About The Potting Shed Cafe
Situated on the edge of St Albans with stunning views over open fields, the Potting Shed Cafe is light and spacious serving speciality teas and coffee, breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes using our own grown and locally sourced produce.
Set within a converted barn and with views over a beautifully landscaped garden and open countryside, The award winning Potting Shed Café is one of the most picturesque venues to eat in St Albans, Harpenden, Welwyn and villages in Hertfordshire. On warm sunny days you can dine outside on our sheltered patio or with the bi-fold doors open, enjoy the summer breeze gently blowing in. Well behaved dogs are welcome, so you can relax and enjoy a well-earned drink and slice of cake after a walk around Heartwood Forest situated less than a mile down the road.
After growing fruit and vegetables on-site for our farm shop for over 90yrs, we’ve gained a wealth of knowledge in growing the best produce. Our chefs use what we grow to create original dishes and seasonal favourites for our specials menu so we always have something new to try. Whether you’re looking for a light bite or hearty lunch we have a wide range of dishes to suit everyone. You will also find a great selection of Vegetarian, Vegan And Gluten-Free options.
Best veggie breakfast I've had.
Really enjoyed my visit. Good friendly service and a great selection on the menu. Although I was disappointed and surprised that by 13:30 they had ran out of soup! But I enjoyed what I did have. Great that they grow their own food and buy locally. Can't wait until they open again.
The waitress we had was lovely, very pleasant and polite. Would recommend this lovely little place for a catch up and coffee. Will definitely be back when we can
Lovely atmosphere and extremely good food
The waiter tried to rush us - I had booked the table for 9.30am and we were interrupted several times...I had booked the table for a business meeting and only required coffee. Once the waiter realised we weren't going to be eating, he did his best to get us out of there. We were out within half an hour as we felt uncomfortable - having booked on line, it was my understanding that we had the table for an hour. I was also ignored on arrival at the door for over 5 minutes, despite being seen.
Lovely fresh food . Great menu choice.
We shall be back in December!
Lovely tea and cake. Will be back when you reopen
Simply amazing. My first time and I will be back ! I have already recommended to friends and organising a big brunch for when we are finally rid of this coronavirus!!
I love going to the Potting Shed for a cuppa and cake with friends.
Had an amazing lunch!
Great breakfast and great service. Dogs thoroughly enjoyed the outing too
Absolutely love the range and quality of food in a lovely setting. Staff are always very helpful and efficient too. A real hidden gem of seasonal specials and quality food.
Lovely food, friendly service - we’ll be back when we can!
Brunch was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly but the 1 slice of sourdough wasn't enough to mop up the egg yolks on the avocado smash. Would have loved the option of an extra slice.
A lovely place to spend an hour or two.
This place is fantastic. They are missing a trick for not being open for dinner
Delicious brunch. Lovely venue.
Good service, nice breakfast! Will definitely go back!
You made us feel very welcome and also allowed us to spend some extra time with you for another cup of tea. Thank you.
We had a delicious lunch, mushrooms on toast were excellent! Staff working hard within COVID restrictions. Thank you
Accommodating, welcoming, COVID conscious with a sense of realism, and the food was great too!
What a great set up! From easy online booking, to impressive COVID measures, to a delicious breakfast; I was impressed. Thank you.
It was lovely to come back after several months away. Staff are always friendly and it feels Covid secure. Thank you!
