Over priced for what you get food very poor
Great Beef Sunday roast, lots of (good quality) meat and the cheese parsnips were an unexpected hit. Atmosphere outside was nice and relaxed and service was prompt. And for those who dont like roasts there was plenty of other choice. Initially seemed a little expensive for a roast but definitely worth it.
Atmosphere was a bit tense when we arrived, we felt ignored, then we were seated but nobody asked if we would like drinks - we could see there was a shortage of staff which seemed a bit odd on a Friday evening. However, once we got underway, the tension lifted, the service was fine, and everybody agreed the food was excellent. Well redeemed Narrow Boat !
Conservatory dinning room a bit tired and needs refreshing and floor covering needs more practical easy clean wood type flooring.
Glad we decided to visit after a number of years, really lovely time, food excellent, staff nice and service great. What else could you want? Oh yes, great weather and views of the cut.
Lovely setting, then rooms were very clean . The staff were polite and pleasant and food really nice.
Firstly, I made 3 attempts to book on the phone. There was no response. Staff were not welcoming. Poor choice of beer. The ploughman’s was basically 3 bits of bread, chunks of ham, scotch egg, a very small pot of pickle & a gerkhin. It was very dry. The spitroast chicken was just ok. Nobody checked on us once the food was served. Won’t be rushing back.
We sat in the conservatory on a busy day The outside area was very busy which meant that customers in thia area tend to have been forgotton about Delays in being served Good food though
We had a family Sunday lunch for 12 people. We were seated in the conservatory which was very nice, the service was really good and the food presentation was also very good and we all agreed the quality was excellent, what more can I say.
Nice location. Really excellent food for the money, I've paid much more in starred restaurants in the past and the food hasn't been so tasty. My only gripe is that the selection of beers is very poor. As is typical these days, a pub or restaurant advertises "cask ales" or "real ales" to attract customers but when you arrive there are ten different sorts of lager and one or two ales of varying quality. With the popularity of craft/real/cask ales these days and the plethora of beer festivals everywhere it is clear they are in demand. Why haven't so many pubs and restaurants caught on to that yet and advertise falsely?
Food very expensive for what it was. nicely presented but not the best.
Very nice food and drinks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend and return again.
Our meal was average at best. The best bit about It was the view! We both ordered pork belly which was small and a little bland. I ordered tea and cake for pudding which was lovely and I think my husband was Happy with his banana split but we thought the meal was over priced considering we had to go to the bar to order (We've paid similar prices for meals where complete table service was included) it was also the little things that let our experience down such as no knives in the cutlery box, lots of pieces of squished food on the floor in the bar area and lots of tables which hadn't been cleared away even after people had gone more than 30 mins. I get that it was a busy bank holiday weekend and great weather so you were likely to have been really busy but for the price we expected better and would probably pick somewhere different next time.
Only complaint was not being able to park, grass verge up the lane was not ideal when I had elderly relations with me.
We were a party of 3 left waiting on arrival to be seated at a pre reserved table for nearly 15 minutes. In this time 4 different members of staff walked passed and completely failed to even acknowledge us. 2 members of staff behind the bar didn’t even greet us or have the courtesy to say someone will be with us shortly. Once finally seated after having to ask a member of staff for some acknowledgement we waited a further 10 minutes for someone to take a drinks order. We waited 15 more minutes without the arrival of any drinks and were asked for our food order, staff were oblivious that no drinks had arrived. The food came out in good time and was a pleasant meal but the service was appalling!! There were lots of empty tables giving the impression that it wasn’t overly busy, staff just need better training on customer service.
Food is excellent , Disappointing and adhoc service levels. Training is required ie - leave the phone ringing if a customer is stood in front of you. Do not slam drinks on table . -These things separate an adequate to an unmissable favorite venue !
Disappointing don’t do cauliflower cheese , service to order was a tad on the slow side
Absolutely outstanding service, food quality and atmosphere. I haven't eaten here before, but I have already recommended it to a number of friends. I cant thank you enough.
Really good service, fantastic food and atmosphere. We will be back soon!
We were a group of friends who only occasionally meet up for lunch and it was a very pleasurable experience from start to finish.Hats off to the young man who took our order which was complicated,he remembered all in memory and served correctly to each of the six of us!
Paul and the team looked after us and our guests fantastically well! We held our wedding reception at the Narrow Boat - an ideal setting given the on-site accommodation. We really appreciated the time that Paul took to discuss the menu so that the food offering (and wine) was spot on. The accommodation was perfect - decorated to a high standard, and breakfast was great too! On the day, the team took a lot of time and effort to make sure we were looked after and everything ran smoothly. Can't recommend this place highly enough!
The setting is nice and the menu sounded promising but the food was disappointing. I ordered the smoked tuna which I expected to be cured but it was either a fried or grilled piece of tuna. Apart from that it was okay. For mains, I wanted the wild boar chop but they didn't have any so my partner and I ordered the Lamb which wasn't very nice. It was very chewy and there wasn't much meat. My friend ordered the Pork which he said was over cooked. Nobody asked us how our meals were and seemed uninterested. If I was to go again, I would stick to burgers and chips. The rest of the menu sounded like it would be good but was actually overpriced poor quality.
Couldn’t fault anything food atmosphere service all first class. Thank you for an excellent meal
We did not enjoy our meal, the service was very slow and we had wrong meals brought to our table. Overall very disappointed, won’t be coming back.
Lovely meal and staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome.
