About The Phoenix Inn
The Phoenix Inn is an old coaching inn, with lots of nooks and crannies, low ceilings, and uneven floors. This is part of the charm of this 17th century listed building.
Andrew and Sisi Ryder opened this charming restaurant in 2009, and in the last 7 years with the aid of Adrian Culver, head chef, and the whole team have elevated it to one of the best eateries in Hampshire.
The style of food satisfies every mood and pocket, from a fresh sandwich, or ham, egg and chips to oysters, lobster, and Chateaubriand.
Provenance and seasonality are the key elements in formulating the menu, which changes daily. The comprehensive wine list features organic and bio-dynamic, and sulphite free wines, and again is seasonally adjusted. The real ales are Cask Marque accredited and there is a good range of draught lagers, bottled beers, and spirits.
The large peaceful garden is excellent for sunny summer afternoons and the roaring fire in the winter makes The Phoenix a cosy, warm, homely place.
Exemplary Cuisine, Service and Ambience! Highly recommended.
Food good as always, however service was a little slow
Excellent in every way
Great evening, lovely staff and an great pub.
The Phoenix is as good as it gets locally. The bar staff are helpful and knowledgable. If Andrew and Sisi are in, it is nearly always good. The only wrinkle is the inexperienced waiting staff in the restaurant. They are friendly and obliging but let down an otherwise great experience.
Lovely helpfull staff
Great food...table next to us we’re a bit rude but clearly not your fault. Will definately be back !
Great experience with excellent food. Atmosphere is very good, every clean and tidy. Service was good with just one minor hiccup, quickly rectified.
Lovely waiting staff who were really accommodating. This was second Sunday roast we’ve had recently and both were superb.
A great evening. Service was excellent. Food was great.....I overestimated the size of my starter....Grilled Stornaway Black Pudding, fried bread, duck egg and apple sauce.....ate the lot.....rude not to. Highly recommended.
A very friendly welcome, even though we arrived late. Prompt service with menus and drinks. Attentive waiting staff - all (apart from one young lady) were smiling and looked happy in their job. We all thought the head chef walk-about saying ‘enjoy your meal’ was a lovely touch. Food was superb, plentiful and served hot all at the same time. A very pleasant atmosphere and an un-rushed dining experience. Thank you, we will return.
as older people we appreciated the table in the "garden" room where we were able to talk quietly. Thank you
Even thou the pub was packed the food came quickly great service great food happy staff
A reliably good and popular pub/restaurant. My friends & I meet there several times a year and always enjoy the good food and friendly atmosphere.
There was a very good choice of starters, mains and sweets. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service was extremely good. We will definitely be booking again in the future.
Great food, very friendly waitresses, slow to get puddings out and no one asked if our meal was ok or if we needed anymore drinks.
Food very good but lattes not very hot. We were the first ones there so maybe coffee machine hadn’t been on for long.
We went to the Phoenix Green for a bite to eat to celebrate an Anniversary, and we weren't disappointed. Everyone we came into contact with was lovely and really helpful. Everyone couldn't do enough for us, and was really helpful when we mentioned my husband had a allergy to lactose. The meal was so lovely, we booked another table to go back whilst there. If you want a lovely meal in a relaxed and welcoming setting, then the Phoenix Green is the place to go. Enjoy if you do !
One starter didn't come and when produced had toast. Client had coeliac disease this had been flagged beforehand and that eve. Toast was just removed which is not acceptable as crumbs were likely to be on the dish. It would be helpful to mark the menu with dishes that are gluten free as staff including chef were not sure e.g. Burger
Love this place, Landlord (chef) & landlady are friendly & fun hosts, lovely traditional feel to the place, food is excellent with menu to suit all. Thursday night is steak night, great value deals inc wine!!
We are indeed serial returners to this lovely place. Fantastic Sunday Roast.
The best Sunday roast I’ve had in ages with a great selection of piping hot vegetables. Thoroughly recommended. Good value wine list as well.
We absolutely love it here
Lovely atmosphere, really welcoming and attentive staff and delicious food. Especially liked the Yorkshire puddings! The pork was quite fatty, and subsequently quite a lot was left, but on the whole, a really lovely meal, and a wonderful experience. Thank you, we will return!
