About The Nag's Head, Haughton
Family run Gastro Pub located in Haughton nr. Tarporley, Cheshire. From the team behind Piste Wine Bars....
The Nag’s Head, situated in the picturesque village of Haughton, near Tarporley; has been standing since 1680. It has now been transformed following an extensive, yet sympathetic and loving refurbishment into one of the county’s finest regional Gastropubs. Just off the beaten track near Tarporley and only a couple of minutes drive from the bustling village of Bunbury, Tudor styled full of character and charm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history with nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Tatton Park and the restored Water Mill at Bunbury. Quintessentially English, The Nag’s Head represents everything a fine Cheshire pub should be, a bowling green, kitchen garden, a delightful ‘al fresco’ dining garden perfect to celebrate our British Summer and three crackling log fires inside make it the ideal winter dining and drinking destination too. From cocktails on the lawn to hearty meals by the fire, The Nag’s Head is a destination for all lovers of great food, local ales, fabulous wines and real Northern hospitality.
Top food, service and venue. We will be visiting many times in 2020.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. A lovely way to spend Boxing Day afternoon with family and friends.
Great meal, great service, quiet because of time of sitting but really great, thank you.
Excellent meal efficient and friendly service and wonderful atmosphere . Can’t wait to come again !!
We haven't been for a few years even though it's our local and where we had our wedding reception. Had a couple of bad meals with the last owner so not been back until Saturday as we had heard its changed hands, what a lovely meal and great service so we will be going back soon.
Great food, service and a good selection of wines served in lovely glasses. The live music was excellent and a bonus and made a very special evening.
Great food a tentative staff and very professional front of house. Very enjoyable.
Excellent food and service. Main course was steak and delicious but served too cold . Ordered cheeseboard with red fox for £9.95. No red fox on board and not with £3.95. Overall disappointment but with a few minor changes could be very good.
Fabulous personalised service for a family party
Everything was lovely about the nags head except the food! Both our meals had things missing. My burger was a bit burnt and my husbands risotto was luke warm! The mushroom in sourdough starter was gorgeous though so maybe we just were unlucky. The service was very attentive which made up for the negatives on the food.
Really enjoyed our meal couldn’t fault in anyway we will defo be back.
We had lunch here today,we couldn’t fault anything the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was delicious We will certainly visit again
Service needs attention. I had almost finished mine before my Dads arrived. Things we were told came on the meals were missing and we were not told of items sold out. Food was excellent.
Very friendly pub, good food and always made to feel very welcome.
Very disappointed when myself and another member of our party ordered the lamb, which was listed on the menu as being served with red cabbage, but was not served with red cabbage.
We had a lovely evening the gentleman who served us all evening was lovely and we asked for cocktails which they no longer do. But he rustled something up for us. Which was amazing. The children wanted sauce with there ice cream which they didnt have but came out with a pot of melted chocolate sauce to drizzle over the ice cream. The kids were made up. He went above and beyond for anything we wanted. Which was really nice.
Couldn’t fault our experience of dining in the Nags head. The welcome was warm from the wood burning stoves and the staff. The food was delicious. I chose the pie of the day and unlike other pubs it wasn’t a pie in a dish with a floppy lid it was a PROPER meat and potato pie with nice crusty pastry and PROPER chips. All the other food was great too. Just what we needed after being out all day in the cold.....5 stars
Another excellent evening at this great Gastro pub. Starters and mains were perfect, washed down with a great selection of ales. We went early evening, and the restaurant area was very quiet, but we’ll be back soon for sure.
Good food, service and nice atmosphere.
A hidden gem 💎
Never ever have a bad meal here. Last night was truely amazing. Service is excellent and food is amazing. We will be back soon.
most enjoyable lunch with fiends
Always excellent at The Nag's Head since the change of ownership. Good menu choice, food presented beautifully, and excellent selection of beers in a great spot. What's not to like?
Lovely warm welcome, nothing too much trouble, food was amazing
A splendid long lunch for eight of us with excellent service and superb food.
