the waitress that she has a problem seating us as there is only 4 staff on and a table of 24 which apparently she knew nothing about. I wouldn't of minded waiting a while but she was just so rude and didn't give a care in the world. We sat and ate food was lovely but few things were forgotten like kids side dishes, gravy with the roast and cutlery then afterwards the bill was wrong and the same women told us well the menu is wrong at the moment so you have to pay what's on the receipt!! Tried charging us for each individual item when we all had 2 meals for set price. Place would be amazing if it was for the rudeness of that women she certainly shouldn't be on front of house!
One if the best afternoon teas we have had.The food was fresh plenty of tea and glass of mulled wine was a change from Prosecco.Would definetely go back
Lovely tea Good service Pleasant atmosphere
Waited over half an hour for our starter even though our meal was pre-ordered and we only got that because I mentioned it to a passing waitress, meat was very fatty, very disappointed especially being Mother’s Day.
Again we had a fabulous day for mothers day we had 3 mums in our group they were all welcomed with a glass of prosecco the food was to die for and the staff looked after us so well We are now planning for easter
There were 22 of us for a family meal celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. We were there at 6pm for 6.30pm and the last of our party arrived spot on 630pm. We hadn't ordered starters and considering we had all preordered our food the first course wasn't out as quick as we thought it should have been and between that and the dessert course we had time to do a full family photo shoot and then still had to chase the arrival of the desserts. However the food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals. We were seated in the 'private' dining area called The Pine Suite which is located adjacent to the main dining area.. It was fine for our celebration but wasn't quite what I had expected for private dining..
What can I say but amazing everything about it was amazing, the food, the atmosphere, the service and definitely value for money. Will definitely be going back. Thank you very much for the wonderful experience.
Booked an afternoon tea for my friend's birthday. The dining room was quite full so there was a pleasant atmosphere. The soup and sandwiches were nice. The scone was delicious but there wasn't enough jam or clotted cream for 2. The cakes were a bit samey and somewhat disappointing. More variety needed, maybe some individual macaroons or petit fours type titbits . Also the afternoon tea would benefit from another savoury item - maybe an individual mini quiche or similar.
We feel so privileged to have such a classy outlet on our door step, what the heart of England conference offers us a little short of fantastic the restaurant offers top class food and great service and has the ambience to go with it
Good food & service was spot on, will definitely visit again 👍🏻
Service is unacceptable
Sandwiches and cakes good . Scones nice and crunchie on..outside and light and fluffy inside Did not receive a glass of wine as stated in offer.
Our visits have always been enjoyable. It's reassuring to know that when you book you haven't got to be wondering how it will be, will there be problems, will it be worth it etc.You know that it will be a good experience.
Just a minor comment, 2 of our party requested our American pancakes with just maple syrup not any Ice cream or fruit but both came with the ice cream and fruit- shame to waste the food.
We enjoyed the whole experience and will come again in the future
we had afternoon tea the food was lovely , didnt like the mueeld wine thou, service was exerlant, thankyou
Website depicts a different expectation to what we found. No real ambience unless you are into 'steam punk'. The "Pine" room felt like you were eating in a village hall. The 'chalet', which we were originally offered, felt more like a large shed We were also told 48 hours earlier that we were only major party that evening. In reality there was two other larger parties present putting too much strain on a small resourced kitchen. Parties of size do not book last minute due to organisational requirement, so clearly they withheld information that may have given us choice as to whether to continue with booking when we came to pre-review. As the larger parties had their food presented 1st and all together this meant our party had to wait over 45 minutes between courses! Food arrived both cold (where it was waiting for other dishes to be cooked) or badly cooked. The steaks being notable by not being cooked to people's liking (despite my email instructing the staff to request preference and any accompanying sauces). If the steak is too rare you do not deep fry then re-burn it. This resulted in very very tough steaks. No complaints about the starters or dessert other than some portions were miniscule compared to other similar ones. Staff, especially Oscar, were sympathetic and rectified things without quibble. Sorry but for monies paid, even after discretion discounts, the whole thing proved poor value for money.
Steak is brilliant every time I've had it
Disappointed really-booked Winter afternoon tea and was not given Mulled wine(or Pimms)-and offered no alternative. No mince pies either. Both were advertised as part of this offer. This tea was booked for us by our daughter. It’s a shame we didn’t get what she paid for.
Very good food, we all had steaks for main and they were excellent. Pleasant staff who couldn’t do enough.
We had a lovely afternoon. Good food and service. Thank you!
