About The Old Queens Head
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that’s full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces.
All are welcome in our bar area – even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch…)
We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months – and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play.
We went with a party of 8. The service and the food was excellent, we will be definitely returning!
As always, a wonderful experience. Great food and service.
We had a lovely meal in a cosy section of the dining room. We received a warm welcome and good service. Very good value for money.
Nice and large pub and dining space with good atmosphere and excellent food. Will be returning
Fabulous as always
Several disappointing aspects to what was intended as a birthday celebration. You don't appear to know how to keep real ales: IPA was cloudy -an indicator of unclean pipes and I speak as a retired brewer. Meal choices very limited , my pregnant vegetarian daughter had only one choice. No vegetables included with dishes and only one available to buy (At £4) was Kale, waitress confirmed no other vegetables available - really???
Lovely pub and the food was very good. . It was a busy night and I felt there could have been some more staff on hand. We had to look around a few times to get attention. The Christmas menu is great and I had the guinea fowl, which was delicious. I had the cheese for my pudding option, which was disappointing. All of the cheese had just come out of the fridge and was freezing cold and therefore quite tasteless. A real shame as after it had warmed up the cheese was good, but I had to wait half an hour before I could eat it.
We went to the Old Queens Head and ordered Sunday lunch. When our food arrived the presentation was poor and the veg was practically non existent. It seemed as though the kitchen were running low on supplies! It would have been helpful if we were told so we could have ordered something else. For the price we felt completely ripped off. It was meant to be a birthday treat for my fiance so a bit disappointing all round. I emailed to politely complain but they didn't have the courtesy to reply. Such a shame as their waiting staff are fantastic.
Our whole group had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It wasn't just the food that was good, but the quality of service from the young people responsible, was excellent. The whole event turned out really well and even the most discerning person (and there was one!), had nothing to complain about!
Warm and welcoming, with great choice of food, excellent quality and presentation, and charming service. Thank you
We had booked for a celebration of our anniversary and our table was plonked in the middle of the area next to a (Christmas!) party of 21. The atmosphere was noisy and the family were stood right next to our table for the first half an hour. The roast dinner was mediocre, Yorkshire pudding was flat and stodgy, and the roast potatoes were soft instead of crispy. All a bit damp. The waiter could see that we were unhappy with our table, and didn’t suggest that we could move until we had finished our main courses, bit late. We normally rave about the queens head but on this occasion I left frustrated and like we wasted our money.
My wife's birthday dinner on 1 Dec was a very good experance for all .Age range 3 to15 children ,40 to 75 adults. Service and Food was of a high standard all received starter mains together with 10 covers I was impressed . The only down side was the pre ordering menue on web site not the same as pub web site and no children's menue . Six phone calls and ten EM to get meal sorted but I would go again . Chris R
Always perfect... my favourite pub in the area
Food was lovely; although one of the Shepherds Pies was a little overdone on the top (still tasted great underneath though!). The service was good but it did take a while to place our food order. To be fair it was extremely busy but I was conscious of the time we had to vacate the table for your next guests arriving. Waiters where very friendly and very accommodating. Overall a lovely evening with good food.
We came to celebrate our daughters birthday, a group of 5. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The beetroot carpaccio with goats cheese mousse was divine! Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was fabulous and they were very happy for us to bring our own birthday cake. Would highly recommend for any occasion. Look forward to going back soon.
Great service, excellent food, really enjoyed our evening
This is our first visit to The Old QUeens Head in a long time. We had a fabulous evening, the food was excellent, the service excellent, the ambience excellent we will definitely be back very soon thank you
We had a very good evening - it was a group booking for 17 of us. I liked the on-line pre-ordering menu choices system which made it very easy for organising the event for a large number of people. Very good service, lovely food and very good value as we benefitted from their early-bird and quick-off the mark special deals. Highly recommend.
Another brilliant meal and top quality service. Will be back!
Excellent evening, great service, super friendly staff and just a lovely chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Top pub.
Unfortunately my main course fish was not cooked and had to be sent back. This is the first time I have experienced any problem and it was dealt with efficiently and courteously by the staff who promptly took it off the bill. Starters and desserts were delicious as usual. Service was exemplary.
There is absolutely nothing bad to say!😁👍
The roast dinner was very disappointing. ‘All the trimmings’ was three undercooked potatoes and some green veg. No parsnips, no carrots or cauliflower cheese. For the price - over £15 - a real disappointment. Our waiter was great though.
I had Revioli-Big Plate(Veg) taste and presentation was good, but unfortunately won't visit again, because we were expecting big plate will be for sharing/enough for an adult and have good quantity on BIG PLATE menue, believe me it had just 5 Revioli ! not even enough for 10 year old child! annd you charged £14.50 for that.
Many thanks for a wonderful evening. Your staff are a credit to you, being so friendly and welcoming.
