About The Mill at Ulverston

Our first floor restaurant is located above the historic water wheel in what was originally the “milling room.” The restaurant celebrates the charm and character of the mill building, with original millstones and milling paraphernalia still in place in the centre of the room. The room’s original exposed stone walls and features are complemented by design touches, to create the perfect venue for a relaxed meal with family, friends and colleagues or when dining out on a special occasion.

Seating up to 40 diners in total, our restaurant can comfortably sit tables from two to over 20 people. The air conditioned room is filled with natural light; the perfect place to enjoy our delicious menus and our carefully chosen wine list.

We also offer more casual dining options in our ground floor Snug, which is located at the rear of the building.

Our Chef's Brigade is a talented collection of experienced individuals from across South Cumbria. Our Head Chef is Mr Nigel Bullock. Nigel is a protege of our food consultant, Mr Steven Doherty, a renown Chef with an amazing collection of local, national and international food awards. Nigel worked for Steven for a number of years, rising to become his Head Chef. He joined The Mill in 2017 and has carefully built up an excellent team around him. Nigel's developing his own style of cooking which aims to surprise, delight and satisfy his diners. He takes time and effort to build a list of local suppliers, uses the absolute latest cooking techniques and offers superb cooking with generous portion sizes.

We believe our food is the best in the area and is in keeping with our unbeatable real ale, whisky, wine and spirits selection.

Leading the front of house is Ms Michelle Wood. Michelle built up many years experience working as Restaurant Supervisor and later Restaurant Manager at the AA Rosette standard Abbey House Hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience at the Mill. The food was excellent, the menu was explained to us by the waitress the waiting time was minimal and they couldn't do enough for us, I would rate this experience as excellent and good value for money. I would definitely recommend. Also I really liked the booking system which was confirmed via email
