About The Princess of Shoreditch
A stone's throw from Old Street on the city border 'The Princess' is blissfully tucked away from the main hubbub of Shoreditch. We've won our fair share of awards and recognition over the last few years but our ethos hasn't changed a bit. To be the best pub in Shoreditch with the best food in Shoreditch and the best atmosphere in Shoreditch. The lively downstairs bar is available to both drinkers and diners alike and tables are available on a 'first come' basis. A walk up our spiral staircase leads to our cosy dining room where reservations are welcome and recommended.
Forgot one dessert and felt rushed off the table when we still had 15 mins left
Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch with you, enjoyable experience throughout, from booking (you kindly moved our table from the pub to the dining room when space became available) great service, fabulous food and loved the Yorkshire puddings! have already recommended to friends. Will be back. Thank you 🙏
Original table was by the stairs and too small for three of us. Nice small menu but not great when there was no cod left. Waitress said the cod could be substituted for salmon but what came up was salmon and chips not the cod dish, very weird.Has to wait ages for wine. Food was average, I have had much better here. Will not rush back.
We had a lovely and delicious dinner here. The food and the ambiance were absolutely amazing. The service was great, too!
We came on a Sunday, which must be one of their more popular times, so perhaps our experience is a bit skewed. Essentially, the roast was fantastic, the service left something to be desired (it took ages for our order to be taken, and the table of 4 seated after us was served their food before our order had even been taken) and finally our food came before our drinks did, so I had to ask for them again separately. It was just two cans of IPA, I've no idea why it took so long. The waitresses did look rather stressed, so maybe they were understaffed. The fact remains that the food was fantastic an if you've got the time to wait, it's definitely worth the visit.
I ordered my Sunday roast with the sauce on the side and it came with the sauce all over. However I mentioned this and very quickly my plate was removed and a new one came up in only few minutes. I’m very grateful for this. The food was good.
Food took quite awhile to come out; apologies were given, though larger tables that arrived 20 minutes after were served at around the same time. Otherwise a lovely meal!
Lovely meal. Service excellent. Would definitely recommend for an evening meal
Second time having a roast at Princess of Shoreditch. The first was amazing; crispy pork belly and the vegetarian nut roast. However, on our second attendance, a guess had the beef and unfortunately there was probably about 60/40 meat to fat. I understand that the fat is left on the meat for flavour - and so it should - but, I think serving the beef with such measures of fat may be considered slightly too much. I think for the cost of the roast you'd expect something far better than what we received. We will be back as I'm sure it's just a 'bad batch' - and your nut roast and pork are still amazing. Just thought i'd let you know. Many Thanks Josh
Thanks for your feedback, Josh! We appreciate your review and have taken your comments into consideration. Hope to see you soon!
Awesome! I really like to visit your Restaurant! It's always a good time and a nice place :-D The Meal is really great!
Truly wonderful roast!
having the soup for my starter I expected to receive a roll or some bread with it (maybe a bit old fashioned!) but when I asked for some I was charged £1 for it.
Very easy booking process, i emailed about a specific whisky pairing dinner and was promptly sent a link to follow. On arrival, the staff was lovely and attentive and the food (and whisky) where delicious! I've been to the Princess of Shoreditch quite a few times now and really love that you are hosting that kind of foodie - boozie events :)
A gem find
Delicious food and reasonably priced. The dining room (upstairs) is beautiful and highly recommended when you make your booking!
The service was attentive and friendly. Food was good pub food and fairly reasonably priced. We had to eat downstairs which was super noisey so I will definitely boom the restaurant upstairs next time.
Great whisky dinner
After reading great reviews and hearing glowing feedback on The Princess of Shoreditch I was more than excited for my visit. Upon arrival we could barely get through the doors, but the bartender greeted us and mentioned if we had a booking to make our way to the far side of the bar. Batting past the back end of chairs (where people were sat eating their dinners) we made our way to the other side. Where a laptop took up valuable bar space, we then waited in line for the manager, where I was ignored twice, as the people behind in the questions me were addressed as if I want stood there. Eventually I butted in to ask for my table. We were told our table wasn't ready and invited to the bar to get drinks, we wanted to order wine, but as they were out of stock across many bottles the wine list jumped from the house wine at £21/22 per bottle straight up to a bottle of wine costing just shy of £50.00 per bottle. We mentioned that we weren't happy to pay £50.00 for a bottle of wine and the Managers response was 'thats very weird'. Not sure this is the best customer service experience to be setting out for your team to follow. and certainly put our experience onto a negative note. The quality of the roast dinner was impeccable, and was throughly enjoyed. The dessert wasn't set and therefore was removed from the bill gracefully by our waiter. It's clear to see that it is a busy pub/restaurant and every one is working hard, its a shame that the chefs hard work was let down by the attitude of a Front of house Manager.
Food was great, desserts amazing specialy the cheesecake and winter berries,so overall a very appreciated experience, thank you for everything, and thank you very much to Leonardo who was I wonderfull host and served us in a very professional manner
