Perfect venue for a party!! Would definitely book again!
Service was absolutely amazing. Not sure if the girls name who looked after us but got to say she was excellent. Made us feel so comfortable, communicated with myself really well and was so friendly. It was also really nice to feel relaxed and not under pressure to leave early or anything which I feel like other places have done when I have hosted parties there before. Food was amazing! I think it’s fair to say everyone at our party was pleased with their meals and will be coming back at some point - I know I will be! A huge thank you to all of the staff that worked, everyone went out of their way to make us feel relaxed and we all enjoyed ourselves.
I booked here months in advance for my mother in law's 70th. I hadn't been here before but was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed and won't be going back. The beef was incredibly tough which we did complain about but they had run out of beef so couldn't replace it. We must have had the end which is why it was tough. The table next to us also complained. The service was shocking, we weren't table checked and after our food there was no mention of desserts from the staff. We actually saw a dessert platter come out and asked a staff member what was in it who replied with dessert stuff, with this he didn't ask if we wanted desserts. When we called someone over to ask and explained to her nobody had been over she said they had run out of desserts too!
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The magician was a fabulous, unexpected piece of entertainment. We’ll definitely be back.
Came to watch the England v SA world cup match, for breakfast. Highly recommended. Atmosphere was great Tables moved to accommodate us for perfect viewing Friendly staff Gorgeous breakfast Cant wait to visit again!!
Our masterclass was fantastic and our host was lovely and knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend them highly.
We had such a lovely meal at the weekend to celebrate our friends engagement! Thank you to everyone at the pod for a beautiful Sunday roast!
This was my first visit and definitely won’t be my last absolutely superb great atmosphere great food and will definitely be returning
Service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Aquas enjoy visiting the Pod.
We had a table booked for Sunday lunch for 3pm and it wasn’t served until 4.10pm.
Great afternoon, food was decent and service was excellent
Really enjoyed our 1st visit...Sunday lunch was excellent , as was the service received...the added bonus of Adam Reeves (magician) was also well received ….It wasn't as busy as we anticipated...We had a window table which give us a nice view, albeit a bit warm because it was quite sunny when we visited...all in all, excellent and would happily return
What a shame. So I booked a table two weeks in advance to celebrate an engagement. When we arrived we were seated, handed some printed paper menus which look like they’d been chewed up and used to dry the bar. We were then told that the majority of the food was not available, in fact only two starters neither of which were vegetarian. Then only two mains again none that were vegetarian. The waitress did go and check to see if there was any veggie burgers. We were then advised that an order has just gone to the kitchen so we’d probably have an hours wait to eat. This ruined the whole evening. What an absolute waste of time and money. I had an email asking me to confirm my booking and at no point was i informed that the menu would be drastically cut. I was looking forward to showing off Newport to friends from out of town and unfortunately the pod let us down!
First time visiting the pod on Saturday and it was lovely! The lady who served us was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back
Excellent venue, beautiful food & most importantly friendly attentive staff.
Lovely food, service great. Will definitely be back
I have sent this as "contact us" on your website but il try again......my experience at the Pod. I went with my parents so there were 3 of us. Booking for 12midday, arrived 15mins early and got greeted by one waitress then strangely as she was going through our booking another waitress also started to greet us...so they kind of overlapped?! Anyway as one was trying to show us to our table another was trying to keep us while she checked our booking, so straight away i was made to feel awkward. We sat down then noticed that everyones names were on their tables, i know this may seem a bit fussy but i dont want my name shown to everyone and i would think with todays GDPR rules are you even allowed to display peoples names? We sat down and were asked what we wanted to drink, for the first time ever i wanted a coffee, my dad also asked for coffee and my mum wanted a hot chocolate....we were then told a few minutes later that they couldnt do this as the coffee machine needed warming up. By this point it was 12midday....surely your coffee machine would be ready by then?! Anyhow, when we were seated we were placed in the middle of the layout which is fine but then i noticed that the waitresses went around serving from one side to another (right to left or left to right, you know what i mean) which is good for them but it meant that although we were the first ones to actually be seated lots of people were served before us which i didnt think was particularly good service....plus i was very hungry and just wanted my food. So apparently Sunday lunch is served either with meat or without....simple....so why did they even need to take our order? Surely as were seated they could've asked "meat or veg?" and that would be that?! Which would've meant as soon as the food was ready it could be put on our table, instead we waited until about 12.25pm to have our "order" taken when there literally is no choice....bizarre. the food got brought to us and straight away they had missed those weird crispy things off of 2 out of 3 meals, the beef was well over cooked, the veg was under cooked....my mum had to literally saw through her cauliflower, the roast potatos werent crispy and also the chicken was served on the bone....for whatever reason i dont like chicken on the bone but no one asked what i wanted or how i like it....i was just served it, like it or leave it i guess?! We got through our meals and was offered dessert....could we see a menu? No because there is no menu....what restaurant doesnt have a menu? Bearing in mind when i booked the table (maybe more than 2months in advance) i stated my mum has to have gluten and dairy free food.....there were NO desserts that suited these requirements. By this point we just wanted to pay and leave...the coffee machine was all warmed up by this point but we just wanted out. 2 peope had reccomended your restaurant to us and all i can say is they must not get out much. Also your black cuttlery may look cool (i like it) but all it does is show how scratched it is, the water jugs are weird to pour from and was dirty and my mum noticed that the pots you serve gravy from are plant pots from Ikea. I genuinely look forward to your reply and how you are going to compensate me for this terrible dining experience......a refund would be an excellent start?!
Gorgeous Sunday dinner! Friendly staff! Would highly recommend!
No menus, slow service for drinks, not sure about the combined chicken and beef fixed Sunday lunch, although presentation was excellent. Table too close to next one and therefore uncomfortable. Couldnt see anywhere for coats.
The Sunday lunch was very good but we had been recommended how good the gravy was by my daughter. It was tasteless. Chef came over after to ask if we'd enjoyed our dinner and we told her it was good except gravy which tasted like bisto granules. She admitted that stock hadn't been delivered. She was lovely. Just had to mention it because gravy can make or break a meal. Marie PS magician awesome!
Enjoyed the Sunday lunch however preferred chicken breast rather than chicken leg. Our table of 4; 3 of us had a chicken leg. Luckily I had the chicken breast and that and the beef was tasty. Impressed with the quality and quantity of the veg and gravy. Super impressed with the appearance of Adam (the magician) he was amazing. This really did make the lunch extremely memorable. We will definitely be returning soon with other family members. Many thanks
Very difficult to book or discuss any needs with staff as phone never answered. Table was not ready on time, no-one came to take a drinks order and after 30 minutes of sitting had to ask for someone to take food order. Food eventually arrived - not very warm. Not forthcoming with dessert menu, again had to ask for it.
We waited over an hour for food, weren’t served drinks for thirty minutes, the beef was inedible, roast potatoes soaked through with cheap fat as though they had been deep fried and the gravy was like brown water.
Warm and friendly welcome, great food and attentive staff.
We all had a great time everything was perfect couldn't have asked for a better venue with fab entertainment 😃😃😃
