About The Plough
Our relaxed restaurant and bar delivers a great pub and food experience whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat at lunch or more leisurely evening or Sunday dinning we’ve got it covered. Our Head Chef, Jon Smith and his talented team create classic modern British dishes with new and exciting flavours using fresh, seasonal Yorkshire ingredients.
The team prides itself in providing something for every taste and occasion and diners can choose from popular pub classics such as traditional fish ‘n’ chips, sausage and mash to our 30 day aged steaks, North Sea Lobster and fresh Market Fish of the Day. Our traditional Sunday roasts use only the finest prime topside of Yorkshire Beef and our weekly specials board let us showcase the very best local and seasonal ingredients. Our prices are appetising too – with main courses starting from only £10s.
Great restaurant with good food and service would recommend
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch. Service was a bit sporadic although the restaurant was not at all busy.
Pleasant welcome and service. Sunday lunch most enjoyable with one criticism - beef was described as “pink” and we asked for it to be as pink as possible - we like roast beef very rare. When it came it was not at all pink but very well done. Very tasty but not what we expected. Vegetables excellent - just as we like - broccoli not over cooked and potatoes and root vegetables great. Would definitely recommend but if we return we would check the “pinkness” of the roast beef or choose something else.
We asked if we could alter our reservation to 8:30 and was advised this wasn’t possible due to other bookings. There were empty tables throughout our meal and our table was not used after we finished our meal as had been indicated was the problem. The staff are really friendly and helpful, but there diesn’t Seem any organisation. The water for our table never came, we got asked by different staff was everything ok and did we want more drinks, but could bring the drinks without being asked again or clear plates promptly.. The food was good, decor and atmosphere good just needs to be a little more tightly run.
Service and food excellent from beginning to end, a truly scrumptious Sunday lunch, thank you.
Thank you for everything. You have helped us develop social enterprise on the Yorkshire Coast and provided the perfect setting for a productive working dinner.
First visit.... and we'll be back.
We have dined at the Plough a good number of times now but recently we’re starting to feel that the menu is a little limited particularly in the choice of mains. I fancied a steak but I had a choice of a rather measly 6oz rump or an over-priced 8oz fillet. No Sirloin!? Also we were wondering how one of your sister pubs can offer the same fillet steak on their menu for £5 cheaper? Same weight and cut, same owner, same supplier? Is it down to geography? I don’t like to be taken advantage of, so will be thinking twice about rebooking. Sorry you did ask for some feedback! On a positive the service and ambience were as good as usual. Thanks.
Great Sunday lunch out
Brilliant, attentive service, lovely atmosphere and superb tasting traditional Sunday lunch. We will definitely return!
very enjoyable only fault was too much garlic on the broccoli.
Fab - third time eating here in a month - says it all!
Fabulous roast beef Sunday lunch. Good sized portions but not too huge. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Beautiful food, great service. Just a shame our table as next to the bar area as it was quite noisy at some points. But have been lots of times and will continue to come and recommend to anyone who asks.
2nd visit. Very enjoyable. Returning in February.
We go to The Plough on a regular basis and always enjoy the food and service, however I had the Christmas pudding desert which was inedible, you couldn't even get your spoon through it. However I must complement The Plough as they were quick to offer me a replacement dessert or a refund of the cost. Looking forward to our next visit.
very good food and exceptional service. Will definitely visit again
Hats off to you all at The Plough for accommodating 23 of us for our staff Christmas Lunch. Beautiful food , wonderful staff and a warm friendly atmosphere. What more can you ask for ?
Excellent venue to have our Christmas work meal. The food was value for money and enjoyed by all my colleagues. The service was quick and all the staff were polite and helpful. We will certainly be back.
Amazing food, fab service! Definitely will come back here!
Awesome place awesome food
Really beautiful meal. Looked and tasted wonderful. I think this is my favourite place to eat in the Scarborough area.
Lovely room, attention to detail second to none. Very comfortable and loved the idea of wine glasses on a stand in the bath. Only a tiny criticism - no fresh fruit or grapefruit for breakfast. Evening meal very good - I had vegetarian option even though I am not a vegetarian. Couldnt fault it. Will recommend to friends. Quiet in bar but it was a Monday night. Thoroughly enjoyed!
Lovely meal. Hubby especially enjoyed the beers.
We booked this venue for a birthday treat. A lovely pub with everything you could ask for. My son is a freelance food writer who works in Bristol and the rest of the party are from Cheltenham and we all agreed we hadn't had such good food for a long time. We struggle sometimes as my daughter is a coeliac and have a vegetarian in the group however all felt really spoilt. Well done to all! We will be back!
