About The Mussel and Steak Bar
Casual and relaxed dining experience in the heart of the Grassmarket. Serving succulent steaks, moorish seafood- all sustainable and local!!
Delicious dinner, good house wine and we will be returning on our next visit to Edinburgh
Lovely welcome and superb meal pre rugby
Very disappointed in waiting time between courses felt 2 larger tables were getting all the attention and we were left waiting and waiting !!! Had to ask in the end were main course was this was after 45 minutes . Shame as go regularly. Could see they were busy ( but small tables are just as important) Was told we should have mentioned this as we only had so long as my daughter was due back at work . Felt we should not have needed to ask . I In the end my daughter had to rush her main course .
Despite the restaurant being empty, the service was very slow, the quality was over-priced and 3 out of 5 guests suffered food poisoning afterwards...
Interior design and ambience of restaurant disappointing, felt dated and souless Flickering light in ceiling also annoying. Welcome was rather rushed and flat. Waitress as was also very sultry and rather uninterested. Food pleasant but oysters and mussels all very small within shells. I also think if ordering mussels a side of chips or bread to accompany should be included in price.
Always excellent food and service it’s our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh
Amazing meal. Would recommend to anyone, i had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. My partner had muscles and said they are the best she has had. Will 100% be back again
WE WERE LOOKED AFTER VERY WELL ON A VERY WET POST RUGBY MATCH EVENING
Brilliant, came back after a 10 year break. Great restaurant
First time back to Edinburgh for a long time and first choice for a return visit for dinner. Exceptional food and great service as always!
Excellent food Well worth a look at We'll definitely go again when back in Edinburgh
So cosy. Delicious, fresh dishes. Very friendly staff. The place was packed with people taking tables as they were vacated, yet the service and food was excellent. High praise due to kitchen staff.
Prompt service, delicious food
Found this restaurant online, wanted somewhere a little different as I'd booked a weekend away for my partners birthday. Everything about our visit was just fantastic. Food, service just excellent. Thank you
Outstanding meal as always. Our waiter was great too.
We were celebrating my partners bday. A glass of champagne on arrival was lovely touch. The manager was so friendly and made our evening extra special. Its ways the little extra touches the above and beyond the people go to to make you have an excellent experience that you end up remembering. Thank you for a wonderful evening
Excellent meal,, service & ambience. Highly recommend
The restaurant was fully booked all night as it was New Year’s Eve yet service and food quality did not suffer. Great food and service will be back for sure
Very friendly and attentive even though it was very busy and staff had a lot to do .
Food was incredible. One of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh.
An incredible draft of cold wind everytime the door opens. And the doors opens every 5 seconds with new people even when it’s fully booked. Completely kills the dining experience. Staff tries to help but is too busy. A curtain or a second door would to the trick...
Amazing consistently, amazing
The food was as expected, good quality and well presented. The atmosphere was a little sterile but clean and tidy. I enjoyed the Oysters! I would visit again, the next time I'm in Edinburgh.
Amazing food and service would definitely go again!
