About The Old Queens Head
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that’s full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces.
All are welcome in our bar area – even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch…)
We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months – and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play.
We had a very noisy table next to us otherwise the atmosphere would have been more stars.
The young man that served us was very polite, very amiable. Attentive without being intrusive. Very pleasant.
Friendly and helpful staff. Coped with all our issues. I liked the pre-order system
Evcellent Meal, great service
Waited a bit for the crumble but when it came it was freshly cooked and delicious.
The great menu choice makes me want to come back to the OQH. Great service and the requested quieter area in the mezzanine restaurant area made it especially enjoyable for our party of four.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was delivered quickly, was beautifully displayed, very tasty and good value. My husband had 3 smaller plates instead of a starter and main and said there were several more he would have liked to have tried. We will definitely be coming back
Service was very quick only one comment broccoli was hard
We were a large party spending Christmas Day with you and unfortunately we were all disappointed. This was our second year having Christmas dinner at the OQH and the standard was not the same. The food was ok but definitely not worth £97 a head, having to take cheese home was also a disappointment and very unusual. We felt rushed and the atmosphere was not like it was previous years. Previous years we were able to have drinks at the bar before and after the meal, this year we were rushed straight to our seats and the bar closed whilst we were still finishing our meals. Also left without being given our cheeses to take home so had to return to collect those ( these were also a disappointment and very dry with just a small bunch of grapes and crackers to have with them). We were not asked if we wanted more drinks throughout the meal, we had to keep asking. Overall everyone left feeling slight underwhelmed and we won’t be returning again for Christmas Day which is a shame as we are as all local.
Delicious food! Went for a Sunday Roast and could not fault it. One of the best roasts I've had when dining out for a very long time!
Waited so long for our food that by the time it came, we just wolfed it down and left, not enjoying the experience. I felt fractious and irritated waiting and although I didn’t want to feel like that, it didn’t make for a pleasant Sunday lunch. Staff apologised but still presented the whole bill. To top it off, we were absolutely frozen. I had my coat on, but I was literally shivering. The food was an average Sunday lunch tbh and my daughter’s sausages were burnt. I hate writing bad reviews but it was my husband’s birthday lunch and it just wasn’t enjoyable as an experience.
Very friendly place, welcomes dogs and the food is excellent.
Great service and food as always. Dog friendly too
The staff are so friendly, there’s a great selection on all menus ,even the children’s menus have something for fussy eaters, the prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food remains high. They’re a dog friendly place and I definitely would recommend the OQH
Excellent as always
The service was second to none. The food was delicious. Some dishes on the pricey side but the flavour and presentation made up for this
Very disappointed with service, the wait staff were good but it was an hour & a half wait for our first course, which is very poor.
Amazing, we went for dinner on Christmas Eve so it was busy but the service was still amazing.
A wonderful Christmas lunch with top class service and lots of smiles!
Fantastic service on arrival to our Christmas Eve restaurant reservation. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, and the bar area was jam packed. However, the lady who greeted us at the restaurant went and got our drinks for us to save us queuing at the bar. Just fantastic service all evening. Staff were always attentive and friendly.
Our annual Christmas get together on Saturday - excellent food, great service and a lovely atmosphere
Absolutely perfect dining experience as always, gorgeous food, great service, couldn`t fault it. The staff handled all requests professionally and quickly, and with a smile which is great to see. A very busy night too so it says a lot when the standards don`t slip when the pub was packed.
The evening was most enjoyable. The food and wine delicious . The staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely relaxing start before Christmas . Many thanks’ Old Queens Head ‘ Christine
Food was lovely. At the more expensive end of the market.
It was evident that the main chef was occupied preparing the Christmas lunch and our food was prepared by a junior member of the team. Cold burger undercooked sausages and chips along with a burst fried egg were truly awful
