About The Phoenix Inn
The Phoenix Inn is an old coaching inn, with lots of nooks and crannies, low ceilings, and uneven floors. This is part of the charm of this 17th century listed building.
Andrew and Sisi Ryder opened this charming restaurant in 2009, and in the last 7 years with the aid of Adrian Culver, head chef, and the whole team have elevated it to one of the best eateries in Hampshire.
The style of food satisfies every mood and pocket, from a fresh sandwich, or ham, egg and chips to oysters, lobster, and Chateaubriand.
Provenance and seasonality are the key elements in formulating the menu, which changes daily. The comprehensive wine list features organic and bio-dynamic, and sulphite free wines, and again is seasonally adjusted. The real ales are Cask Marque accredited and there is a good range of draught lagers, bottled beers, and spirits.
The large peaceful garden is excellent for sunny summer afternoons and the roaring fire in the winter makes The Phoenix a cosy, warm, homely place.
Great fans of the Phoenix Sunday Lunch and again not disappointed. Good service in trying COVID times, food generous, well cooked and a reasonable range of choices. Desserts not quite up to scratch as the only minor downside. Will return yet again.
Excellent. Well organised. Fab food. Nice atmosphere.
The Phoenix never disappoints. One of my all time favourite pubs and definitely the best roast I’ve ever had. All the staff are super friendly, helpful and make an effort to ensure everyone has a great time
Fantastic afternoon great company and lunch. Service spot on.. As usual.
Amazing food, very quick service. Staff very friendly. Chef even made an appearance to ask if everything was ok with the food. Very nice touch. Highly recommend and will be back!
Fantastic food and service as ever. Friend from uni is now veggie and loved the mushroom roast. Can't recommend enough!
Always fantastic 👍
We had a lovely meal in a safe environment with very helpful staff. Couldn't have been better.
Superb food and service as always. We absolutely love it here.
Cannot fault the evening myself and my Wife had with you 5 stars all round.
Really easy process to book a table and the staff for accommodating as the time/number of guests changed plus we had a table request in the bar area. We were able to bring our dogs for food in the bar. Good selection of drinks/wine and the drinks were brought out quickly so we could enjoy whilst looking through the lovely menu. Good selection and the food we had was delicious - the fish and chips is not for the faint hearted!
I did not feel happy with the Covid measures at the restaurant. We were not asked to sanitise our hands on arrival and there didn't seem to be any sanitiser available at the entrance. The table we were given for 6 people was very small, more suited to to 4 people and I don't think this is acceptable in the current climate. With regards the food, one of the plates of boeuf bourguignon was very dry and when we requested more sauce, we were brought a jug of ordinary gravy rather than bouguignon sauce.
First time at the Phoenix and would like to tell all it won’t be my last....great food service brill, great atmosphere as at lunch time packed, also good to see the master chief walking around... great time
Good food friendly staff good service
Perfect Sunday roast
Lovely food as always & very Covid compliant
Alway good every time I go
Lovely warm atmosphere, very pleasant dining experience. Thankyou
We were a party of 3 adults and an eleven month old child. We had booked as a 4. When we arrived we were told there were NO highchairs due to Covid!!!!! No buggies allowed. So basically no young children. Is that not discrimination? So we walked out and went elsewhere - and yes there were highchairs! We have been going to the Phoenix for many years as a family, but if this is their attitude to young families, then we will go elsewhere, where we are made to feel welcome. I'm very surprised that the owners have taken this attitude.
As usual very good food and service
Never seen someone inhale a seabass so quickly! Fantastic food, service and always a treat. Thank you!
We came on Sunday evening at 6pm, I’m not sure what our waitresses name was, but she was amazing and very accommodating.
The food was really good however I ding feel there was anything to support social distancing, tables crammed together just like the d days. It’s for this reason I wouldn’t recommend for these times, normal times however no hesitation
Best Sunday Lunch in the area by a long way
