About The Nag's Head, Haughton
Family run Gastro Pub located in Haughton nr. Tarporley, Cheshire. From the team behind Piste Wine Bars....
The Nag’s Head, situated in the picturesque village of Haughton, near Tarporley; has been standing since 1680. It has now been transformed following an extensive, yet sympathetic and loving refurbishment into one of the county’s finest regional Gastropubs. Just off the beaten track near Tarporley and only a couple of minutes drive from the bustling village of Bunbury, Tudor styled full of character and charm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history with nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Tatton Park and the restored Water Mill at Bunbury. Quintessentially English, The Nag’s Head represents everything a fine Cheshire pub should be, a bowling green, kitchen garden, a delightful ‘al fresco’ dining garden perfect to celebrate our British Summer and three crackling log fires inside make it the ideal winter dining and drinking destination too. From cocktails on the lawn to hearty meals by the fire, The Nag’s Head is a destination for all lovers of great food, local ales, fabulous wines and real Northern hospitality.
Came last night for my daughters birthday, food was fabulous & the lady that served us was very friendly & attentive..best food we have had out for a while...will be back!
Very enjoyable meal
Good food and service
It was our first visit to the Nags head and we reall enjoyed the whole experience. If we had any suggestions it would be to have the font larger and not in grey on allergy menu to make it easier to read. Looking forward to returning in the future. Great to have the 25% offer.
The menu is made up of interesting mouth Watering choices Staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef deserves a mention too the food was delicious..Thank you see you soon.
Thank you for an excellent evening. You accommodated 16 of us with ease. The service was outstanding - better than 5 star!
Sunday Roast. Sorry but thought it could be better. Roast Poatoes you could tell were frozen and undercooked. Greens quite stalky have tasted better. Service snd surrounding very bright and comfortable. Will go back at some later date to see if sunday roast is any better. Took my 90 year old mother. Who also was not impressed with the meal.
Chef came and asked us how we were enjoying the meal. Sponge part of the sticky toffee pudding the best
Really nice touch with the chef coming out to the tables following service.
It was very quiet for a Friday evening hence the atmosphere was a bit low. Food was good delivered well. We enjoyed the place but it needs something different we think to make it really work. Food needs to be exceptional to really attract more. So many venues are just doing the same. A Chef with flair is needed
We came for a meal and were so impressed that we decided to hold my wife's big birthday party there
Great to see the place open again. Keep up the good work. Would love to see the cauliflower fritters back on the menu. Thanks to coming to our rescue after our coffee spillage.
Attentive staff despite it getting quite busy. Nice to see it busy and doing well. Nothing to falter on at all. Would definitely recommend and return again. Only thing, my friend ordered house G&T but wasn't informed what the gin was, so we have no idea what she had. Also she wasn't asked whether she would prefer regular tonic or slimline etc.
Bad service Lukewarm food Creme brûlée’s runny and inedible Pecan pie served straight from the fridge - cold Just not quite right yet
First visit to The Nags Head today, lovely place, excellent food and very friendly staff.
Great place...nice fires...good music and fantastic food...best place around! thanks...
We complained about the food the starter my daughter had meat sharing platter sausages burnt and also ribs , The mains not good veg was cold ,burgers Luke warm, toasted bun was cold no carmalised onion no gherkins lcould go on with more not a good experience
Myself and friends were greeted with a lovely lively atmosphere when entering The Nag’s Head, but unfortunately that is the only positive comment I can give. The evening was majorly let down by its very poor service from start to finish. We had to chase up our own drinks and food the entire evening. Our much anticipated meals (Fisherman’s pie, Steak burger and x2 Herb crusted rump’s of Lamb) took an hour to arrive and once it had arrived we were greeted with raw vegetables and an overly cooked burger which had lost its taste. When we made a comment about our meals the waitress told us that since we had started eating we could no longer return it to the kitchen, then apologised and disappeared. After finishing the majority of our food the plates were then awkwardly scraped and gathered away in front of us, with no offer of a pudding or coffee followed up afterwards. We finished our drinks and requested our bill at the bar (with only a round of drinks deducted off the bill) we left very disappointed in our evening.
We thought we would try you under new ownership. Disappointed, not enough staff, service very slow, fish pie delicious but too small for a main course, the veg on the side could have made up for it but this was also very small and cold. We will try you again at some point but won’t be rushing back.
Super service with thoughtful touches, i.e pudding plate decorated with 'Happy Birthday', chef taking time out of the kitchen to check we were happy with the food plus front door held open on our arrival. Think the pub would make a lovely venue for smaller, bespoke wedding receptions. Plenty of parking, warm, glamorous interior and a gorgeouse looking garden perfect for summer drinks.
Great to have the Nags Head open again. Good menu and good service. Looking forward to your loyalty scheme being operational.
Small food portions, one small piece of broccoli on a £13 Sunday roast?? Bad service, we had to find somebody to ask for mustard long after food arrived. Beer on tap not working (innes and Gunn) for a reason unknown. Friendly staff though and great setting. Shame but would not return
Visited on first night of opening, then for a snack and lunch today. Three visits in first week. That must show that we have all enjoyed it. Great start. Keep it up. I visited with three different people three times! Can’t all be wrong. Definitely recommend. Suggest book first. Lovely ambience, welcoming and friendly Owner, Chef and staff. Great fire as you walk in. Oh, and a menu to suit everyone. Well done.
