About Glenlo Abbey Hotel
The Pullman Restaurant is Galway's most unique dining experience. Diners take a step back in time aboard the Orient Express, which comprises of 2 original carriages from the Orient Express, beautifully restored without losing any of their original character and set on the grounds of the hotel
Enjoy views of a coiffeured golf course, Lough Corrib and Connemara hills in the distance.Having recently been awarded the prestigious second AA rosette, the Pullman Restaurant is certainly a dining experience like no other.
We had an extremely relaxing weekend, amazing food, attentive staff, wonderful atmosphere, can't wait to return
Everything was exceptional
Wonderful , will return
Wonderful service and food in a magical luxurious setting. Truly relaxing experience on Mother's Day.
I love this hotel but unfortunately the afternoon tea was not up to standard of other hotels. The food let it down badly. Service made up for the food. Great staff with great knowledge of what they are serving. I will be back, but not for afternoon tea unfortunately.
This hotel & staff are Ireland's best kept secret. What an unique place with its own Railway Station and a rail dining experience of a lifetime? With the snow outside it was like a scene from Dr. Zhivago. Julien, the French Restaurant Manager adds to the atmosphere with his knowledge of wine and the history of the train carriages. The hotel itself is a great place to relax and enjoy among attentive staff and wonderful guests.
Hi! Thanks so much for having us this weekend. This is the review I’ve just posted to Tripadvisor. I booked an overnight stay with dinner on The Pullman for my husbands birthday. The weather was horrendous with the beast from the East cancelling flights and closing businesses but as we had very little snow we decided to chance it. It was so so worth it. The Glenlo Abbey Hotel was so warm and cosy when we got there, turf fires burning and a warm welcome at reception. I explained our treacherous journey and the fact that my hubby had a significant birthday to celebrate and we were immediately upgraded free of charge to a Grand Suite. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had prebooked our dinner on the Pullman for 6.30 and due to the inclement weather there were only four couples dining that evening but they the staff were happy to go ahead anyway. The seaweed bread was delicious as were both our meals, crab, pork, pigeon, venison and then complimentary Bubbles and dessert for us both. The whole atmosphere and service on The Pullman and in the main hotel and the cellar bar were perfect. The wines were pricey but absolutely delicious, glad we spent the extra! I can only imagine how magical this place would be a for spring or summer wedding, in the depths of winter in the biggest storm we had seen in years I didn’t want to leave. We didn’t manage to make the showing in the cinema that night but Glenlo Abbey is definitely on our list for a return visit, hopefully then we can see Murder on the Orient Express ... even if you’re not an Agatha Christie fan don’t hesitate, make the booking. We loved our stay and it’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in anywhere in the world!
Dinner menu needs more variety
bedroom was cold. 3 servers all needed some training in service. breakfast room had no glasses, milk or plates for buffet. had to wait 10 mins before being seated. no strainer for tea. small things but all added up.
Josip made our afternoon tea a very pleasurable experience.
I feel the service let you down from having to go to the kitchen door to get a barnan to serve me in the Palmer bar to my tea and coffee been forgotten at breakfast on day 2 to my sugar been forgotten in the Pullman restaurant and having to get it myself from the next table these are all things that should not happen in a 5 star hotel. I would like to say that the room cleaning staff were lovely as were most of your staff.
There staff were fantastic, incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved the hotel and all of its charming rooms. The food was amazing and the restaurant staff were very attentive without being intrusive, and they were good craic too!
Lovely stay, great atmosphere in an old castle. Beautiful lounge rooms with a real fire and very relaxing. Staff very professional and helpful
Initially we were disappointed the Pullman was closed, but we need not have worried. The food and service was exceptional. We will be strongly recommending to friends. Thanks
Excellent food and service.
We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing break at Glenlo Abbey after Christmas. The hotel was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated, atmospheric and cosy. The service was excellent and all the staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Dining in the Pullman Restaurant on the Orient Express carriages was an amazing culinary experience! This was one of our most enjoyable and relaxing hotel breaks and we hope to return!
Great location, amazing customer service, treat yourself ! Dining on board the orient express was a highlight.
We had an amazing night at the hotel. We found the staff very friendly and approachable. The food was delicious on the train and in the hotel. Really a night of luxury and I hope to come back again soon
Had the afternoon tea here was fabulous and our waitress was so friendly and helpful introducing us with all the different types of teas
