About The Poacher's Pocket
Traditional British Cuisine
Went for Sunday lunch for our 35th anniversary and both enjoyed the meal. Food was fabulous and service was prompt and friendly. Will be back again.
Very nice family meal indeed. Good quality food, excellent friendly staff and service and we thought very good value for money.
Staff always second to none..first class
Lovely meal very happy
When you come in there is no obvious place to wait to be greeted, you sort of hover with lots of people who are working but no idea who you should speak to until someone then asked us. When we left there was a couple who had been waiting a long time with the same issue, load of people but no one greeted them. Also, there seemed to be a very long wait to get our first and second courses after ordering. When the second course came we had to then wait for the vegetables, there was too long a wait between and no obvious sign that someone was still serving us, so was difficult to know if they had been forgotten? Overall a good experience and great food, but the service side let it down. We had heard so many good things but after our first visit I would say it's not worth the trip from Lisburn to go back again.
Had to return 2 meals but were changed without any problem so 5star for service. Wasnt impressed by the *Optional Tip and Charity donation. Bit sneaky!! Lesson learned. Always check the bill before leaving a tip.
We were really disappointed with our experience in poachers pocket Having recently moved into the area and heard good things about it we thought we would give it a try. The service we experienced was very ooor - we had to wait to order drinks - the attitude of our server was poor - she could have been more friendly and helpful. We then had to ask to order our meal after drinks were served. Starters came reasonably promptly but it was then an hour and half from arriving that we eventually got our mains - having had to ask were they coming. Food was average the menu promised more than it delivered. No one checked on us during our meal no one offered us dessert tea or coffee and eventually we went up to pay. On leaving our plates were still sitting on the table. I appreciate Sunday afternoon/evening can be busy but this level of service was really unacceptable and I don't plan to return any time soon
Lovely meal , The food was excellent and nicely presented, The staff where a little pushed at times but where always pleasant and attentive, it took a while for a drinks order to be taken after being seated but the service after that was fine and we would return again , 4 coarse meal with 2 drinks For £70 pounds is very good in this era .
Hadn’t booked a table but welcomed and given a table. Food was above expectations, dined at Ballo House on Saturday but disappointed.
Only negative was that the jug of water tasted of antiseptic! We didn’t complain as we had ordered other drinks but in hindsight should have mentioned it. Food was fabulous and we’ll definitely be back.
Really enjoyed being back for the first time in a couple of years - great food, value and atmosphere and we didn’t feel like we were intruders with a toddler and baby in tow.
Food went downhill for a good while there so we hadn’t been in ages. So glad we returned! The food is beautiful again, especially the roast beef!
Great food, service and location
Varied menu. We were a party of 13 and each one of us was delighted with our meal. Taste and presentation was excellent, and service exceptional.
Always a cut above the average! Plenty of interesting menus choices. the squid excellent as ever, service staff friendly and helpful. Really good value for money. Top marks to the bar person who made us two great cocktails!!
Lovely Sunday lunch. Great service from pleasant and helpful staff. Really enjoyed all the food. Only comment I would make is that we would have liked a bit more veg selection. We did ask for more potatoes which were quickly brought.
Food was unreal. Will definitely be back
Fab service and a gorgeous meal
Had a poor meal a couple of years ago and had been put off going but Really enjoyable meal this time. Will be back
Food was good however service was very slow with no explanation why and the waiter forgot our desert order.
Need to change the menu.
Had a very enjoyable meal. Service was good and friendly but towards the end of the meal the noise levels were very much raised. We couldn’t even hear each other talking. Not the fault of Poachers Pocket but wouldn’t recommend it for a nice intimate evening!
Not only was the food very good it was complemented by excellent friendly service. We will be back again.
Always enjoy visits to the Poachers Pocket, the food was great the staff attentive but unobtrusive and the atmosphere relaxing. We didn't feel rushed either through the courses or to leave. We will definitely be back soon
