About The Nag's Head, Haughton
Family run Gastro Pub located in Haughton nr. Tarporley, Cheshire. From the team behind Piste Wine Bars....
The Nag’s Head, situated in the picturesque village of Haughton, near Tarporley; has been standing since 1680. It has now been transformed following an extensive, yet sympathetic and loving refurbishment into one of the county’s finest regional Gastropubs. Just off the beaten track near Tarporley and only a couple of minutes drive from the bustling village of Bunbury, Tudor styled full of character and charm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history with nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Tatton Park and the restored Water Mill at Bunbury. Quintessentially English, The Nag’s Head represents everything a fine Cheshire pub should be, a bowling green, kitchen garden, a delightful ‘al fresco’ dining garden perfect to celebrate our British Summer and three crackling log fires inside make it the ideal winter dining and drinking destination too. From cocktails on the lawn to hearty meals by the fire, The Nag’s Head is a destination for all lovers of great food, local ales, fabulous wines and real Northern hospitality.
First visit to you, very impressed overall. Great menu and service, will definitely be back.
Had a lovely meal to celebrate our daughters birthday. Tasty meal, beautifully presented and attentive staff.
We will be back.
Love our new local fabulous restaurant and bar😬 very friendly staff and fabulous food .. gorgeous stylish interior and lovely gardens highly recommend!
Great service from front of house & team. Super food
Excellent food and fantastic service from Millie. We will be back, thanks!
Very enjoyable meal just short on food choices we know due to busy weekend. Need more gluten free options. Will be back love the place
Lovely meal at The Nags Head this weekend. We took visiting family with us and were not disappointed. Great food and fantastic service.
Disappointed with the menu. No specials or seasonal food, eg spring salads etc. Considering it was bank holiday weekend we expected some specials. Food we had was average. Service and setting good.
Fantastic pub in a lovely location.
Had my daughters christening party here. The staff went above and beyond. The food was amazing and it’s just a fab little place. Thank you all involved. Made it so special.
Food and service was great The only thing was the champagne was warm when it came to the table We will come again Thanks
Great food accompanied by great service. The Nag's Head manages to tick ALL of the boxes. A lovely establishment set in a fabulous location. Try it and see for yourselves....Excellent!
I always love it here and as always the meal was nice. It is however unnerving when your order is taken without being written down. The only negatives were that the Haddock arrived without the tartare sauce, it had to be requested and when we had finished our drinks we were not asked if we would like any more.
Extremely friendly staff and very welcoming. Surroundings fantastic
The service was very attentive, good size portions, steak was beautifully cooked and correct. Excellent
Gorgeous steak and ale pie. Nice Atmosphere, and really good beer. The host's where kind and friendly also. Well worth a visit.
Our first visit to the Nags head and unfortunately wasn’t impressed with the food. Lovely venue and great service , shame the food wasn’t quite there today .
Fabulous meal with brilliant friendly service Many Thanks Will definitely be back soon
Arrived early for a drink before our dinner reservation, service was great at the bar. Very friendly. We then enjoyed the garden area as it was a sunny evening. We had booked dinner for a table of 4 and two dogs. We were put in the dog friendly room of the pub, which was lovely and ideal! We waited for menus to arrive, which they didn't, so we went up to the bar and asked for them. Waiter came to ask if we were ready to order, 1 of us wasn't so we asked for a few more minutes. He never came back so we ordered at the bar. 2 fish and chips, steak pie and sweet potato and five bean chilli with wild rice. Wait time on the food was fine, as expected as we were only ordering main courses. The fish and chips came out, good portion size but the chips were rock hard in the middle and over cooked on the outside. I don't think they had been blanched prior to cooking. The sweet potato and five bean chilli was supposed to be served with wild rice but came with white basmati. Also, I failed to see five varieties of beans and only a couple of chick peas and a few kidney beans along with the sweet potato in a sauce. The steak pie was fine. We dine at Piste Tarporley all the time and have nothing but amazing things to say about that place. We were expecting similar standards at The Nags Head but we were less than impressed.
OUR FIRST TIME AT THE NAGS HEAD WILL BE BACK AGAIN AS SOON AS WE CAN.
nothing to add
