About The Phoenix Inn
The Phoenix Inn is an old coaching inn, with lots of nooks and crannies, low ceilings, and uneven floors. This is part of the charm of this 17th century listed building.
Andrew and Sisi Ryder opened this charming restaurant in 2009, and in the last 7 years with the aid of Adrian Culver, head chef, and the whole team have elevated it to one of the best eateries in Hampshire.
The style of food satisfies every mood and pocket, from a fresh sandwich, or ham, egg and chips to oysters, lobster, and Chateaubriand.
Provenance and seasonality are the key elements in formulating the menu, which changes daily. The comprehensive wine list features organic and bio-dynamic, and sulphite free wines, and again is seasonally adjusted. The real ales are Cask Marque accredited and there is a good range of draught lagers, bottled beers, and spirits.
The large peaceful garden is excellent for sunny summer afternoons and the roaring fire in the winter makes The Phoenix a cosy, warm, homely place.
Should be 5 star for atmosphere but I couldn't make it work!! We had a great time with you yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. The food was very good, and I was asked to make a special comment on the cod. The best fish dish she could remember! We look forward to coming again next year, for the fourth time!
Great value set meal , just a shame no vegetarian option
Lovely Christmas lunch fo 17
Very enjoyable evening. Great menu but difficult for gluten free options. Chef prepared gluten free gravy but had to navigate menu and work out suitable dishes without any advice.
Could not fault anything. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink. Friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent and friendly staff, very accommodating.
Had a really lovely evening - roast dinner was fantastic 😁
Lovely meal as always. We have tried other Places for our Sunday roast but we still keep coming back to the Phoenix. The food is great and the staff are lovely. It is very well organized.
Thank you for a wonderful Christmas experience - Great fun was had by all - Sisi and her staff were welcoming and very accommodating, the food was delightful - presentation lovely, and extremely tasty (I hope my Christmas Dinner is as good!)
We really enjoyed everything about The Phoenix, great food, staff very helpful, the pub had a very warm ‘buzz’. We will definitely eat there again
Excellent. It was our first visit on recommendation and were not disappointed. Will certainly recommend to family and friends
Consistently good .......
Lovely pub and we had a gorgeous table with nice lighting and great service and food!
Love this place 👍
We eat here regularly. We will be back for lunch on Friday!
Lovely atmosphere, fabulous food, fine wines - what's not to like?! My first choice for a Sunday roast.
Great Sunday roast!
Always a pleasurable experience eating here. Food is always exceptionally tasty. The drinks were a little slow in arriving yesterday. Other than that I couldn’t fault it.
Always top quality food and service
Thank you for a delicious meal. Venison with blackberries and red cabbage was a brilliant combination.
I had been intending to eat here for some time but this was finally my first visit. It was well worth the wait - food & service were both excellent - & the bonus was that I broke my long aversion to Rioja!!!! Highly recommended venue.
Excellent as always
The food was plentiful and tasty but warm at best. The service was very slow even allowing for a busy pub. Probably will give it another go in the summer.
One of only the few places I would recommend
Excellent evening friendly staff wonderful food would highly recommend every time
