About The Pig & Whistle
A pint-sized neighbourhood bistro & charcuterie bar.
Serving small plates, cured meat & cheese.
Purveyor of fine wines, exquisite ales & spirits.
Wonderful evening at P&W. The ‘celebration of wild garlic’ made for a fantastic menu. My favourite haunt in Beverley!
Excellent Service and Great Food.
Brilliant evening, amazing food
The food and wine were excellent but on the evening we visited the staff were a bit preoccupied with the Sommelier who himself didn’t contribute as much to the evening as I expected. We love the usual atmosphere in there so will definitely be back
great food, no other customers except 2 on a ~sunday evening so atmosphere not great and could hear fridge by toilet whirring. Food excellent quality but cheese and game keepers terrine could have been room temperature to help taste. Perhaps have a cooked special that changes to encourage a re visit rather than assembling excellent ingredients. House red and offer good value.
Fantastic new year’s eve spent there
NYE to remember 🍸😄
We had the specials board game terrine and pheasant dishes and they were absolutely delicious.
Had a wonderful visit, the food and drinks we had were top class. A special mention to go to the waitresses who were very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was fantastic and buzzing.
Really enjoyable evening. The perfect setting to chat and enjoy food designed for picking at and sharing. Intimate and cosy setting. Will definitely be back
The Sunday Supper was extremely reasonable, the atmosphere was calm and unrushed; the service polite and unobtrusive. Less than £50 for a meal, wine and sides for 2.
Everything was very lovely. The tiramisu was cream just cream. It's a shame we should taste coffee coming throught otherwise great little restaurant. Thank you
Dinner for 5 with a twist. Just how we like it. An interactive meal with a Mediterranean feel. Could have been in Madrid or Florence. The food and wine was excellent and so was the service. Will be back soon.
Really interesting food.
Lovely food but thought a little on the pricey side for the portion size. Loved the ambiance, especially the background music from an actual record player!
Just wonderful. 5 star all the way. Thank you for a lovely lunch.
Great food, a relaxed and laid back atmosphere - perfect for an autumnal Sunday afternoon. The waitresses were very attentive but not overbearing. The wine list really complimented the food very well. We both look forward to coming back again!
Second visit and loved the food Website needs to show weekly menu though As I was looking forward to boeuf bourgignon!
We loved the whole evening and are hoping you are going to do others in a similar vein on a regular basis! Please let us know if you are.
Amazing night! Thank you x
We were left with mixed feelings about the restaurant. Service was pretty good, the food was very nice quality, prices were reasonable although the dishes were very small. Some of the extras (smoking sausage - a small bowl with some slices of cured sausage, extra charcuterie on tartiflette - about six small slices of salami for £2) seemed a bit mean. The pig skin (pork scratchings with a nice sauce) were very nice indeed and a more than fair price. The main complaint if complaint is the right word is we ordered raclette and tartiflette, what we received was lovely, but they weren't raclette or tartiflette, both dishes being basically potatoes cooked in a creamy cheesy sauce. Like I say delicious but a very different experience to true raclette which in fairness would cost far more than the cost of this dish (although we would happily pay for the true experience and the tartiflette while closer to the true dish was a bit too liquid and saucy. We are great fans of savoyarde food and raclette is a favourite of both of us and the combination of the molten cheese, meat, pickles, boiler potatoes, salad makes for a fantastic meal. Tartiflette should be distinctly more tart like than the creamy potato dish received. However I will say we enjoyed the meal and thought the cost was fair, 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 alcoholic drinks and some table water for £45. I'm not convinced we would rush back, its nice food but isn't really filling a gap for us, if it was authentic French food even costing more (as true raclette would cost far more than the dish we ordered cost) we would be coming back regularly. Would recommend but with caveats.
Did not like the background music!
Fabulous evening - wonderful food with spot-on service. Pretty much perfect!
The quality of the food was excellent, we enjoyed all the dishes we had. The bread was delicious but we couldn’t eat it all, maybe a little too much. We will definitely return.
