About The Plough Inn
The Plough Inn is situated in the quaint hamlet of Wingfield in Central Bedfordshire, halfway between Toddington and Dunstable and is easily accessible from junction 11a on the M1 in just five minutes.
We are the image of the classic British country pub inside and out, but with our own modern twists. We have two amazing large domes in our back garden which are perfect for al fresco private dining or evening drinks, of course with their own heaters should the weather turn British. There are also several picnic benches and tables throughout our large garden for you to make the most of the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside surroundings.
Inside, we have period pub features that remind you of our amazing history and is tastefully decorated throughout to preserve the natural beauty of the building, whilst providing a contemporary feel.
Our food follows this theme, great British pub classics alongside modern and exciting dishes. Weather you are after a handmade burger with local ingredients and a pint of local ale, or freshly caught red mullet fillets with asparagus and caper jus and a glass of crisp Picpoul de Pinet to match, we will have you covered.
We pride ourselves on our service; nothing short of perfection will do. Our amazing front of house team will ensure a warm welcome, and that your experience with us always exceeds expectations. Our talented kitchen team take pride with every dish, ensuring that it is always as it should be: perfect. Every item on our menu is cooked fresh, and we do not believe in cooking with frozen food (apart from our great ice cream selection obviously!), so while we may not be the fastest kitchen, you can be assured that we are one of the best.
Limited menu, no chicken options and veg slightly underdone meat perfectly cooked 7/10 overall We would visit again
Beautiful dome, they have thought of everything to be as covid secure as possible, lovely pub, friendly staff and great food. Have already recommended to friends and will return again.
Ist time I've been out to a pub for over a year, a special occasion so had to dare, made a fabulous choice. The booking was simple I received the confirmation but also an email from the manager to confirm which was lovely. I booked a dome which even though it was tiddling down it was dry, little lights & a heater if you required it, very comfy. The 4 of us had three courses which were lovely, cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef, and served well in what was difficult circumstances due to the weather. The checking on us throughout our stay was lovely, polite & not intrusive at all & covered all our liquid needs. Due to us not going out at all over these difficult months I am pleased to say I chose well & felt very comfortable in where we were. We will definitely be going back and are looking forward to it, well done The Plough and your team,1st class xXx
We had a lovely evening.
Friendly people and a lovely meal - highly recommend
Excellent food and service.
We loved our dome yesterday especially when it showered! We had a warm welcome and excellent service and food.
This was my first meal out for a very long time! Due to restrictions, we were eating outside for lunch and, although it became very chilly, the Pub had heaters in the patio area (where we were sat) and blankets were available to everyone. These were all very welcome and made us feel much more comfortable in that cold wind. The food we had was extremely well presented and tasty; although my risotto was only luke warm when first brought out. However, this was quickly replaced with a fresh, hot one without any fuss and it was delicious. My husband and our guest really enjoyed their burger meals and so would recommend that. The only comments they made was they could have done with a few more of those delicious chips and would have preferred it served on a warmed plate instead of a wooden board (might help the food stay hotter too - especially when it was so cold when having to eat outside). I did find the menu to be rather limited and would have preferred more choices in each section but there may be a reason for this under the current circumstances. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly so, all in all, a very pleasant visit and we will definitely pop back there again some time.
Roast pork and crackling was great, would have liked some apple sauce on the plate and a lot more gravy- even if just in a little pot beside it. The crumble was the best I’ve tasted. Good service, and nice atmosphere.
Highly recommend this gem of a place, the food was delicious, the service was spot on and very Covid safe with your regime. Thank you very much for a wonderful time dining in the dome! We'll definitely be returning soon! ☆
Service very slow. The main ingredient Bombay sapphire gin on your spring cocktails menu you didn’t have? We were offered a different gin which we accepted, at no point were we advised it would cost more, we found out when we received the bill!! There is no lunch time menu so very limited choice. Food was very ordinary & expensive for what I’ve had.
The Pod was enjoyable and the team did well under the current restrictions. The food was good but a little expensive.
Lovely pub, great food
We had a lovely Sunday roast in the sunshine. Will definitely be returning.
Beautiful place, no drinks menu so having to ask what was there for each person. Really enjoyed it but was a bit disappointed. If your eating here Id say from what I saw food looked and smelled great but for a drink maybe not.
Lovely meal , steak cooked to perfection and a lovely homemade burger very tasty .
Excellent food and service. Had a lovely time. A beautiful pub in a beautiful village.
Visited for our first meal after lockdown, amazing service, lovely food in the sunny garden. Can’t wait to come back
Excellent service. Lovely food. Only slight negative would be I wish there was more a variety of lager as only one. Ok for me however not everyone likes strong lager.
Lovely garden and seating area. Well presented food. Pretty thatched roof pub. Friendly staff. I would recommend it.
We had a lovely meal and the staff were great
Really lovely garden, food and atmosphere. Thank you, I'll be back!
