About The Pelham Arms
The Pelham Arms is a traditional British public house situated at the top of Lewes High Street, serving local and seasonal food with a relaxed friendly service in charming surroundings. Built circa 1640, this quintessential Sussex pub has original oak beams, an inglenook fireplace, courtyard garden and is full of age-old charm. All the food is freshly prepared on the premises and are committed to using local ingredients wherever possible. They’re famous for their “big & messy” burgers, a dedicated section on the menu to plant base plates for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free lovers and their homemade puddings. The Pelham Arms take their real ale very seriously, and because of this your pint will always be top notch. The Pelham Arms are proud to be the only pub in Lewes serving fine ales from the Badger brewery. The pub is also the birthplace of the first craft beer brewery in Lewes “Abyss Brewing” which was created in the depth of the cellar by the landlord. The wines have been carefully selected and include local award-winning wine & sparkling wines. There is also an excellent range of local organic juices and botanically brewed soft drinks.
This is our favourite pub, drinks, food and service is always amazing. Couldn't recommend it highly enough
Super evening. Staff very friendly and efficient. Always available when needed. Great burgers.
Atmosphere only down due to circumstances (masks etc) but overall in the 2.5 months since moving to Lewes we have had many great takeaways and now meals outside the Pelham Arms. The menu is imaginative and service is always prompt and friendly and I look forward to more visits.
Cracking food and drink! Service was spot on and it’s so good to be back in the pub! Definitely coming back soon!
Great pub with very friendly staff. If you love burgers this is the place to come!
Possibly the best veggie burgers we have ever eaten! We booked to sit outside for a late lunch on a wet and windy Saturday, so that may explain the atmosphere rating. I know that inside the atmosphere is lovely.
Had a lovely day despite showers. Thank you to all staff at Pelham Arms.
Everyone was so friendly when we visited, catering to our every need and even organised a taxi for us to get home. Food was great also.
Frickles! Genius. Great food, great Abyss beer, nice wine list. And it didn’t rain. Great time, as always
First ever visit. Lovely staff and good food
Great food, great staff
The best burgers in Lewes, no contest. Deep fried pickles were amazing
Really enjoyed lunch, very friendly, thanks
Really lovely team, very warm and friendly - great burgers.
It was great to be back. Unfortunately it was just too cold for us to stay after we had eaten so we had to cut out visit short. Some kind of outdoor heating works be a massive bonus!
Great beer, great burgers, great staff!
Wonderful grub, awesome staff, best pint of Guinness ive had in a very long time! very much looking forwards to the full menu but I never tire of that spicy bean burger! Kimchi burger was also extremely delicious! Xx
Thank you so much for having us back 😘 Lynda
Absolutely fantastic return to the Pelham Arms. Amazing food and brilliant service by the brilliant staff. Thank you.
Wonderful as usual. Staff always welcoming and friendly and food is delicious. Definitely the best burgers in Lewes. Highly recommend.
Superb service and food as always
I believe it is rare to find a place where you can enjoy yourself whether its for a quick drink, a small bite to eat or to while away a long lazy time with good company. The Pelham Arms is one of those rare places. This is my second visit and on each occasion everything, just everything is enjoyable, fun and relaxing. Long may you be around and I hope you can work your way through these very trying times for your industry.
We LOVED the old menu with a cauliflower popers and steak with the salsa Verde (or something like that) but this time there was very little that we would like. The Katsu broccoli was quite squidy and not as nice as the cauliflower poppers. The pork burger was very dry and mainly just crispy pork, no nice juicy bits. Fish and chips was good though. The staff are always so friendly and nice even though it must be such a stressful time they still managed to seem happy and upbeat. Looking forward to coming back when things are more normal and hopefully there's more we like on the menu.
Great food, fantastic service and lovely ambiance. If I had one suggestion for improvement: stock a local bitter on handpull.
Gave the children free onion rings!
