You come to The Mill Wheel as a guest and you leave as a friend!
Beautiful food hot and served on hot plates which helps keeping food hot
We had our wedding reception at The Mill Wheel 10 years ago as we loved the restaurant. We used to come back each anniversary for a few years. One year we were very disappointed in the service and food and as a result didn't come back until this year following friends reviews. We were really impressed with the service and the food and so pleased it is back to how we remember and loved it before. Thank you for helping to make our 10rh anniversary special and bringing back happy memories.
Very friendly staff, good food, great service.
Absolutely fantastic. Food was first class, as was the service. Two of our party were running extremely late and, with no fuss or bother, their three course meals were prepared for us to take-away so they could eat at home when they eventually arrived. All in all, a great experience!
3 of the meals were lovely but the following happened: We ordered food (only 1 other table there). We then waited. And waited. New customers came in, ordered their food, they got served. We waited. I then had to ask where the food was as I was concerned that we only had the table for 2.5 hours. The waitress had no clue what was going on and I mentioned that we had waited 50 minutes. After a further 10 minutes Everyone else’s came my daughters didn’t. It eventually came and she began to eat. The gravy was warm but everything else was cold. We told the server and they requested a new plate. 10 minutes later it arrived and at first looked ok. However the potatoes were raw, the veg was raw and then to top it off the turkey/gravy had loads of “black” bits in it. It looked like grime off the hot plate. Terrible. The manager apologised and took the turkey dinner off the bill but it ruined our evening. We won’t come again.
Arrived Christmas Eve have to say place felt a little cold, think staff did very well considering how busy they were, food order came out a little different to order soon spotted by a member of staff given free drinks as an apology, would like to say will visit again understand how busy Christmas can be and staff did there best in the circumstances.
Booked a party of 22 for a birthday, food was great, excellent service and polite, friendly staff. Everyone had a great night. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly return. Thanks
Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere but being near the bar was a bit noisy at times. Not a problem though. the food is good and not stupidly large portions but plenty to fill you up without waste or subsequent belly ache. Will be returning .
Amazing food and brilliant service. We will definately be back again.
One of our group have summed it up: I had the stuffed chicken which was delicious followed by a chocolate brownie to die for! I have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. Great atmosphere too.
Good food, friendly and helpful staff, a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended. Will certainly return.
Very good service thank you
We had a lovely night and all of our food was very lovely and very tasty. Service was excellent. I had the moules frites and whilst it was very tasty I thought the portion was very very small. I would expect to be served this size as a starter and have been in many other places I have visited before. I don’t eat a lot but left here hungry. The rest of the food was lovely and we had no other complaints.
A very clean place, with friendly staff. A good range of drinks and the food was excellent.
Lovely place to eat, friendly atmosphere, very attentive service.
the food was ok but do think that it was expensive for what is basically steak and chips and my pasta was ok thought it was on the expensive side
Lovely evening with great food and friendly staff
Two of our guests sent back the soup as it was very salty. The fish cake appeared to have been from frozen and not home made. The beef was lovely. I had the pie for pudding which was very poorly presented. My partner enjoyed the panacotta. We found the music too loud - speaker above our table and we struggled to chat especially as we had 3 elderly guests in our party. Overall the quality of the food was not of the standard we have enjoyed with you before. The roaring fire and cosy atmosphere was lovely
Excellent all round, could not fault, looking forward to coming back again
Fantastic as always
Great place to go for a quick, reasonably priced bite to eat
Was really looking forward to our first visit to the Mill Wheel in a few years. Service at the downstairs bar was great and the whole place looks very inviting. However once we went to our table it took a long time to be asked what we wanted to eat, the waitress seemed quite disinterested. The pizza was fine and fresh but not that exciting. The kids fish and chips looked like it was just frozen birds eye that we could have got at home. The burgers - well we were rather disappointed that it was just normal processed patties, not home made. It’s not difficult to get a good burger recipe - everything else, buns, chips and filling was great, it was just the meat that was very disappointing. Won’t be hurrying back.
Lovely place, food and service! :-)
Very friendly staff, lovely food
Visited for my sons birthday, good atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food and local ales what more can I say. Hoping to pay another very soon. Keep up the good work.
