About The Priory, Caerleon
Dating back to 1180 and starting life as a Cistercian Monastery, it later became a Nunnery, private residence and since 1996, this beautiful building and its secluded grounds have been home to the Priory Hotel and Restaurant.
We want your stay with us to be relaxing, enjoyable and focused on fantastic food. The Priory is the perfect setting to unwind, enjoy the best of locally sourced cuisine, and have a truly memorable stay in the historic town of Caerleon.
Considering the windy conditions on Tuesday we had a great time in the marquee. the service from all the staff was great and the food was delicious. Cant wait to return. Well done and congratulations on your reopening and good luck for the future.
We visited on the bank holiday when the weather was foul. Due to COVID, we ate in the prepared marquee in the garden. It was pretty cold but that didn't stop anyone having fun and the staff were putting on a brave face, all of them were as friendly and professional as usual. We've eaten here many times now and the food is always amazing. The menu is quite unusual, with some lovely signature tapas and fish dishes and everything is premium quality and always perfectly cooked. You are definitely our go-to restaurant, keep up the good work!
Well done under very difficult circumstances
I am a big fan of the Priory. The staff, service and food was excellent during my last visit. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t (which is not your fault). However, the outside area was cold and draughty. I appreciate that the outside area is only a temporary arrangement but it could do with some type of heating at the moment. Keep up the good work.
Great to be back!
The outdoor setting was very chilly I think some form of heating should have been provided
Fantastic to be able to get out at long last. Amazing service from the staff.
The service seemed a bit disjointed. The manager told us where to order, but not where the menus were. Other than that, food was lovely, atmosphere was also great. Now we know the score, we’ll definitely visit again.
Gorgeous food, staff were fab, so glad to be back!!!
as always great service, food and great time
Really lovely afternoon- delicious Sunday lunch
Absolutely amazing food and service Sunday afternoon. So lovely to be back!
As always an incredible meal with excellent service ... it’s good to be back !
Always love the priory Great food and atmosphere
This was our first dining experience since February 2020 and the team at the Priory did an outstanding job in making us feel comfortable and welcome in what are still difficult times. The food and service provided was excellent, with the staff taking the time to check whether we were happy with our meals and ensuring we had everything we wanted, or needed. We are looking forward to our next visit!
It was such a shame that the Priory didn’t have the heaters turned on as it was incredibly cold and we had no choice but to leave early despite having a table outside the restaurant.
We missed the special menus but understand due to COVID and only just opening, parents found the hake a bit dry, overall it was very expensive, Friday lunch for 4 £170 with no desserts, more than we expected to pay.
Weren’t asked if we would like a second drink or desserts until just before we had to leave the table which was disappointing
Everything was well organised and we were very well looked after.
Absolutely stunning meal, fabulous service, fabulous staff, one of my favourite places
An enjoyable experience all round. We both had a lovely evening. The food and service was excellent.
Lovely to be back at the priory enjoying excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Had a really enjoyable evening. Great quality food and service with a smile! Staff helpful and sorted request for tables to be close together and provision of a highchair. A good job given the extra difficulties of operating under the Covid restrictions. If I was to offer any constructive feedback it would be the provision of some form of heating in the dining Marquee.
