About The Prince of Wales
The Prince of Wales sits on the edge of the beautiful Chatsworth Estate in the pretty village of Baslow. Our passion is fresh, seasonal food using local ingredients in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
The bar is a great place to meet up with friends, open from 11am serving Nespresso coffee. Call in at any time for a glass of wine, handcrafted beer from local breweries, or join us for a light lunch or an informal dinner. The Prince of Wales boasts three contemporary dining areas, ideal for lunch, supper or dinner.
1 Rosette drinking and dining pub.
We will look forward to welcoming you soon.
Excellent all round with friendly service. Will be back. Thanks
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Slight point. seasoning in fish dish not quite as tasty as the previous week when I had the same dish but still good.
Love your Sunday roasts and will be back soon , but I don't get why the chef puts pickled onions an a 'Roast Pork Dinner' would prefer the tried and tested crackling with my Pork.. a marriage made in heaven ..
Cold room, had to leave our coats on, female manger ignored us on entry and seemed rude
My husband and I had Sunday Lunch with our small dog on Jan 12th 2020. The booking process was easy and our table was ready clean and “reserved” when we arrived. Waitress service was a nice touch and our order arrived without undue delay. The lunch was freshly cooked, plentiful and simply delicious. 2 juicy slices of rare beef, a large fluffy Yorkshire pudding and 6 vegetables bathed in a scrumptious meaty gravy. Can recommend completely and we will be returning ASAP Sarah Hawksworth
Great Sunday Lunch & Beer too. First time my parents have been and they loved it.
Amazingly good Sunday Lunch.
Great service and atmosphere. Some items a bit over salty and I had the steak pie ..... well cooked but didnt expect it to be so like a minced shepherd's pie.
Lovely evening made possible by attentive staff and good food x
Thoroughly enjoyed everything but the food was an absolute delight. Flavours to die for.
Will definitely be back. Great that this place has a dog friendly bar area
Menu more extensive than our last visit but more variety still needed. Some dishes were over seasoned and the parfait desert was not pleasing. Good wine list. The service was excellent throughout.
Like the new décor and the fact that it is also a drinkers pub as well as a top class restaurant
Lovely greeting at the door friendly staffxx
Very nice evening, although my Steak was a little too ‘mature’ ! See you again Thanks
Excellent as always
We enjoyed our New years Eve dinner. Food excellent as was the efficient and engaging service from Holly .
Had a perfect Sunday Lunch - the vegetables were truly delicious - the beef was a little tough to be fair - the waitress asked me how the meal was I mentioned the toughness of the beef and she was a bit dismissive and unconcerned as if I made it up - however the pubs in a great location and overall good experience would recommend.
Fantastic food and service.
Lovely place and lovely staff. This is our second visit and will be back x
Had a lovely meal ....been 3 times over recent months and this time was the best ( the others were good too!) Couldn't fault it x
As we didn't choose from the menu beforehand, this didn't seem to matter and although it was still busy at 2.0pm, the service was pretty good. I will certainly come again and bring friends. The food was excellent the butternut squash tart to begin with was delicious and light. See you again soon. Vivien Roe
The Prince of Wales is a great place to eat. We were there most recently for lunch between Christmas and New Year, so the restaurant was quite busy. Even so, the service was excellent and we were not kept waiting. I really enjoyed the beetroot and fig quinoa; however, my husband felt the mustard sauce on his burger overwhelmed all the other flavours. I had the treacle tart with eggnog ice cream for dessert. Delicious, but it would have been good to have more of the ice cream, the portion was quite small. The same was true of the coconut sorbet served with the barbecued pineapple dessert chosen by my husband - which was otherwise very tasty! We will definitely be returning.
For what you get this is actually great value for money. Superb.
