About The Old Queens Head
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that’s full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces.
All are welcome in our bar area – even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch…)
We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months – and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play.
Our first visit in years as disappointed when we last there. Recently heard a lot of good reports so decided to give it a try. Went yesterday, Wine Wednesday, so took our own wine. Food was very good as well as presentation. Only one other couple there. Will definitely be returning soon.
Can thoroughly recommend the food, diverse menu, and helpful and friendly staff.
A lovely experience for myself and my wife, will definitely come back.
One of our party was coeliac so your extensive gluten free menu was a particular attraction. I booked Sunday lunch on line so our first experience was to be greeted at the bar on arrival. Everyone was friendly and professional which made a great first impression. The food was exceptional. We all had different main courses which were perfectly cooked and arrived together. Our only regret was that none of us lives near the Old Queens Head as we were visiting a nearby National Trust property as a central meeting point (one couple live in Oxfordshire and the other in Surrey). This means we can’t become regular diners 🙁 Keep up the good work.
A great venue. Fab food, fab service, great pub!
Fabulous lunch for 8. All the staff were excellent & very accommodating especially as we were a little late and arrived with an additional couple in our party. Thank you so much for looking after us so well. Highly recommend.
Food and service good as always. Bit disappointed we couldn’t have a table on ground floor as my husband is disabled and my sister is recovering from a broken ankle.i did ask when booking but did not happen.
Warm and cosy atmosphere on a cold wet night. Cheerful and willing service. Good quality food, nicely presented and good value for money. Recommended!
OQH is always a solid choice for food and drink.
Food is always delicious, but service is so very slow - waited for over an hour to receive our food last night and even our waitress seemed embarrassed. Any chance you can improve on this - it is not the first time it has happened to us.
Lovely meal and really like the OQH - only comment o would make are some of the portions are small - especially when served on large plates!
Food and wine we're excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch
Turned out to be quiet expensive for a bar meal and a couple of beers.£50.00 a head?
The chefs really care about the presentation, style and quality of the food. Beautifully done. I don’t think the front of house people care so much. The service was efficient but not exactly warm.
We enjoyed our meal on Saturday night, the lamb rump was very tasty and well accompanied by a selection of fresh vegetable side dishes. My chocolate fondant desert oozed out once broken into and was nearly as delicious as the lamb. Thoroughly enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner.
Delicious food & great service
First visit but really enjoyed Sunday lunch. Good food, very good service and spacious dining area. A very enjoyable dining experience. We will return.
Good food and service. Always enjoy the ‘Perk up’ coffee. Sadly the coffee arrived and we had to wait a long time for the mini dessert, but we did get another cup of coffee to drink with the chocolate mousse which was lovely. It was pretty busy and when we arrived downstairs was heaving with a Christening Party so I expect the staff had been very busy.
Excellent food and service, staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, all-round excellent pub.
First time at this pub. Food is restaurant standard and therefore commands restaurant prices. Friday night so busy and somewhat noisy but overall a very enjoyable experience.
Superb menu - but they had run out of several items when we went. And, being a busy Sunday, service was slower (maybe) than usual. But a most enjoyable visit.
Really pleased with the welcoming staff, food and service. Well done
Our waiter was brilliant as were all our selected dishes. Scrumptious!
Very warm welcome and attentive service, coupled with great food in an attractive and cosy setting, made for a thoroughly enjoyable autumnal pub lunch. Thank you!
Lovely restaurant and nice atmosphere, however service was quite slow and one member of staff was not very friendly/ cheery and felt as though everything we asked was a chore.
