Lovely food and quick service, brilliant customer service especially Andrea in the restaurant she made us feel very welcome and was so helpful and kind
Marked down on atmosphere purely because of Covid restrictions beyond your control. Good meals and hearty breakfasts for our party of 8 during 2 night stay 18th - 19th October
The booking system needs to change, you can’t take bookings knowing that a round takes 5hrs with only 4.5 hrs of daylight left, you have to have a cut off point, so the 18th of October should be 2pm. You lose half an hour every week.
Very enjoyable stay, golf course was fantastic, food good and very nice rooms.
It’s a lovely hotel and the staff are very personable and friendly. The fundamental flaw is that we waited around 30 minutes after entering the bar to be served. We then waited around a further 30 minutes for the drinks to be brought over. We then ordered another round of drinks immediately upon receipt of the previous order, in expectation that we may get them before we actually finished our current drink. We didn’t. We waited another 30 minutes or so without any drinks. We then had to cancel the order as we had a restaurant reservation. The bar staff advised they would bring the drinks order down to our table. We arrived at the table 15 minutes later, no drinks present. We asked about the drinks 10 minutes after seating and they had no recollection of the drinks and asked us to order at the bar again. When we finally complained to a member of staff (and a somewhat unconcerned Manager) we ordered 4 drinks each and bottles of wine to be brought at the same time, as our only course of action to avoid a one hour service delay between drinks. It is important to note that the individuals who served us, such as Kate and James, were delightful, apologetic, friendly and engaging people. It is just that there must either be a problem with staff training, processes around ordering and serving, poor equipment, total lack of motivation in the team, or similar - certainly the Manager was the least engaging person we encountered. In summary, good food, acceptable pricing, lovely staff in an ok, if rather dull and uninspiring atmosphere (pictures on the wall, background music?) but simply the worst service at fulfilling orders in any hotel I have ever stayed at. I’ve stayed at a lot. Thanks.
Excellent venue, great venue with great views and scenery. Staff were very polite and friendly. clean rooms, food was of excellent quality well presented. Only negative point was short of staffing in the bar due to covid-19 restrictions thus atmosphere was low. Great value for money would definitely come again.
Course was lovely but we found the hotel didn’t have much of an atmosphere, but then again it was a Monday. All round good experience though
I have only marked the atmosphere at 3 star due to the Covid restrictions, normally everything is five star at The Oxfordshire.
Absolutely disappointed had the afternoon all planed only to receive an late email stating no lunches are available????
Thoroughly dissapointing. On our first night we had opted to dine in the Main Restaurant having pre booked a table to eat from the a la carte menu. As a group we had really wanted to stay in house and dine with a few drinks. When we arrived at the ’restaurant’ the lead server had asked if we were ‘Dinner Inclusive’. There were only two diners in the restaurant and we were then told that they could accommodate us if we ‘really wanted’ but were led back to the bar as it really did seem a tall ask. It was upsetting as we had booked in advance, dressed for fine dining; ultimately we ended up dining out on the terrace with smokers in the cold. I see that there have been some updates on your website that were not there previously. Whilst this is great for future customers this is of little consolation for us given that we were left underwhelmed with our stay. Whilst we understand the implications and impacts of covid on business as normal, Covid is not an excuse for the shoddy communication, product, and service that we received.
Dinner was good but there was no choice at it was pre-set. There was no fine dining atmosphere as it was just like eating on a hall. People were loud.. During breakfast we were served with food with no cutlery. Everyone have been given except us..No staff ever bothered to offer us one..
We had a wonderful nights stay, spent time in the spa & had relaxing treatments. We will definitely be looking to return
Lovely venue. Friendly staff. Tasty food
Thank you to all those that served us and made the evening so relaxing and enjoyable, we couldn’t have ask for better service - such a great team! We felt very special, the food was incredible, every meal came out on time together for a large party of 9 all we’re hot and all was very exquisite in taste! Couldn’t fault the food & service. Thank you all for your incredible hospitality
good service good staff would come back again photo taken yesterday is my new phone screensaver
Fantastic service, Friendly and welcoming staff nothing was to much to ask. Enjoyable experience, and would highly recommend.
Was pleased with the room on first sight. We both had a treatment which was lovely but no advice given when I asked about a particular skin problem. No communication from both beauticians before or after. Having to have a shower back at room due to lots of oil left in my hair from having a facial, to find no hot water in shower. Leaving my hair in a right state, to be fair it was dealt with quickly, i.e. given another room, to which we had to quickly pack up everything to go to new room upstairs dragging luggage to find a shower that did have hot water. The restraunt was absolutely beautiful, very accommodating in all areas and made my daughter feel very special with a lovely birthday dessert.
My golf / spa break was a perfect birthday present. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my visit. Regular club members were very friendly and welcoming to a visitor.
Whilst in the spa we were told to help ourselves to tea and coffee, however there was no tea available all day. The massage was nice but it would have been more relaxing to have music and not be able to hear staff radios bleeping outside the door (I imagine it was maintenance staff) Afternoon tea was delicious!
Golf course was the star of the show. Stay well clear of the restautant as based on our Friday night experiance they dont have an actual chef, just a short order cook. The restaurant was soulless, no table cloths, bright lighting, not even a candle in sight. Staff lovely though. I doubt they have a food and beverages manager but if they do then the person needs to go to other hotels and restaurants and learn how to do their job properly.
Lovely suit Lovely meal Very helpful & friendly
