About The Plough and Harrow
Welcome to The Plough and Harrow, our Restaurant is set in a beautiful open setting in a very characteristic spot, oak finishes and open fires. Just sit back, relax and enjoy your time with us.
First visit to you, and we all really enjoyed it. Will defiantly be returning
This was our first visit and we enjoyed it the only complaint about the carvery was that the gravy , even though it was lovely and thick , was not hot enough. But we did enjoy the rest of the food . The service was excellent and the waitress was very attentive
First time here since it reopened- very nicely done out inside. We went for the carvery and the food really was good. The service was a bit hit and miss- mainly I suspect because it was busy, and the restaurant has been laid out in such a way to maximise tables and people in there. The staff were doing their best so I don’t blame them- a few extras would help ease the presssure at peak times though.. It was really nice to not have to queue for the carvery counter- they seem to control when people go up really well. We will be back..
Nice food, however the carvery is chaotic (you can order two sizes of meal but it’s down to you to tell the carvery staff what size you have ordered), the waitress (at least the one we had) was beyond useless, there is no child friendly juice cartons, parts of the order never arrived, the waitress repeatedly forgot we had a child with us (she put a sharp knife and drinks directly in front of a 2 year old and completely forgot his drink) and to top it off she repeatedly hovered by us after we had paid for a tip.
We were very disappointed with the carvery, the vegetables were lukewarm and the meat tasteless. We had visited before the changes and had lovely hot, tasty meals. The gammon meal was lovely. The service however was excellent, coffee not good.
A very enjoyable experience overall that certainly helped to enhance a quality day out with friends.
Negative points first are:- not enough variety of veg on carvery. Main menu very minimal. When I booked the table I explained a member of our party had a Nut allergy, it would be appreciated if you could five us any info on the desserts when we arrive please. When I explained again to the waitress about a Nut allergy before ordering desserts. She said yes that's ok. ??? We didn't have a dessert. We didn't feel safe to know of there would be any contamination with cutlery. As we had NO RESPONSE. Good Points, the carvery was very tasty. Plenty meat & just crumbled, very tender. The men serving the meat were very chatty & friendly. The front of House lady that greeted us, was very bubbly & happy, also made us feel very welcome. Decor & refurb is very nice, warm, more spacious & clean. Yes I would definitely return. Despite my negative opinions, I have more positive ones. 😊
All staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was efficient and quality of the food was excellent. Our second visit in two weeks and we’re looking forward to coming again soon.
Fantastic service and food was amazing Highly recommended
We had a lovely meal with wonderful service and food. Will definitely be back!
great evening.shame the turkey was not available.
Quiet at the start of lunchtime but some filled up. The beef was very succulent
Very prompt service even though it was busy. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and led to a table. Drinks order was taken and delivered promptly. Tasty food and then no rush to leave even after we had paid the bill.
Sorry for negative feedback unfortunately the gravy was horrible with a jelly texture and astonishingly even though you served beef and on a Sunday evening we got told there was a 20 minute wait for Yorkshire puddings!
Loved the decor. Service was efficient and very friendly. Food was great value for money and tasted great. Would recommend the white bait and the home made tortillas for starters. Mains of monk fish and prawn curry was amazing and the Roast turkey carvery was great. Will definitely be coming back and bringing the dog with us too.
Great food choice for us and daughters. Carvery very nice and a lovely fireplace. Excellent service!
We had been many times before the refurb and new management and although the food had always been good, last nights meal was definitely our best...compliments to the chef!! The service was excellent..attentive but not intrusive. Excellent value. We will be returning soon.
Good Food. Good Atmosphere. Good Service.
Very good. Not sure was quite as good as previous owners but enjoyable no complaints
Good honest food and excellent carvery
Lovely meal. Great service.
The gammon on the carvery was too salty and would like to see broccoli as an option for the veg but apart from that the food and service is amazing and will definitely be back again!
Lovely carvery, will go again
