About The Phoenix Inn
The Phoenix Inn is an old coaching inn, with lots of nooks and crannies, low ceilings, and uneven floors. This is part of the charm of this 17th century listed building.
Andrew and Sisi Ryder opened this charming restaurant in 2009, and in the last 7 years with the aid of Adrian Culver, head chef, and the whole team have elevated it to one of the best eateries in Hampshire.
The style of food satisfies every mood and pocket, from a fresh sandwich, or ham, egg and chips to oysters, lobster, and Chateaubriand.
Provenance and seasonality are the key elements in formulating the menu, which changes daily. The comprehensive wine list features organic and bio-dynamic, and sulphite free wines, and again is seasonally adjusted. The real ales are Cask Marque accredited and there is a good range of draught lagers, bottled beers, and spirits.
The large peaceful garden is excellent for sunny summer afternoons and the roaring fire in the winter makes The Phoenix a cosy, warm, homely place.
Great food, great staff and great service Thank you Andrew, Sisi and co, will be back again very soon.
Highly recommend the Phoenix to anyone looking for a full meal or just a few drinks.
Great to be back at the Phoenix Inn our favourite pub & restaurant, as good as ever we love it. Ken
Could not fault our evening. Beautiful, friendly atmosphere with great food. Was really nice to see the chefs personally coming out to check everyone was enjoying their meal.
Service was slightly slow but everything else was superb. Handled Covid-19 exceptionally well too!
Great place safe and friendly, food was stunning looking forward to going back
Very friendly, welcoming staff. Lovely food, would definitely go back
Food, wine, service amazing can always guarantee a fantastic Evening 😀
Fabulous Sunday lunch! Good service too!
Incredible Sunday lunch for 10 including kids, dogs welcomed into bar and some of the best pub roast potatoes out there! Friendly staff and great service.
Ordered a shandy as driving and received a beer which was changed. Ordered a Chateaubriand which came but waited 5 mins for the fries and salad. Waitress took mains to reheat and then brought out fries and salad!!! We then waited for the steak. Was not impressed!! Manager apologised saying it was because many customers arrived later than were expected so put a strain on the staff. Not our fault as we arrived on time!!
Once again a really enjoyable afternoon … Thanks very much indeed
Always a lovely atmosphere.
The food is of high quality cooked extremely well, my husband's burger very tasty and cooked with a pink centre just as he likes it. The service is friendly and efficient. 7m looking forward to our next visit.
Well worth a visit ~ we are so lucky to have such fine dining on our doorstep
Service was very slow from being seated to having drinks orders taken, and then a further long wait for the drinks to be brought over. Surprising given that we had only ordered x3 drinks ... two of which were soft drinks. However this was outweighed by the food, which was absolutely outstanding ... the best Sunday roast around i'd say and an added bonus that sides were replenished when requested! The puddings didn't disappoint either!
I haven't been to the phoenix since I changed jobs and moved out of the area but being back last night reminded me just how good it is! The food was off the charts amazing. I shall be back again soon!
The reason I have not given 5 star overall is because of the bar service. We arrived 20 minutes early for our booking last Saturday so went to the bar for a drink. The barman was serving a round of 5-6 drinks to one person and we were waiting to be served next. Another person came to the bar and was served immediately, (presume he was a regular),when we mentioned that we were already waiting the barman shrugged his shoulders and carried on serving the other person. He needs to be told to serve people in the order they have been waiting, so this was not a good first impression. The food and table service was excellent.
Another fabulous evening. (My brother is still raving about the goose breast). Friendly & attentive waiting staff. A great evening.
Always enjoy going. Food and drink is excellent
We had a fantastic meal on Sunday, thank you.
Fabulous Sunday lunch! We will be back! Thank you!
Love the food and drink, waitresses are very nice and helpful, chef always comes around and says hello! My favourite Sunday roast!
