About The Old Queens Head
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that’s full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces.
All are welcome in our bar area – even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch…)
We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months – and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play.
we had such a lovely lunch - all 3 courses amazing the service was excellent and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.
excellent all round
Excellent meal thanks.
Had a lovely lunch. The menu has such lovely dishes and excellent wine selection, it's hard to choose but never disappointed with our selection. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
A first class meal served by very welcoming and friendly staff. We will be back for more.
It's only my second visit, but I always have a fabulous meal! This time we were sat upstairs and we had a young man as our waiter (sorry don't know his name), but he was very good! He was on top of everything and was really nice to talk to! The food was of course amazing, well done!
Great service even though it was a very busy Saturday evening. Good selection of food including specials menu. It’s been a while since we last visited but will definitively be back!
Food was of very good quality but rather overpriced for what you get to be honest. Paying another £4 for a small dish of one veg is really unacceptable however you dress it up! Service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere warm and happy.
Very helpful staff and very welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Food was good. I will be meeting friends here again.
Great food, great service
Excellent service and good food. Often come here with friends.
The service was slow, we were there 2.5 hours and only had mains and a few desserts. The food was not hot. The waiter did not ask if our food was ok and when I explained at the end of the meal that it was not up to standard he said he would let the chef know and that the food ‘suffers’ by the end of the day.... we had no money deducted from our bill or any offer for compensation of any description. Quite dissapointed as it was a celebration meal. We had to go up to the bar and pay the bill as nobody was around, and when I explained the above the barman agreed with me about the roast dinners as he had just eaten one! That just shows that your own staff do not have confidence in the food!
Lovely pub and setting. Staff were friendly but a little slow. We ordered 2 sunday roasts. The yorkshire puddings were like a wafer that crumbled apart when you tried to eat it, the beef was fatty and the roast potatoes were chewy and didn’t taste freshly made. Also, one of us had been given mange tout but it had been left off the other plate for some reason! All in all, a very lovely place but a very disappointing roast dinner. :(
Delicious food. Great service. Onion and cider soup a highlight.
Great staff - really friendly, "on the ball" but relaxed. Fantastic menu with some great options. Decent wine list...and they serve Harrow and Hope fizz too!
Food is lovely - fresh and high quality. The homemade ice cream is to die for. The duck was a bit under cooked for my dad but I gave him the option to send it back to cook it further which he refused and ate it all. I have recently discovered this pub due to a friend and it is great for something a bit over the ordinary and will become a regular. Nothing was too much trouble.
The service was most attentive and very good. The food was excellent. Very tasty and well presented. Lovely evening.
We had a great time. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Enjoyable evening, lovely food and great service in a really nice setting. We will be back.
Lovely evening celebrating my Dads 87th Birthday. Food and atmosphere wonderful.
Food really was disappointing. Burger was over cooked. (We asked for it medium rare and it came medium ). But it was also tasteless, we had to add loads of salt just to get some flavor. The lamb breast Greek salad was also dry and tasteless. It came with no sauce. I was expecting a tatziki side or something/ anything. We had been recommended this pub. Needless to say we will not be recommending it. Not returning
Food was delicious ! One of the nicest pub lunches i have had. Service was great too the girls were super kind and had great humour. Will definitely be coming back! LOVE
Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, generally service was excellent especially as we had child with allergies. Our only disappointment was that we ordered a side of cauliflower cheese but it didn't arrive with our main course, we asked about it and were told it would be with us shortly. We asked a 2nd & 3rd time and same answer, we stopped eating but it didn't show up so we ate our meal so it didn't get cold, eventually it did turn up but it was too late. Fortunately you took it back and didn't charge us.
Food was delicious, good selection of drinks and the service was outstanding, we were really looked after. The only comment is that the selection of puddings was not great; don’t really like nuts in my puddings and I don’t like whiskey, so the only option was the chocolate fondant which was tasty.
Again up to scratch!! Never fails!!
