About The Phoenix Inn
The Phoenix Inn is an old coaching inn, with lots of nooks and crannies, low ceilings, and uneven floors. This is part of the charm of this 17th century listed building.
Andrew and Sisi Ryder opened this charming restaurant in 2009, and in the last 7 years with the aid of Adrian Culver, head chef, and the whole team have elevated it to one of the best eateries in Hampshire.
The style of food satisfies every mood and pocket, from a fresh sandwich, or ham, egg and chips to oysters, lobster, and Chateaubriand.
Provenance and seasonality are the key elements in formulating the menu, which changes daily. The comprehensive wine list features organic and bio-dynamic, and sulphite free wines, and again is seasonally adjusted. The real ales are Cask Marque accredited and there is a good range of draught lagers, bottled beers, and spirits.
The large peaceful garden is excellent for sunny summer afternoons and the roaring fire in the winter makes The Phoenix a cosy, warm, homely place.
I’ve had great meals at the Phoenix but I’m afraid this one wasn’t the best. Steak was dry and the sauce I had in my fushn was sweet and rather cloying. Our starter- the black pudding was really nothing special - the apple sauce did nothing to elevate it above what it basically was, a piece of black pudding on fried bread.BUT everyone has an off day and I still have had many more great experiences to outweigh one bad one so i hope to return (if I may!) and will continue to recommend you. Service was great as ever.
Great food, great environment, great service. Excellent value for money. We keep going back.
Great food in a great atmosphere and my family was considerately seated so we were less worried our two young children didn't disturb other diners.
We had a lovely evening at the Phoenix. Good service, lovely staff and great food. Although I find some dishes a bit expensive
Exceptional meal and service as always. Food fantastic. Atmosphere always welcoming.
Fabulous food and drink as always!
I chose The Phoenix for a special family celebration for my wife’s Birthday. We had a really great time with everyone saying how much they enjoyed the dinner. Amazing Chateaubriand. All staff so friendly and welcoming. Thanks so much ! We’ll be back again very soon.
Very nice meal on a very busy night. Only slight complaint was that the place was very noisy and we could hardly hear ourselves think, but that's the down side of your success I suppose.
Had previous been hit and miss but this visit was a hit. The food was really good. Steak night used to be a busy bustling evening with a good atmosphere, on our visit it was very quiet.
Friendly pub great food always
Scallops to die for! Beef how I like it-rare
Everything was amazing, my mum loved her birthday meal. Thank you! Will Be coming back!
Fantastic roast dinner as usual, never disappoints, best in area.
Yet another visit to our most favourite local pub / restaurant. Andrew and his good lady managed to get us the last table for Sunday lunch (thank you ever so much) at short notice and what a wonderful meal (Odiham steak cuts with all the trimmings followed by an out-of-this-world Apple and Rhubard Crumble with Custard). Scrumptious and nothing less expected. Service was exemplary but we are talking about the Phoenix Inn. Thank you once again and look forward to our next visit very soon. The man with the unique name (Harjit).
Excellent as always. Oysters were amazing!
Brilliant night, really good food and the menu is vast, excellent service plenty of smiles warm and cosy, just my sort of pub/restaurant.
Roast potatoes have changed and not crispy enough
A lovely meal with my family great atmosphere
Great food and service as always!
Excellent Sunday lunch, good selection and really good portion sizes. My only negative would be that we all felt very rushed from the minute we arrived until bill paying time. It was all a bit too fast for me
We sat by the fireplace and had a couple of drinks really pleased with the new moretti . Then went through to the restaurant to eat the food was lovely as always.
Very pleasant place to eat
Always great and consistent. Was pleased to see beef as a roast (last few times I have been it wasn’t on the menu :(
Lovely meal as always
