About The Old Queens Head
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that’s full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces.
All are welcome in our bar area – even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch…)
We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months – and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play.
Ate here on Easter Sunday. The service was excellent especially since we were a large party of adults and young children. Ordering was quick and efficient and very good food arrived promptly. Servers were polite and friendly and many thanks for their excellent help. Would definitely return
The service was very slow and not very friendly
Very much enjoyed our risotto and sausages (not on the same plate!!) and the service was lovely, friendly and welcoming, if a little over-zealous at times!!! Very reasonably priced for the quality and the location is great.
Had mentioned it was my guests birthday but nothing was done for her. The pub was not overly busy so I was a little disappointed, other than that we had a lovely lunch.
The service was appalling. Grumpy rude staff.
Service was good but could have been more friendly at the table. Food, beer and wine all very good but not cheap. Ambience excellent. Disappointed to not be thanked for leaving a £14 tip.
Thank you. Food prepared was for a Wake. Very good portions and lovely food.
Came with my elderly parents and we had a fab time! Food great as always.
Unfortunately we had a very disappointing meal. The food was bland, the lamb overcooked, and whilst they tried to provide good service, there was clearly not enough people working, hence the service ended up being slow. In the end we left without having desserts. It is a shame, because last year we had a very nice meal, however, we will not be coming back again.
The trout starter was very average. The main dish pie course has very little fish in it and the carbonara pasta was tasteless. A disappointment as we had guests for Oz [email protected]
Waiting staff appeared to not be able to cope with the volume of guests and service was slow. Food average but £8.80 for two draught cokes really is a tad shocking.
After our lunch yesterday, spoke to the manager about the bad service and sub standard food. Salmon and tofu dishes were so basic. Kids meal, tasteless. Bangers and mash were good. 3rd time we have had a bad experience on a Sunday lunchtime. Shame... Most of all, the waitress was completely uninterested and seemed to be bored and having a bad day, couldn’t smile even when we asked how she was despite waiting unreasonable length of time at every stage of ordering to over 1 hour for our meal.
Oh for the love of Lambs Liver and Seafood tagliatelle! Superb dishes our favourites. Shame the Lambs Liver is not going to be on the new menu but fingers crossed something just as tasty replaces it. See you soon and thanks for a pleasant evening. Cliff
Not brilliant I'm afraid. My steak was cold, as was the sauce, the mushroom was burnt to a crisp. My wife had a tiny portion of duck and a ridiculous portion of potato.
It was absolutely freezing! None of the staff looked very happy so I assume the management are not doing a good job. Service was good despite this.
Ours was a booking for 14 for a family event. Everything about our meal was lovely. Food and service were excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating. We liked being in the upper level area as there were a lot of us. The online pre-order booking system made organising everyone really simple. Thank you.
Lovely meal on Friday night. The Pigeon Wellington was delicious.
Lovely dinner in good company
We booked the resturant thinking that we would be upstairs, instead we were in the snug which was really noisy. We were very dissapointed as we had brought our sister and brother in law as a 70 birthday treat. When booking the resturant you need to tell people if they are not upstairs.
Enjoyable food as always.
Yet another super meal and drink at the OQH. For the first time in a month I managed to chose the Sole rather than my usual Lambs Liver. It was thoroughly enjoyable. However, I can already predict the Lambs Liver will be difficult to not chose it next time, but hey it is a delicious dish. Thanks for a lovely evening See you soon Cliff
Great service and a lovely meal. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Another excellent evening spent I a lovely warm homely pub with good service and eating delicious food! Thank you
This is a lovely pub; a favourite option for a treat. Although this time we weren’t so pleased: the service was very friendly and helpful, but the roast pork was so fatty that I left feeling hungry. When we said this to the staff they brought another slice of pork out, but as three of us had pork that didn’t go very far to making up for it! We ordered puddings and waited 20 mins for them, only to be reminded that we had to give up the table shortly. We happily moved to the bar but felt it wasn’t quite the usual Queens Head treat.
