About The Olive Branch
The Good Pub Guide 2014 - Pub of the Year
Our entry in the 2014 Guide says: “The civilised Olive Branch prompts readers to superlatives: ‘service as good as it gets’; ‘sublime food’; ‘how have they managed to maintain such consistently high standards?’; ‘the ultimate pub experience’. It’s a first class all-rounder.”
Almost perfect, we just found the chairs a little uncomfortable, but everything else was excellent, looking forward to our next visit
Thank you, we had a most enjoyable evening, the food was most delicious, the staff were perfect as was the very unpretentious atmosphere, perfect balance.
As friendly and efficient as ever....and great food and atmosphere! And they remembered one comment made at time of booking that it was our anniversary - presented us with plate of petit fours and Happy Anniversary in chocolate around the rim! Impressed
Lovely location,totally enjoyed experience,thank you.
Most enjoyable stay food and service excellent.
Excellent food and drink as always, but enhanced in the glorious sunshine... ...just wish there was a larger car park !
Absolutely excellent meal and stay. Never had anything other at the OB.
Great all round.
From the moment we received a personal letter of welcome from the owners we knew that this was a place that prided itself on attention to detail and knew how to make its guests feel valued. The food was outstandingly good and presented with real care by attentive, friendly staff. The dining rooms have a delightfully informal and intimate atmosphere - all the ingredients for a memorable evening. The adjoining Beech House accommodation is excellent, too - definitely worth treating yourself and staying over in this lovely corner of England.
Excellent food and service. Was our 1st visit but we'll definitely be back
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening thank you
I go from Ipswich to Nottingham quite often and always stop for lunch at The Olive Branch. It’s my favourite place to eat and the drinks are also excellent. The Beech House is also a lovely place to stay. Keep up the good work!
We had a lovely meal and the food and service was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
Delicious food, very accommodating for my food intolerances , with so much choice! We will be back! Thank you.
Enjoyed every minute of our lunch here. Great food.
We were absolutely delighted with our experience! in particular, your approach to allowing dogs into both your bedrooms over at Beech House and into the pub for meals was definitely the MOST doggy friendly we have ever encountered. Without exception, your staff went beyond expectations - the service was spot on, the food delicious and everyone greeted the dog and were mindful of his needs and space. Finally - the laminated dog walk map was a great idea ! We will be back!
Excellent flavours from start to finish. Beautifully cooked and beautifully presented food.
Great service, food and drink from start to finish. We will be back.
I attended the Masterclass in the morning which was brilliant, I learnt so much. Followed by lunch which was superb. This was my second visit for lunch and it certainly will not be my last, the food is good quality and the staff very friendly.
This wS the first time websd tried the “lunch for less”menu It was really excellent as well as being extremely good value A really sensational meal We will be back VERY well done to ALL the team!
Excellent welcome, food, service and atmosphere. Very friendly staff and were good accommodating a baby, A lovely lunch for a birthday celebration.
Always friendly and food top quality and freshly made
Food was incredible! Had the haddock and bream dishes. Love the sharing board and warm piece of bread to start. Peach Melba Eton mess, wasn’t enough meringue and seemed slightly less special compared to the outstanding mains. We had 3 different people serve us which made it slightly more in personal and less likely to tip as 2 of the 3 were great but 1 of the waiters approach was very timid and came across awkward at times. Would prefer to have our own allocates waiter/waitress to serve the entire meal. The terracotta walls are abit dated, decor could do with brightening up. Curtains were drawn closed too when we came and it was still day light, not sure why?
Very helpful staff and really interesting food and drink
