About The Ox Clifton
Here at The Ox Clifton, we believe in creating exceptional food using local, seasonal produce which has been cooked to perfection by our expert chefs. And whilst steak & cocktails are at the heart of everything we do, there’s a vast range of stunning small plates, classic charcuterie, superb sides and of course, delectable desserts on offer. And whilst we’re not ones to brag, word on the street is our Sunday Roast is one of the best in Bristol! Until the end of the Summer we will be serving BRUNCH on Sundays instead of our Sunday Roast.
Great restaurant with lovely staff.
Great service. Pre-booked for a work lunch and exceeded all our expectations.
Excellent steak Beef dripping popcorn delicious
Lunch deal is excellent and the mackerel and hake was fantastic .
As good as ever.
Felt it was very overpriced for the actual quality of food. Had to remind staff many times about certain things and constantly had to ask for drinks and to clear some empty glasses just not what I would expect when you are expected to pay the amount of money we did!
Had Sunday lunch - which was really nice but meat sliced wafer thin and not pink - only one carrot ! It was lovely but two at least please - also need a couple more roast potatoes - I would be happier to pay the price if I left more fully satisfied - please slice the beef thicker ( even if that means fewer ) it was so thin ! And more potatoes and carrots - would cost pennies and make it much better value
Great service and food as always
The sirloin steaks we ordered were appalling. The chef apologised and their value £31 each was deducted from the bill. The starters and drinks were nice but the bad main course ruined the meal and frankly, the evening. The staff were very good as was the service but we won’t be going back . There are better steak restaurants in Bristol.
Very nice meal with good service and atmosphere.
We went at a lunchtime which is obviously quiet so hard to comment on atmosphere. Food quite pricey but excellent quality.
Not enough of the skin on my pork had crackled but other than that, my meal was excellent. I'm intrigued by the pricing structure; £18 for 1 course, £21 for 2 courses and £25 for 3. Is making the third course more expensive than the second a disincentive for over-eaters?
Delicious full english for brunch on a late Saturday morning. We arrived shortly after opening and were warmly greeted and seen to our table. The decor in the restaurant is lovely and overall it is very atmospheric, my only note would be that the music (although good) was a little too loud. The food was absolutely delicious and the chef accomodated my gluten free (coeliac) requirements very well. Again, only an observation, but I would have liked my bacon crispier than it came (but I could have asked for this on ordering!). The coffee was great too. Overall very good value and delicious food, with attentive service.
Really enjoyable Sunday lunch excellent food and drinks really good staff
One of the slowest meals ever. Our order was obviously forgotten about so wait well over an hour between starter and main course. Then when the mains came the chips were hard and undercooked and the there was an issue with the pepper corn sauce. One pot had about 10 peppercorns and was nice and normal tasting the other pot must have been from the bottom of the barrel had around 200+ peppercorns and virtually no sauce. The steak was tasty and well cooked when we eventually got it so I imagine if the service was improved then the dining experience could be great.
An enjoyable meal very pleasantly served. In my opinion the chips would have benefited from being crunchier.
We came here for a special birthday and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicous. Some items are rather pricey but we stuck to the early bird and enjoyed some extras. The side extras were well proportioned and could be shared by a few people. We brought our children woth us and delighted to see a kids menu. They loved the food and the quality was till fantastic. Every part of the venue had been well considered even down to the toilets. Will be going again, but it is a little expensive for a frequent visit.
Was quite quiet for a Saturday evening. Steak was heavily seasoned with pepper - not to my wife's taste. Quite pricey.
Grand food and atmosphere, we can only afford to come when you have the 40% offers on food. Let us know when that is next happening and we'll be there like a shot.
Nice setting but most importantly the food ! Meat was amazing and all dishes ordered had lots of flavour. Highly recommend and will be back for some more !
Mediocre steaks at best. Over priced. Better steaks at Tesco. Nice place and service was attentful.
I popped in for lunch on the last day of the 40% off promotion. The service was ok, the food was fine but i did object to the service charge being automatically added to the bill. It was also for the full amount, not the discounted amount. Which actually annoyed me a bit if im honest. i dont like automatic tipping anyway, so when im asked to pay a tip for the ful amount, not the discounted amount. i get quite annoyed.
Food was excellent and 40% off offer made it even more enjoyable! Lovely restaurant. We will return.
