About The Nag's Head, Haughton
Family run Gastro Pub located in Haughton nr. Tarporley, Cheshire. From the team behind Piste Wine Bars....
The Nag’s Head, situated in the picturesque village of Haughton, near Tarporley; has been standing since 1680. It has now been transformed following an extensive, yet sympathetic and loving refurbishment into one of the county’s finest regional Gastropubs. Just off the beaten track near Tarporley and only a couple of minutes drive from the bustling village of Bunbury, Tudor styled full of character and charm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history with nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Tatton Park and the restored Water Mill at Bunbury. Quintessentially English, The Nag’s Head represents everything a fine Cheshire pub should be, a bowling green, kitchen garden, a delightful ‘al fresco’ dining garden perfect to celebrate our British Summer and three crackling log fires inside make it the ideal winter dining and drinking destination too. From cocktails on the lawn to hearty meals by the fire, The Nag’s Head is a destination for all lovers of great food, local ales, fabulous wines and real Northern hospitality.
Very friendly pub, good food and always made to feel very welcome.
Very disappointed when myself and another member of our party ordered the lamb, which was listed on the menu as being served with red cabbage, but was not served with red cabbage.
We had a lovely evening the gentleman who served us all evening was lovely and we asked for cocktails which they no longer do. But he rustled something up for us. Which was amazing. The children wanted sauce with there ice cream which they didnt have but came out with a pot of melted chocolate sauce to drizzle over the ice cream. The kids were made up. He went above and beyond for anything we wanted. Which was really nice.
Couldn’t fault our experience of dining in the Nags head. The welcome was warm from the wood burning stoves and the staff. The food was delicious. I chose the pie of the day and unlike other pubs it wasn’t a pie in a dish with a floppy lid it was a PROPER meat and potato pie with nice crusty pastry and PROPER chips. All the other food was great too. Just what we needed after being out all day in the cold.....5 stars
Another excellent evening at this great Gastro pub. Starters and mains were perfect, washed down with a great selection of ales. We went early evening, and the restaurant area was very quiet, but we’ll be back soon for sure.
Good food, service and nice atmosphere.
A hidden gem 💎
Never ever have a bad meal here. Last night was truely amazing. Service is excellent and food is amazing. We will be back soon.
most enjoyable lunch with fiends
Always excellent at The Nag's Head since the change of ownership. Good menu choice, food presented beautifully, and excellent selection of beers in a great spot. What's not to like?
Lovely warm welcome, nothing too much trouble, food was amazing
A splendid long lunch for eight of us with excellent service and superb food.
Friendly, efficient service and excellent food quality.
Believe accident with camembert caused some delay but otherwise very quiet ( and filling! ) Thursday lunch. Staff polite and attentive. BW.
A great afternoon . Welcoming , accommodating and delicious . My new favourite place 🤩
Excellent food and service
A pleasant environment on a miserable day. Suitable for a ‘girly’ catch up, couples, families and parties.
On both occasions that we have been the service has been slow.
Seated and the menu given out but no one came to take our drinks order. Finally the lady behind the bar did come to take our order. The menu was extensive and the food when it arrived was well worth the wait. Felt they needed more waiting on staff. The atmosphere was very good and the staff very help full.
Highly recommended, couldn't fault a thing, service exceptional always polite ,pleasant and helpful in any way. Food always piping hot, presented well and very tasty.
Lovely food and service. Went with my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary, the barmaid bought them a drink each which was really nice. Thank you
Excellent food,, lovely pub
Service was fab -the lady was really attentive and helpful. We all really enjoyed the food- all in all a lovely evening.
The Menus were crumpled and obviously not fresh, which is the only complaint but was noticed as a small minus point but easily rectified. If the menu is not changed daily the material/paper should be more resilient and pleasant to handle for the customers.
Had a really good meal last night - many thanks Will definitely return!!!
