About The Princess of Shoreditch
A stone’s throw from Old Street on the City/Shoreditch border ‘The Princess’ is blissfully tucked away from the main hubbub of Shoreditch.
We’ve won our fair share of awards and recognition over the last few years but our ethos hasn’t changed a bit. To be the best pub in Shoreditch with the best food in Shoreditch and the best atmosphere in Shoreditch. All whilst providing the best value for money we can.
The lively downstairs bar is available to both drinkers and diners alike and tables are available on a ‘first come’ basis. A walk up our spiral staircase leads to our cosy dining room where reservations are welcome and recommended.
Food was not as good as it used to be. I believe they have changed management. But the servers and management was excellent tho.
best pub roast in London
We had a fantastic time at Princess of Shoreditch this past Sunday. The staff were helpful, attentive and friendly and nothing was too much! The safety precautions were good and we felt safe and despite the 2 limit on table bookings, we didn’t feel rushed out the door. And of course, being encouraged by our server to become the potato champions was another fun highlight. The price was reasonable, especially for London (I’m still getting used to London prices having not been living here long) and the food was delicious. I will absolutely be back when we escape lockdown 2.0. Thanks for such a lovely visit!
Food was delicious, very generous portion of chicken, but maybe could do slightly more for the Beef option? Beef beignet was amazing. Greengage & Almond Souffle was incredible, but again was a much more generous portion when compared to the tiny sliver of Sticky Toffee Pudding. Cocktails were also delicious. A lovely experience though, and would definitely go back
Great lunch and service. Just the thing for these gloomy times we live in ! Thank you :)
Food was delicious Cosy atmosphere Great service
We really enjoyed our lunch, four of us all had the roast beef with trimmings. Only thing I would say is that £4 for a tiny portion of parsnips and cauliflower cheese is a bit over the top. But the roast was delicious and the service was excellent. We took advantage of the complimentary extra roast potatoes and veg. Very dog friendly! A d the desserts were fab, especially the soufflé!
Faultless evening in everyway. Staff were attentive and informative. The upstairs dining room was warm and atmospherically lit, with a good ambeince of socially distanced diners without any overt Covid references. The food was exquisite and certainaly a contender for Michelin status. Amuse bouche, followed by home made bread served with a marmite mouse was an unxepected surprise. Starter, main and dessert were equally exceptional. Definitely will come back and be keeping an eye on new chef Ruth Hansom at the helm.
Expensive but good quality
Excellent food, service was amazing! Service seemed a little ‘under staffed’ we were sat to our table and offered drinks then, but then we had to chase very busy staff down for more drinks. No one called back to see if food was ok, although it was ok we felt the customer service was missing once we were sat down. A little rushed due to time constraints and not personal but sign of the times we assume’
Dear Kerry, Sorry to learn you felt rushed on Sunday. It is a particularly busy day for us and I apologise this had an impact on your experience. Should you be willing to visit us again we can extend your booking time so that you can fully relax. Warm regards, Bradley
Incredible place, great service. All staff were wonderful and the food is as good as it gets. Absolutely superb and the fig leaf Negroni was a real highlight on the cocktail list
Was brilliant, we really loved it - thank you!
Creative , Inventive cuisine . Beautiful presentation and great taste ,some dishes you would happy with at Michelin star restaurants. The best soufflé ! We look forward to going back.
Used to love their roasts. Food has gone downhill a lot. Beef roast was served deconstructed and lacks flavour. Veg was over boiled and under seasoned.
Amazing sunday roast, especially loved the roast pots refill. The cocoa peanut dessert was delicious!
Great food and service, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Sunday Roast
Absolutely wonderful evening last night. The roast was possibly the best Sunday roast in. London .., big call I know, but it’s true. The service was also exceptional. We will be back
:) lovely roast, pear ice cream was to DIE FOR 👌🏼🍆
I think it would be good to let people know if they have been given a stool at the bar rather than a proper table, before they arrive, so they can consider other options for dinner. The bar is okay but much less comfortable to eat at, for obvious reasons. Also the stools rock back and forth. I'd visit again but only after confirming I have a table, after I've been sent a table reservation confirmation.
A fantastic Sunday lunch, with excellent service. Will definitely be returning.
Whole experience was outstanding
We had a lovely lunch here. The staff we very friendly and helpful especially since we had our baby with us. A very special place.
I had a roast which was delicious, albeit a little expensive.
