About The Mason Arms
Tucked away in the village of South Leigh, The Mason Arms is a quaint thatched pub that isn’t quite what it seems.
Fun, friendly and a little offbeat, with the warm welcome and hearty hospitality of a traditional inn, this is a place for meeting, eating, drinking and merry-making, from coffees to cocktails, breakfast to bedtime.
Beautifully renovated if some elements of decor are not to all tastes. Excellent beer and food, but slightly pricey. Beautiful glass-ware and cutlery! Efficient, friendly service, though the computer billing and booking can be a little slow. Good atmosphere and thoroughly recommended.
Pefect Sunday Roast! the refurishment of the place is stunning. Staff are all very friendly, welcoming and very professional. The desserts are not to be missed - very special indeed! We will be back for more.
The staff were really friendly, welcoming and professional. The food was delicious and really creatively presented. Cocktail list and wine made you not want the night to end. Nailed the buzzy atmosphere. Decor managed to keep the old charm of a pub but enriched by quirky and carefully curated artwork.
We had a wonderful stay. Friendly, attentive staff who catered for our every need. The food was superb.
We came back for more the next day.
Enjoyable evening .
Love the place and proud to have it in our village
Very impressed with the food and service at this lovely new restaurant venture. Good Luck for the future!
Excellent service - friendly, polite, but never intrusive. Beautiful room - wonderfully comfortable bed & plenty of space. Spotless. Loved the little information guide in the room & the attention to tiny details (bee motif on guide & room key!). Supper & breakfast were delicious. Perfectly contented stay for myself, my daughter & our dachshund! Thank you!
We had a fantastic Sunday night fish'n' chip supper!! Atmosphere was great Food was delicious Value for money was bang on Front of house looked after us & Bar Tender was super friendly and made a mean cocktail!!! We were staying the night for our first wedding anniversary and went to bed with full bellies and happy thoughts after a lovely endings We would thoroughly recommend dinner here and we are already checking our diaries to book our next stay and dinner!! Thank you!
I would like to commend the staff who were so understanding when our party arrived late and all at different times. They made us feel very welcome and went the extra mile for our party even sorting out a doggy bag for the melt in the mouth Roast Beef that was not eaten by 1 fussier younger member of our family! The highlight for me was the Valhrona Chocolate Mousse with cherry sorbet but others also praised the Panna Cotta with Apricot dessert. One word Delicious!! Can't wait to return.
Very friendly and efficient service from Pauline. Food is stunning and imaginative, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.
Staff were all so welcoming and friendly. There is no request too big or small. I can't wait to come back and stay again!
I brought my wife here on a Tuesday night to celebrate her bday. The service was amazing from the moment we arrived at 3pm until we checked out at breakfast. Great selection of craft beers, cocktails and amazing food. The ate in the restaurant, but the pub menu also looked super tatsy.Lovely interiors and good atmosphere.
A lovely setting for a lovely lunch. Service was interrupted by a power failure, but this was dealt with cheerfully and professionally.
We sat in the lovely garden, were very well looked after and the food was just great! Thank you. Please note: my surname is Diacon and my email address is [email protected] and we'd very much like to be kept informed.
Desert and breakfast was lovely. Could not fault the hospitality every one was very friendly and welcoming exceptional service and not stuck up! Main courses were okay the burger was little dry and the fish the first night the batter was under cooked and not the best piece of fish though we are from the coast beer was good . The interior decor was perfect stylish but relaxing. The bedding was also perfect and we had a great night sleep pillows were nice and firm and sheets and blanket nice and soft. Shower was powerful and bathroom was light and spacious. Loved the incorporation of art in the hotel. Having the radio and lights on when arriving was a nice touch. 10 out of 10 👍
I have posted the following review on Facebook and Trip Advisor. Last night we visited the restaurant for the second time. The first was on the opening weekend where we weren't completely convinced of the service and food portions so we thought we'd give it another try. We arrived as a group of four. I said hello to the first member of staff I found and told him our name. A man shouted from behind the cocktail bar "he's only a KP (kitchen porter) he doesn't know anything!" Another member of staff asked us our name and sat us at the table. We asked a waitress what the 'bartender special cocktails' were that are listed on the drinks menu. She then told us several times that the cocktail barman had not turned up for work, that he had let them down and we should just stick to the listed ones. We had to get up later and find a waitress to order our wine and when we did, they came back 15 mins later to say the wine we wanted wasn't available and they would give us the more expensive bottle and charge us at the cheaper rate. The food itself was lovely. Tasty, delicate and beautifully presented. The chef has improved the portion sizes since our last visit and all our party were happy with everything they had. Unfortunately the disjointed and amateurish service continued when we ordered fries with our main course as they don't come with any carbs. The waitress forgot them. We mentioned them to her, when she eventually came to ask if everything was ok with our food. She asked if we would still like to have them, when we had all but finished our main course so there didn't seem any point. After ordering three desserts, two of them came almost immediately. Luckily because our friend hadn't got hers we didn't start eating them. Two minutes later the desserts were snatched up from under our noses and given to the next table as the waitress had made a mistake. When we had finished we asked the waitress to call us a taxi to take us back into Witney. She came back with a taxi number and threw the house phone at us!? And then, of course, when we checked the bill and we had been charged the extra £10 for the more expensive wine. The service is just not good enough and let's this place down. It turns what could be a special place into a boring comedy. For the prices they charge, it should be so much better. We won't be back.
I had booked to celebrate my wife's birthday. On our arrival we were greeted and made very welcome by your staff who also wished my wife a happy birthday. We were given a choice of tables and your waitress was very attentive and helpful during our stay. The menu had some interesting choices. Our food was well presented, delicious and the chef is to be complemented. We will certainly be back and will encourage our friends to visit.
Excellent food, great staff brilliant pub
Unfortunately we will not be returning as the tables in your restaurant are uncomfortably close to each other (literally 10 cm apart!) spoiling what was otherwise a very good supper
Everything was absolutely perfect! The rooms, decor and especially the food surpassed all of our expectations. We have already recommended this hotel to our friends and will definitely be returning.
You are setting out to provide high quality: for breakfast making tea/coffee and toast as much as each person wants would feel like you are being indulged and would have minimal impact on costs. Also please ask what preserves and what type of bread people want with their toast.
Excellent all round
