About The Monro
A short walk from the vibrancy of Liverpool One, The Monro is your perfect sanctuary. Think home-cooked food, log fire, courtyard-garden and more. A bit like home, but better.
My only complaint on the night was this was for an office Christmas meal, the table didn't have crackers or any Christmas decorations either. It felt more like a Sunday dinner.
It was a Xmas ladies lunch last Fri 14th Dec, the whole experience from start to finish was excellent, 5 stars all the way. We had not been for a few years for no other reason then to try different venues for our Xmas lunch, we will be back!
A great service from beginning to end. Lovely food, great choices on the menu. Excellent value for money and very attentive staff.
Food was lovely, We were served very quickly, lovely cosy atmosphere.
Booked the monro for our annual Christmas meal as a group of 8. We pre ordered as required and paid a deposit of £80. When we arrived we were sat (after initially waiting at the bar and being forgotten about) and told they had our pre order and our starters would be out shortly. Starters were fine, then when the mains arrived we realised we hadn’t been given what we had pre ordered. Several were given a lamb roast dinner, and others a turkey roast dinner. We soon realised they did a ‘Sunday lunch’ menu and that this was what had been given. After telling who I assume was the manager that this was not what we ordered, he said ‘what’s missing?’ And then said he would bring out pigs in blankets (which were on the Xmas menu) and extra roasties and advised that they couldn’t give those who ordered the lamb the dauphinois potatoes they were expecting and that he would ‘only’ charge us for the Sunday roast menu. On receiving the bill at the end we noticed our £80 deposit had not been taken from the bill. I raised this with the same server, who, without apology took the bill from me then returned with the bill minus the deposit, again without so much as another word never mind an apology. One of our party then spoke to him to explain how annoyed we were with the service and that we hadn’t been able to eat the meals we had pre ordered and that we expected at least some gesture of goodwill and an apology. The manager advised he had given us discount as we had ‘only’ been charged for the Sunday lunch menu, until it was pointed out that we ‘only’ ate the Sunday lunch so in fact had paid full price for something we didn’t not want. He eventually returned with our drinks removed from the bill. I think for somewhere with a good reputation such as here the service was appalling. And I also wonder had we not mentioned the food in the first place whether they would have just charged us for the Christmas menu and hope we didn’t notice. The food was ok, the over all experience was rather disappointing.
Food was bland and service was comical
Fabulous food and fabulous service. I phoned beforehand as some of our guests couldn't make it; they got all of our choices right, all of the food arrived hot, at the same time and it was amazing. I can't say anything negative except we would have liked some Christmas crackers and decs. Apart from that, everything was spot on. Thanks Monro
We booked our Christmas Meal for 14 based on a menu which looked really good and stood out from the generic Christmas menus most places were offering. At 3 weeks notice, we were told this menu was no longer valid and had to choose of a different menu which now resembled a generic Christmas menu. We had to changed 26 of our 42 meal choices.
It was a bit cold in the bar area but the restaurant was fine.
It was fabulous, food, service, atmosphere, everything. You have got it so right, a balance of a hearty pub and fine dining!
Lovely food. Great atmosphere and great, friendly service!
Food was delicious Staff attentive and all in a very smart but chilled atmosphere
Third or fourth year for office Christmas lunch .......... as usual good food, friendly helpful staff and great atmosphere!!!!
I don't like plated dinners, I prefer potatoes and veg in serving dishes. The plate came swimming in gravy, I don't have much gravy, this too should have come in a small jug for the customer to put as much, or little, they wanted. I was recommended this restaurant but was disappointed.
Lovely waitress . Food fabulous. Only negative was last orders at 9.30 and feeling the need to leave .
Really good value for money. Food and service excellent.
Everyone had a great time, very impressed with the service & value for money.
You were recommended to me by my daughter and how right she was and I am coming back on Sunday it was excellent thank you . Regards Alan
Food and service execellent as always, however seemed lacking organisation as multiple servers all over with repetitive questions from multiple people. Staff all nice though
Went for a birthday celebration and we enjoyed it first class service
We all had a really good night. Nothing was too much trouble, even when we wanted to change a pre-ordered menu on the night.
Have been here a few times and quite like the venue. Young staff were warm and friendly. Would have preferred a bit more choice for starters, I had the prawn cocktail which was just as I remembered it in the 70's bit bland. My wife had the chicken bites which were tasty but with a small appetite she left some in order to enjoy here roast. The roasts arrived and the portion sizes were larger than we normally get. Food was OK if nothing special. Would prefer option of one course.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here the staff were amazing friendly great service and went the extra mile - definitely returning ad definitely recommending
Music was a fraction loud for dining but very good otherwise. I would definitely re-visit when in Liverpool.
Had a lovely meal. Atmosphere and service was great. Would definitely recommend.
